Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) America (LHA 6) returns to Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS from Acceptance Trials on January 31, 2014. During the trials, the ship’s main propulsion, communications, steering, navigation and radar systems were tested. The USS America will be the newest amphibious assault ship of the U.S. Navy, and is scheduled to be formally commissioned during a ceremony in San Francisco, California on October 11, 2014.
