#THROWBACK: NRL and Origin stars at 2005 school championships | Photo

Some of the biggest names on the Origin field on Wednesday have come a long way in 10 years – and here are the pictures that prove it.

Ten years ago, Wagga hosted the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships on the hallowed turf of Weissel Oval.

Nine teams from around the country – ACT, NSW Combined Catholic Colleges, NSW Combined High Schools, NSW Combined Independent Schools, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victorian Lightning and Western Australia – descended on Wagga for the week-long series.

Some of today’s biggest names in rugby league were here – Michael Jennings, Jarrod Mullen, Mitch Aubusson, Joel Thompson, Darius Boyd, Chris Sandow, Dave Taylor and Israel Folau.

When the star-studded NSW Combined Catholic College team – with Jennings, Aubusson, Cooper, Mullen, Pearce and Thompson – defeated the NSW Combined High School side 36-0 to take out the championships, Jennings was the star of the show, collecting the title of player of the final.

Tim Mannah, playing for the NSW Combined Independent Schools team, took out the player of the affiliated states championship honour.

The Australian Schoolboys sides, coached by Simon Huntly, announced at the end of the 2005 national championships.
