In this provocative book, Andrew Bacevich warns of a dangerous dual obsession that has taken hold of Americans, conservatives, and liberals alike. It is a marriage of militarism and utopian ideology--of unprecedented military might wed to a blind faith in the universality of American values. This mindset, the author warns, invites endless war and the ever-deepening militarization of U.S. policy. It promises not to perfect but to pervert American ideals and to accelerate the hollowing out of American democracy. As it alienates others, it will leave the United States increasingly isolated. It will end in bankruptcy, moral as well as economic, and in abject failure.

The Solar Team has flown to the country to prepare for the landing and followed the backup plan pre-established by the Mission Control Center. However, the aircraft doesn't have additional wheels, as it normally does for better stability, which might cause the wing to drop.

Anxiety over the financial future of Greece is only building. European equities are dramatically falling; by mid-afternoon, the Stoxx Europe 600 index was nearly one point five percent lower. At the same time, Athens’ main stock exchange fell almost 2.5%, taking declines to 41% in the last twelve months thereby making it one of the world’s worst performing indexes. Boom Bust guest host Ameera David weighs in.

Then, Ameera and Edward review the talks made by Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis and German finance minister Wolfgag Schaeuble at the Brookings Institution on Thursday and the very different visions the two laid out for sustainable growth in Greece and elsewhere in the Eurozone.

Afterwards, Erin sits down with Cate Long – partner at Puerto Rico Clearinghouse and founder of Multiple Markets. The two have a roundhouse conversation on the latest events surrounding Puerto Rico’s attempts to get to grips with its debt burden. Cate tells us how three cash-strapped public corporations in Puerto Rico will find the money they need to pay their creditors and gives us her take on the government’s implementing tax changes.

After the break, Bianca gives us a daily news update on other headlines including minimum wage protests in the US, German yields, Chinese property developers, and Argentina.

And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Erin discuss Etsy IPO and Yelp.

Solar Impulse on the way to Hawaii, was not able to cross to the Pacific due to the cold front and deteriorating weather conditions. Negotiations went on during the day to land in Nagoya, Japan. The Solar Team has flown to the country to prepare for the landing and followed the backup plan pre-established by the Mission Control Center. However, the aircraft doesn\'t have additional wheels, as it normally does for better stability, which might cause the wing to drop. HB-SIB landed safe in Nagoya (instead of Honolulu) at 2349 local time Japan (1449 UTC). André achieves a record-breaking flight in terms duration, this is officially the longest flight in a Solar Airplane! Stay tuned for the next update on takeoff for Hawaii #futureisclean!
