Back to Basics: Bipolar Transistor bias circuits and Beta dependence
This tutorial back-to-basics video discusses the operating point (or quiescent point, Q-point, bias point, etc.) of a bipolar transistor (BJT) circuit, and how the choice of the circuit design can affect how sensitive the bias point will be to the value of Beta (current gain) of the transistor. Ideally, you'd want to use a circuit which is completely independent of beta, so that a wide variety of transistors could potentially be used. Three different transistor bias circuits are demonstrated with three transistors, each with a different value of Beta. The current gain of the three transistors are measured and recorded, and then the resulti

#54: Back to Basics Tutorial: Voltage / Current in capacitors and inductors
#54: Back to Basics Tutorial: Voltage / Current in capacitors and inductors
This video describes the basic voltage and current relationship in capacitors and inductors. It describes what is meant by "leading" and "lagging" in current/voltage relationship, and shows why this occurs. Finally, these voltage and current relationships are shown using a signal source, a handful of parts and an oscilloscope.
FYI - I used a test frequency of approximately 725kHz, a test inductor of about 220uH, and a test capacitor of about 200pF.

#113: Basics of Transistor bias point and the class of amplifier operation
#113: Basics of Transistor bias point and the class of amplifier operation
This video gives the basics of the bias point, also called operating or quiescent point, of a bipolar transistor (BJT). For a BJT, there are three operating regions: Cutoff, Active and Saturation (note, these names differ a little when dealing with FETs). The Q-point will influence the "class of operation" of an amplifier circuit. Class A, B, C and AB are discussed and demonstrated. A copy of the video drawings can be found here:

#173: Introduction to RTL-SDR low cost software defined radio receivers
A very generous subscriber donated an RTL-SDR DVB-T TV Tuner dongle to the channel (Thanks John N!). This video gives a very brief introduction to these very inexpensive software defined radios. These little receivers can be picked up for $20 (or less!), and the software to run them is available for free, such as SDRsharp (SDR#) and HDSDR. A couple of very good links to get you started, including a really great "getting started" page which walks you through, step-by-step, getting your first RTL-SDR up and running:

#193: Back to Basics: the differential amplifier, aka long-tailed pair, diff-pair
Back to basics introduction to the differential amplifier, aka the diff-pair, long-tailed pair, emitter coupled pair, etc. The basic operation of the circuit is presented, along with a simple mechanical simulation. Also, how the addition of current sources and mirrors can be used to address some of the performance issues, and begin to form the rudimentary beginnings of an op amp. This is the follow-up video from "teaser" video published earlier.
