Pre-code drama ..... Pls note: I made a high-qual copy (= this is sharper than most "VF" on yt), but pls keep in mind that the source print is not so good. ..... Pretty much for the die-hard fans of Myrna and for those who are curious about those early roles in which she was miscast as the vamp/temptress. ..... Based on the Thackeray novel of the same name; Myrna plays Becky Sharp, who schemes to attain wealth and position -- only things don't turn out so well. ..... I've read that it was shot in 10 days, and that feels just about right. ..... Cast includes Conway Tearle, Barbara Kent, Billy Bevan, Montagu Love, and Lionel Belmore. Screenplay by F. Lux Radio Theater, a long-run classic radio anthology series, was broadcast on the NBC Blue Network (1934-35); CBS (1935-54) and NBC (1954-55). Initially, the series adapted Broadway plays during its first two seasons before it began adapting films. These hour-long radio programs were performed live before studio audiences. It became the most popular dramatic anthology series on radio, broadcast for more than 20 years and continued on television as the Lux Video Theatre through most of the 1950s. Broadcasting from New York, the series premiered at 2:30pm, October 14, 1934, on the NBC Blue Network with a production of Seventh Heaven starring Miriam Hopkins and John Boles in a full-hour adaptation of the 1922–24 Broadway production by Austin Strong. The host was the show's fictional producer, Douglass Garrick (portrayed by John Anthony). Doris Dagmar played another fictional character, Peggy Winthrop, who delivered the Lux commercials. Each show featured a scripted session with Garrick talking to the lead actors. Anthony appeared as Garrick from the premiere 1934 episode until June 30, 1935. Garrick was portrayed by Albert Hayes from July 29, 1935 to May 25, 1936, when the show moved to the West Coast. Cecil B. DeMille took over as the host on June 1, 1936, continuing until January 22, 1945. Greetings from Hollywood, Ladies And Gentleman...... The Guardian 2015-01-23Myrna Loy (August 2, 1905 – December 14, 1993) was an American actress. Trained as a dancer, she devoted herself fully to an acting career following a few minor roles in silent films. She was originally typecast in exotic roles, often as a vamp or a woman of Asian descent, but her career prospects improved following her portrayal of Nora Charles in The Thin Man (1934). Her successful pairing with William Powell resulted in 14 films together, including five subsequent Thin Man films. In 1937, she was crowned the "Queen of Hollywood" by a nationwide poll.
Loy was born Myrna Adele Williams in Helena, Montana, to Adelle Mae (née Johnson) and rancher David Franklin Williams, in nearby Radersburg. Her paternal grandparents were natives of Wales, and her maternal grandparents were Swedish and Scottish. Her first name came from a train station whose name her father liked. Her father was also a banker and real estate developer and the youngest man ever elected to the Montana state legislature. Her mother studied music at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago.
{Refrain :}
Marinella !
Ah..., reste encore dans mes bras,
Avec toi je veux jusqu'au jour
Danser cette rumba d'amour
Son rythme doux
Nous emporte bien loin de tout,
Vers un pays mystérieux,
Le beau pays des rêves bleus
Blottie contre mon épaule
Tandis que nos mains se frôlent,
Je vois tes yeux qui m'enjôlent
D'un regard plein de douceur
Et quand nos cœurs se confondent
Je ne connais rien au monde
De meilleur
Marinella !
Qui me trouble éperdÃ'ment
Se prolonge éternellement
{Refrain}
Quand le soleil se lèvera
Je sais que tu partiras
Et que notre roman joli
A jamais sera fini
Oui, mais avant, comme autrefois,
Viens vite tout près de moi
Et pour une dernière fois
{Refrain}
Well She's the only one I get up for
Go down to the station, she's a waiting there.
Myrna Lee, I'm alone in this city.
I saw a vision of Myra Lee,
In a foggy dark window
Myrna Lee, Like it used to be.
Chorus:
Your the only one I've waited for all this time.
Marynell, I did not know you very well
Marynell hello, how have you been?
Now nine years later here we sit
To hear this singer tell of it
And all those years drift back to me again.
I was lonely, you were probably lonely too
But in those days, I never would have known
High School kept us all apart
And we did not know how to start
To cut through the defenses we had grown.
The earliest of stirrings were already born inside
That, later on, would grow to greater length
We marched against the war, and Dr. King had not yet died
But we had not begun to test our strength.
How strange it passed, all those changes came so fast
As each new action burned upon our souls
It was a time to raise your voice, to try and make a moral choice
With freedom and equality our goals.
Marynell, I still don't know you very well
But we're part of something greater than ourselves.
Those restless days not far behind,
You at your school and I at mine
We took home more than books now on our shelves
I have the same convictions that I first knew back in school
Though quieter, they're with me everywhere
Though days of rage are silent now, these times are no less cruel
Tell me Marynell, do you still care?
Tell me Marynell, do you still care?
Marynell, I did not know you very well
Marynell hello, how have you been?
Now nine years later here we sit
To hear this singer tell of it
And all those years drift back to me again.
I was lonely, you were probably lonely too
But in those days, I never would have known
