If there's anything that perfectly captures the best aspects of American culture in 2015, it may well be this: U.S. national team star Abby Wambach running to the stands to share a beautiful moment with her wife just after winning the Women's World Cup.
The U.S. routed Japan 5-2 in Vancouver on Sunday to win its first World Cup since 1999. Carli Lloyd was the star of the match, but Wambach is the leading international goal scorer in soccer history (male or female) and her post-game moment is what really brought the feels.
Here's Wambach running to find and embrace her wife, Sarah Huffman, minutes after the final match ended.
Weird. It's getting dusty in here. Because we're definitely not crying. Nope, definitely not crying.
Wambach and Huffman were married in in Hawaii in 2013. The U.S. Supreme Court struck down gay marriage bans as unconstitutional on June 26 of this year, making it legal in all 50 states for couples like Wambach and Huffman to tie the knot together. Nine days after that, Wambach won the World Cup behind a massive swelling of support Stateside. Then she found Huffman in the stands right afterwards to melt hearts across the Internet.
Wambach celebrated on Twitter after the Supreme Court's decision on June 26, vowing to make her country as proud of her as she was of it.
Happy doesn't even come close to how I feel!Proud of my country today &will try and make you all proud of us!!! #USA https://t.co/0EuMFd1SNu

On Sunday, she and her teammates fulfilled that goal with grace.
The United States in 2015 is a complicated place with more than its share of problems and challenges. But Wambach's moment with Huffman after winning the World Cup highlights so many of the best parts of the current zeitgeist.
Now, are there some tissues lying around? It's just really, really dusty in here.
