Incorporated as the "Collegiate School," the institution traces its roots to 17th-century clergymen who sought to establish a college to train clergy and political leaders for the colony. In 1718, the College was renamed "Yale College" to honor a gift from Elihu Yale, a governor of the British East India Company. In 1861, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences became the first U.S. school to award the PhD. Yale became a founding member of the Association of American Universities in 1900. Yale College was transformed, beginning in the 1930s, through the establishment of residential colleges: 12 now exist and two more are planned. Yale employs over 1,100 faculty to teach and advise about 5,300 undergraduate and 6,100 graduate and professional students. Almost all tenured professors teach undergraduate courses, more than 2,000 of which are offered annually.
William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton (born William Jefferson Blythe III; August 19, 1946) is an American politician who served as the 42ndPresident of the United States from 1993 to 2001. Clinton has been described as a New Democrat. Many of his policies have been attributed to a centristThird Way philosophy of governance.

To Science S.C.H.O.L.A.R program.
About S.C.H.O.L.A.R. Program
The Yale summer SCHOLAR program is a selective summer residential program that brings more than 100 New Haven & West Haven public high school students to live and study science for two weeks on Yale's campus. The SCHOLAR curriculum focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to prepare highly motivated students for success in college and to strengthen their ability to pursue STEM majors and careers. SCHOLAR provides a tailored enchriment program for students, offering an intensive, hands-on curriculum that emphasizes discovery, criticial thinking and problem solving. Students take laboratory classes on neurobiology, materials science, engineering, and metagenomics, a curriculum that is entirely designed and taught by Yale faculty, graduate students, and local teachers.

Spizzwinks of Yale University - Kayaking the Dart River, Queenstown, New Zealand
You never know what will happen when you travel. One special surprise was getting to kayak with 12 of the Spizzwinks, an acapella singing group from Yale University. This was not our only performance. We got 3-4 more songs in the bus going back to our hotel in Auckland, New Zealand.

1. Eat Whole Foods You probably wouldn't grab a bag of chips and soda and call it breakfast if you're at home - so don't do it on the road. "At the airport, at the hotel, there is always an apple," says Shankman, who now brings almonds to pair with the fruit and passes up airline food altogether. Whole foods like fruit and nuts are full of fiber. That keeps you feeling full longer, so you'll eat less.
2. Stay Hydrated Instead of dehydrating alcohol and caffeine, try to stick to water when flying, says Yale University nutritionist Lisa T. Kimmel, MS, RD, CSSD. "Low humidity and recirculating air within the cabin are a set-up for dehydration, which can worsen jet lag and cause fatigue. A good rule of thumb is to drink 8 ounces of water every hour of the flight," says Kimmel.
3. Multitask Your Workout Workout and sightsee at the same time. "Running or walking is a great way to see a new place and get outdoors," says Sarah Lorge Butler, a fellow MoneyWatch contributor and author of Run Your Butt Off! Don't want to make room in your carry-on? Westin hotels now lend guests running shoes.
4. Don't Count on the Gym If it's raining and your hotel doesn't have a gym, that's no excuse to fall off the workout wagon, says Hollywood trainer Gunnar Peterson. He advises his jet-setting clients to pack a jump rope that can be used both in the traditional way and as a stretching aid. Another hotel-room friendly exercise? Push-ups. Peterson suggests doing 10-15 reps with your feet on your bed and your hands on the floor, and another set with your hands on your bed and your feet on the floor. For a guided workout, download one to your laptop before you leave and you'll be set, whatever the weather.
5. Stick To Your Regular Eating Schedule Planning ahead will keep you from ditching your diet later. "Don't skip breakfast. Schedule a wake up call to make sure that you take time to eat so that you don't overcompensate with big portions as the day goes on," says Kimmel.
6. Stay Active at the Airport If you get to the airport early, resist the urge to immediately plop down into a chair at the gate (they're not comfortable anyway, so this shouldn't be too hard). Window shop until you board, and you'll burn both calories and time. "I never take the moving walkways at an airport," says Butler. "Geez Louise, people - just drag your wheelie behind you and move your tush a little before you settle into that airplane seat!"
7. Remember That Calories Count, Even Midair Sure, you can ask for a low-fat, low-sodium meal if your airline offers them. But bringing your own food is better. "A few of my picks: homemade trail mix with whole grain cereal, dried fruit, peanut butter and jelly or honey on whole grain bread, whole wheat crackers with nut butter, or raw veggies," suggests Kimmel.
8. Make Cocktail Hour About Networking, Not Drinking Whether you're partaking in a conference's happy hour or sipping martinis with a business associate at a hotel bar, alcohol calories can add up quickly. Even worse, drinking too much will cloud your judgment when you order dinner (as well as when you're making business decisions). "Get one drink at the very beginning with lots of ice and nurse it all night," says Shankman. "Or get club soda with lime. Everybody thinks it is vodka."

Yale University is a private Ivy League research university in New Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1701 as the "Collegiate School" by a group of Congregationalist ministers and chartered by the Colony of Connecticut, the university is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. In 1718, the school was renamed "Yale College" in recognition of a gift from Elihu Yale, a governor of the British East India Company. Established to train Connecticut ministers in theology and sacred languages, by 1777 the school's curriculum began to incorporate humanities and sciences. During the 19th century Yale gradually incorporated graduate and professional instruction, awarding the first Ph.D. in the United States in 1861 and organizing as a university in 1887.[6]More info Visiten.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yale_University

Talk Overview:
Pollard begins with a brief history of the proteins involved in cellular motility; actin, myosin, and the various factors involved in regulating actin filament turnover. He focuses on the role of the Arp2/3 protein complex in nucleating the growth of the branched actin filaments found at the leading edge of a motile cell. Structural and biochemical studies allowed Pollard and his colleagues to formulate a model for how actin polymerization can provide the force to push the cell membrane forward.
In his second talk, Pollard explains why the fission yeast S. pomb

Structural and biochemical studies allowed Pollard and his colleagues to formulate a model for how actin polymerization can provide the force to push the cell membrane forward.
In his second talk, Pollard explains why the fission yeast S. pombe is an excellent model to study actin-mediated processes. Fluorescently labeled actin-binding proteins allowed Pollard and his colleagues to follow actual cellular events and compare them with their mathematical model. Adjusting the model so it matched the experimental data provided insight into how actin assembly and turnover could produce the force needed for cells to move or undergo endocytosis.
Cytokinesis is the process by which a contractile ring forms around the middle of a cell and squeezes to divide it into two daughter cells. Although it has been known since the 1970s that the contractile ring contains actin and myosin, it turns out that there are over 100 other proteins involved in cytokinesis. In fission yeast, conditional and deletion mutants of many cytokinesis genes are available, many cytokinesis proteins have been labeled with fluorescent tags so they can be followed over time in live cells, and biochemical characterization of proteins has informed computer models. In his third talk, Pollard discusses the data that have given rise to the latest model for how the contractile ring forms and is regulated.
Speaker Biography:
Tom Pollard is the Sterling Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University. He received his BA from Pomona College and his MD from Harvard Medical School. He was a Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1977-1996 and President of the Salk Institute in San Diego from 1996-2000. He joined Yale University in 2001.
Pollard has been an integral member of the cell biology and biophysics communities for many years. He has been President of both the Biophysical Society and the American Society for Cell Biology, Director of the Physiology course at the Marine Biological Laboratory, and a member of the ASCB Public Policy Committee for 25 years. He has organized numerous meetings, has been a member of many committees and scientific advisory boards, and has been on the editorial boards of at least 10 journals. Together with William Earnshaw, he is the author of the popular textbook Cell Biology.
Pollard is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has received numerous awards including the E.B. Wilson Award from the ASCB in 2005 and the Gairdner International Award in 2006.

John and Mike welcome Rich Littlehale, founder of YouRenew.com. Rich, a student at Yale University, saw an opportunity to build and grow a digital e-waste empire with green incentives.
"I had always wanted to do something in the greenspace," Littlehale says. He credits summers spent at camps for his love of the environment.
"There are a lot of ways you can make an impact responsibly using and recycling e-waste. We created a simple, convenient, easy process with a monetary incentive to trade in your electronics."

For more than three decades, Yale students have been taking the hinges off a hidden door at Harkness Dormitory to sneak into the basement.
There, they would squeeze into a dimly-lit room to see brains – hundreds of them placed on metal shelves and submerged in formaldehyde.
But the room contained something even more fascinating; a collection of thousands of black-and-white photographs showing some of the earliest patients of modern brain surgery.
Since the mid-1990s, students paid their respects by signing a poster in the room, becoming members o

Brain surgery's earliest patients revealed Haunting images discovered in Yale University basement
Brain surgery's earliest patients revealed Haunting images discovered in Yale University basement
Since the mid-1990s, students paid their respects by signing a poster in the room, becoming members of the 'Brain Society.'
The brains were well-known, but the photography in the hidden basement was a surprise, according to a report in Atlas Obscura.
The images are of patients of Dr Harvey Cushing, a pioneering neurosurgeon, who left them to Yale upon his death in 1939, along with a collection of their brains.
The 10,000 images of patients are now being slowly unveiled to the public in an ambitous project aiming to digitise the full collection.
But the identity of most of the patients remains unknown.
'These are photographs of patients cared for by Dr Harvey Cushing between 1900-1930s - taken for diagnostic purposes as part of the Cushing Tumor Registry,' Terry Dagradi, Cushing Center Coordinator, told DailyMail.com.
As they are part of the medical information we cannot release the names of these patients and in most cases we are still in the process of reconnecting the patient information with the faces of the patients and in some cases whole brain and tumor wet specimens.'
The collection includes haunting images of babies with distended skulls, scar-filled heads and patients staring into the camera lens with their right hand held against their chest.
Patients were photographed in this way because doctors at the time believed hands could help determine health.
They argued that many internal disorders and diseases would reveal themselves externally.
Hands, for instance, could undergo changes in skin pigmentation, nail and finger deformities and the colour and size of nodules on the joints.
Many of these candid images show the anonymous people at their most vulnerable, placing their health and trust in a doctor that would go on to be known as the 'father of brain surgery'.
Along with the images, the stored brains are being restored and moved to a 'brain library' within the medical library.

During the 19th century Yale gradually incorporated graduate and professional instruction, awarding the first Ph.D. in the United States in 1861 and organizing as a university in 1887.[6] Please visit more at : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yale_University

"Kasih Ibu" Anisa Sofia Scholar Program 2014 / Yale University Pathway To Science (P2) - Uji Rashid

2014 Stavros Niarchos Foundation Lecture at Yale University: "Patrick Leigh Fermor In Greece"
Patrick Leigh Fermor’s first travels in Greece took place before the outbreak of the Second World War, and he already spoke fluent Greek by the time he was parachuted into occupied Crete in 1942 to help the Cretan Resistance, which in May 1944 resulted in the abduction of a German general. Leigh Fermor settled in Greece in the 1960s, and lived there until his death in 2011. His books Roumeli: Travels in Northern Greece and Mani: Travels in the Southern Peloponnese are two of the best travel books in the English language. The talk is about his life and friends in Greece, and how much the country meant to him.

Copy of Kate Irvin & Laurie Anne Brewer-Fabricating a Dream: The Dandy's Silhouette
Drawing from their publication Artist/Rebel/Dandy: Men of Fashion (Yale University Press, 2013), Kate Irvin and Laurie Brewer will discuss the sometimes extreme physical transformations evident in the dandy's silhouette. The fashion practices of this iconic character will be analyzed through caricatures dating to the age of Beau Brummel, the quintessential dandy, and an examination of the artful modification of the male body at the hand of the tailor. In laying bare the secrets of the dandy aesthetic, the authors will present a figure who employed profound imagination in his appearance as he forged a unique path to self-discovery and self-expression.
