Berg Publishers is an academic publishing company based in Oxford, England that was founded in 1983 by Marion Berghahn. Berg publishes monographs, textbooks and reference works as well as journals. Concentrations are fashion, design, anthropology, history and cultural studies. Berg is known as the publisher of Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture, edited by Valerie Steele, director of the museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. This journal pioneered the concept of fashion theory to bring the study of dress and fashion into the academic arena.
After an acrimonious split with Berg's investment partners, Berghahn founded a new company, Berghahn Books, in 1994 and started publishing again in 1995, specializing in the Social Sciences, especially in Social Anthropology and History. Berghahn Books currently publishes 25 journals and has more than 1000 titles in print.
In 2002, Berg managing director Kathryn Earle and director Sara Everett led a group of private investors in a management buyout of the company. Having managed the company since 1997, they had doubled sales since then to 750,000 pounds. In 2002 Berg published 50 new titles per year and had 400 in print. Its growth had been led by expansion into the US market, then using New York University Press as its distributor.

Matraca Maria Berg ( /məˈtreɪsə/; born February 3, 1964 in Nashville, Tennessee) is an American country music singer and songwriter. She has released five albums: three for RCA Records, one for Rising Tide Records and one for Dualtone Records, and has charted in the top 40 of the U.S. Billboard country charts with "Baby, Walk On" and "The Things You Left Undone," both at #36. Besides most of her own material, Berg has written hits for T.G. Sheppard, Karen Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Deana Carter and others. In 2008 she was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Matraca Berg's mother, Icie Berg, moved from Harlan County, Kentucky, to Nashville in the 1960s to seek her fortune as a singer and songwriter shortly before Matraca was born. Her Aunt Sudie Callaway was a successful Music Row backup singer. Aunts Coleida Callaway and Clara Howard were backup vocalists on Kentucky’s Renfro Valley Barn Dance. Uncle Jim Baker was a steel guitar player who also spent some time running Mel Tillis's song publishing companies.
Dean Dillon (born March 26, 1955) is an American country music artist. Between 1982 and 1993, Dillon recorded six studio albums on various labels, and charted several singles on the Billboard country charts. Although he has not charted since 1993, Dillon has continued to write several hit songs for other artists, most notably George Strait. He is the father of country music songwriter, Jessie Jo Dillon, and the two often collaborate.
Dillon is a native of Lake City, Tennessee, where he was born on March 26, 1955. He began playing the guitar at the age of seven, and when he was 15 he made his first public appearance as a singer and performer in the Knoxville variety show Jim Clayton Startime. After finishing high school in 1973 he hitchhiked to Nashville with hopes of starting a music career.
As a recording artist between 1979 and 1983, Dillon charted eight times, including one top 30 hit, "I'm into the Bottle (To Get You out of My Mind)." He was featured on several duet albums with songwriting partner Gary Stewart. Early songwriting success earned Dillon a recording deal with Capitol Records for whom he released two studio albums. In 1991, now at Atlantic Records, Dillon released his most successful and most recent studio album, Out of Your Ever Lovin' Mind.
