Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (also known simply as Fur) is a 2006 film starring Nicole Kidman as iconic American photographer Diane Arbus, who was known for her strange, disturbing images.
The cinematic Arbus (Nicole Kidman) is torn between a bizarre relationship with a neighbor suffering from hypertrichosis, Lionel Sweeney (Robert Downey Jr.), and a conventional life with her husband Allan (Ty Burrell), a photographer. An incident with a clogged drain leads her to a relationship with Lionel and entry into a netherworld populated by transvestites, dwarves and others living on the fringes of society.
For the film, director Steven Shainberg, best known for his kinky indie Secretary, reunited with its screenwriter, Erin Cressida Wilson, who used Patricia Bosworth's book Diane Arbus: A Biography as a source. As its name implies, the film is a fictional account rather than an accurate biography.
The film holds a 50 score on Metacritic.
The Chicago Tribune gave the film 3 out of 4 stars; "The result is a revelatory, challenging and deeply affecting portrait, anchored by what may be Kidman's most profoundly moving performance."
Plot
When Zin, former girlfriend of a Thai mob boss, falls for Masashi, a Japanese gangster in Thailand, the boss banishes them: Masashi to Japan, and Zin, with her small daughter Zen, to live next to a martial arts school. Zen is autistic, with uncanny swift reflexes. She watches the students next door and Muay Thai movies, absorbing every technique. She's now a teen, and her mother needs chemotherapy. Zin has taken in a chubby kid, Moom, who watches over Zen. Moom finds a ledger listing business men who owe Zin money; he goes to them one at a time to collect in order to pay for Zin's treatment. Zen, with her martial skills, becomes his enforcer. A showdown with the boss is inevitable.

Taste the fury.
She's sweet but deadly.
wandering in the woods
lurking in the dark
searching for preys
explotion of rage
feather like image
odorless smell
a skin made of silk
and who also rides the wind
a fortress to hang on
mighty wall to depend
a hurricane
and a great tsunami
tiny thin edges
heavy hands
bloody when used
rages against the wave
it came from a part
whose face is a reflection
lives on air
An industry substained by our desire
to force suffering on others
Their lives for leather...
all for our fashion...
you're taking their skin...
you're taking their lives!
You fat, rich upper class piece of shit -
you bastard - strip and disappear
Their lives for leather...
How would you feel to have your skin removed
How does it feel
To be here and not feel real?
Dead things found on the shore
Hold a life of sorts just unlike before
Know you were beautiful once,
You will be beautiful again
For all of the things you loved
Will be coming around again
How does it feel?
How does it fell
To be here and not feel real?
Sweet things bred on the shore
Offer so much, so much more
Know you were beautiful once
You will be beautiful again
For all of the things you loved
Will be coming around again
How does it feel?
Die Hand, die selten führt
Sie zeigt den tiefsten Punkt
Im Weg immerwährend
In unserem letzten wahren Grund
Und die Sterne, die mich führ'n
In der Wüste ausgesetzt
Dein Herz, eine Granate
Die mich auseinander fetzt
Ich mal' ein Kreuz für Dich
Auf einem Himmel breit
Zu zweit ein Leben weit
Die G'raden treffen mich
Auf dem Kreuz der Ewigkeit
Zu zweit ein Leben weit
Wir leben in der Wüste
Und wir kämpfen in der Stadt
Wir atmen all die Leere
Die die Lust von uns genommen hat
Für die Gier, das nie erreichte
Hungernd voller Lebenslust
Hit it!
Oh, four
(1, 2, 3, 4)
We're gonna sing about four
(1, 2, 3, 4)
Four is the legs on an old easy chair
Four is the corners of a square
(1, 2, 3, 4, Little Jerry, tell us more)
Oh, four
We'll sing some more about four
Four are the legs on a spotted blue cow
Four people singing right now
(Four people singing right now)
Now Jerry's number one, he's a lot of fun.
Chrissy's number two, knows just what to do.
Richard's number three, as happy as can be.
And there's one more, Big Jeffy's number four.
Oh, four
(1, 2, 3, 4)
Not 3 or 7, but four
(1, 2, 3, 4)
Four are the wheels on a big city bus
Four people singing is us
(Four people singing is us)
Spoken:
Jerry: There are lots of things there are four of.
Chrissy: There are four paws on a dog
Richard: Yeah, and four sides on a rectangle
Jerry: And there's four of us singing -- there's me, Chrissy, Richard ...
(Resume singing)
And there's one more
Big Jeffy's number four
Oh, four
(1, 2, 3, 4)
Not 3 or 7, but four
(1, 2, 3, 4)
Four are the wheels on a big city bus
Four people singing is us
(Four people singing is us)
There isn't anymore
(Ooooh, aaaaahh)
This was our song about four ...
(1, 2, 3, 4, Little Jerry tell us more)
Jerry yelling:
There's four seasons in a year.
There are four strings on a bass or a ukelele.
And there's four quarters in a dollar
and four quarters in a football game or a basketball game--
let's hear it for four! Yay!
