An ESPY Award (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) is an accolade presented by the Americancable television network ESPN to recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given annual ceremony. The first ESPYs were awarded in 1993. Because of the ceremony's rescheduling prior to the 2002 iteration thereof, awards presented in 2002 were for achievement and performances during the seventeen-plus months previous. As the similarly-styled Grammy (for music), Emmy (for television), and Academy Award (for film), the ESPYs are hosted by a contemporary celebrity; the style, though, is more relaxed, light, and self-referential than that of many other awards shows, with comedic sketches usually included. The host for the 2011 ESPYS is Seth Meyers and the head writer is Jonathan Drubner.
From their inception to 2004, ESPY Award winners were chosen only through voting by fans. Since 2004, sportswriters, broadcasters, sports executives, and sportspersons, collectively experts; or ESPN personalities also vote. Award winners have been selected thereafter exclusively through online fan balloting conducted from amongst candidates selected by the ESPY Select Nominating Committee.
Ferrell was born in Irvine, California, the son of Betty Kay (née Overman), a teacher who taught at Old Mill School elementary school and Santa Ana College, and Roy Lee Ferrell, Jr., a musician with The Righteous Brothers. His parents were both natives of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and moved to California in 1964; Ferrell has Irish ancestry. Ferrell has a younger brother, Patrick. When he was 8, his parents divorced. Ferrell said of the divorce, "I was the type of kid who would say, 'Hey Look at the bright side! We'll have two Christmases.'" The divorce was amicable and both parents were committed to their children. The biggest problem was Lee's line of work. As a person in show business, his paychecks were never steady and he was gone from home months at a time. Growing up in the environment made Ferrell not want to go into show business, but get a steady job.
Carell, the youngest of four brothers, was born at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts, and was raised in nearby Acton by his parents, Harriet T. (née Koch), a psychiatric nurse, and Edwin A. Carell, an electrical engineer. His maternal uncle, Stanley Koch, worked with Allen B. DuMont to create cathode ray tubes. Carell's paternal grandfather was Italian; his father was born with the surname "Caroselli", later shortening it to "Carell". Carell was raised Roman Catholic, and was educated at The Fenn School and Middlesex School. Carell also played ice hockey as a teenager for his high school.[citation needed] He played the fife, performing with other members of his family, and later joined a reenacting group portraying the 10th (North Lincoln) Regiment of Foot. Carell attributed his interest in history to this, in which he earned his degree from Denison University in Granville, Ohio in 1984. While at Denison, Carell was a member of Burpee's Seedy Theatrical Company, a student-run improvisational comedy troupe.

LeBron Raymone James (/ləˈbrɒn/; born December 30, 1984) is an American professional basketball player with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Standing at 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) and weighing 250 lb (113 kg), he has started at the small forward and power forward positions. James has won two NBA championships, four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, two NBA Finals MVP Awards, two Olympic gold medals, an NBA scoring title, and the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He has also been selected to 11 NBA All-Star teams, 10 All-NBA teams, and six All-Defensive teams, and is the Cavaliers' all-time leading scorer.
James played high school basketball at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, where he was highly promoted in the national media as a future NBA superstar. After graduating, he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft by the Cavaliers. James led Cleveland to the franchise's first Finals appearance in 2007, losing to the San Antonio Spurs. In 2010, he left the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in a highly publicized ESPN special titled "The Decision". In his first season in Miami, the Heat reached the Finals but lost to the Dallas Mavericks. James won his first championship in 2012 when Miami defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2013, he led the Heat on a 27-game winning streak, the second longest in league history. Miami also won its second consecutive title that year. In 2014, the Heat reached the Finals for the fourth consecutive year, eventually losing to the Spurs. Following Miami's defeat, James opted out of his contract with the Heat and rejoined the Cavaliers.
Off the court, James has accumulated considerable wealth and fame as a result of numerous endorsement deals. His public life has been the subject of much scrutiny and he has been ranked as one of America's most influential and popular athletes. He has been featured in books, documentaries, and television commercials, and has hosted the ESPY Awards and Saturday Night Live.

2013 NCAA Baseball National Champions - The UCLA Bruins Celebrate at Jackie Robinson Stadium
http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/bruins-family-celebrates-first-247142.aspx
When is it great to boast "we're 109?" When you are the UCLA baseball team and you can say that your first NCAA national championship is your school's record-extending 109th.
On Thursday afternoon, hundreds of blue-and-gold wearing fans happily cheered through the heat at Jackie Robinson Stadium to celebrate the team, which defeated Mississippi State in Omaha to capture UCLA's first College World Series title. Members of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band and of the UCLA Spirit Squad got the crowd fired up.
"We love these Bruins," said baseball play-by-play announcer John Ramey, who served as emcee at the fan rally. "Not because of what they did, but how they did it."
Ramey noted that this year's baseball team wasn't always highly regarded. They lacked big power hitters, instead relying on shutdown pitching and stellar defense. They rallied from deficits four times to win postseason games. "These Bruins are an inspiring bunch," Ramey said, "they play inspiring baseball and they are the national champions."
Head coach John Savage, introduced by Ramey as the "greatest baseball coach in all of the land," proudly held the NCAA championship trophy above his head as he walked from the third-base dugout to the podium near the pitching mound. Savage redirected the applause and cheers to the players, whom he characterized as a "dream team." He said that he loved how his players embraced their underdog role, and he noted that at one point he heard the team's success attributed in part to luck. "Good luck is a direct result of hard work, good preparation and great execution," Savage said. "Anybody that thinks it's luck doesn't know the game."
During his remarks, Savage introduced each player by name as he recited a highlight reel worth of important plays and contributions. He was especially proud to introduce the players who weren't there because they were playing in summer leagues under the watchful eyes of professional scouts.
Savage also noted that so many of the players he was gushing about were underclassmen. "A lot of the guys you see right there you'll be rooting for in 2014. It should be a lot of fun," he said.
Emphasizing the spirit of family that surrounded this team, Savage took time to thank everyone associated with the baseball program — from the person who makes the team's travel arrangements to the groundskeeper at Jackie Robinson Stadium to the student managers to the trainers to former coach Gary Adams, who led the Bruins for 30 seasons. Savage thanked Director of Athletics Dan Guerrero, who played for the baseball team in his student days, and also Jack and Rhodine Gifford, whose names are on the practice hitting facility behind right field.
Former Bruin Eric Karros, the Los Angeles Dodgers' career home run leader and now a broadcaster, said that it wasn't easy to express how proud he was of this team. "The best baseball being played in Los Angeles right now is by the UCLA Bruins. I made that comment on air," he said.
Rhea Turteltaub, vice chancellor of external affairs for UCLA, represented the university's administration on the field. "It's not often I get to be the DH for the chancellor but when I do this is the place I want to do it," said Turteltaub, whose two children have been team batboys at Jackie Robinson Stadium. "To see the growth and what you've accomplished — it's really just a thrill for me to be up there today and congratulate you. We celebrate you today for bringing home trophy number 109, but we treasure you for making it number one for UCLA baseball."
After the remarks and a team photo, fans were invited onto the field to get autographs from the players and coaches. The UCLA baseball jersey that Gio Camino from Orange County was wearing was nearly covered in autographs. "What's not to love about this team?," he said as his sons were getting a bat and helmet signed.
Pitcher Ryan Deeter said that winning the championship let him know that "all the struggle, it's all worth it." In between signing autographs, Deeter said that the unofficial team motto was to make the pleasure a little better than the pressure.
After the celebration, the Bruins bussed to Dodger Stadium to be introduced and to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before tonight's game between the Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies.
The baseball team's triumph clinched the first-ever Capital One Cup for UCLA men's athletics. The Capital One Cup is awarded to the best men's and women's Division I college athletics programs in the country. The award, which brings prestige and $200,000 in scholarship money, will be presented at the ESPY awards in July.

Novak Djokovic (Serbian: Novak Đoković, Новак Ђоковић, pronounced [nôʋaːk d͡ʑôːkoʋit͡ɕ] ( listen); born 22 May 1987) is a Serbian professional tennis player and former world No. 1 who is currently ranked world No. 2 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He is generally considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
Djokovic has won six Grand Slam singles titles and has held the No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings for a total of 101 weeks. By winning three Grand Slam titles in 2011, Djokovic became the sixth male player to win three Grand Slams in a calendar year. By reaching the 2012 French Open final, he became the ninth player in the Open Era to reach the final of all four Grand Slam singles tournaments and became only the fifth to do so consecutively. Amongst other titles, he won the Tennis Masters Cup in 2008, 2012 and 2013 and was on the Serbian team which won the 2010 Davis Cup. He also won the Bronze medal in men's singles at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He has won 19 Masters 1000 series titles, breaking a single-season record with five titles in 2011. This places him third on the list of Masters 1000 winners since its inception in 1990.
He holds several men's world records of the Open Era: becoming the youngest player in the Open Era to have reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events both separately and consecutively; the first and only man to win three consecutive Australian Open titles in the Open Era; and playing the longest Grand Slam men's singles final in history (5 hours 53 minutes). Djokovic's ATP tournament records include winning 31 consecutive ATP World Tour Masters 1000 series matches, playing in the finals at all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments (a record shared by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal), and being the only player to win eight.
Djokovic is the first Serbian player to win multiple Grand Slams and the first Serbian player to rank No. 1 for more than 100 weeks. He is the first male player representing Serbia to win a Grand Slam singles title. Djokovic has won numerous awards, including the 2011 Laureus World Sports Award for Sportsman of the Year and the 2012 Best Male Tennis Player ESPY Award. He has won the ATP World Tour Player of the Year twice consecutively, in 2011 and 2012. He is a recipient of the Order of St. Sava and the Order of the Star of Karađorđe.
Djokovic was born on 22 May 1987 in Belgrade, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, to parents Srđan and Dijana (née Žagar). His two younger brothers, Marko and Đorđe, are also tennis players with professional aspirations. Residing in Monte Carlo, Djokovic has been coached by former Slovak tennis player Marián Vajda since 2006. Similar to Roger Federer, Djokovic is a self-described fan of languages, speaking Serbian, English, German, Italian and a little French. He has been dating Jelena Ristić since 2005 and the two became engaged in September 2013. On 24 April 2014, he announced on his Twitter page that he and Jelena are expecting their first child.
Djokovic began playing tennis at the age of four. In the summer of 1993, the six-year-old was spotted by Yugoslav tennis player Jelena Genčić at Mount Kopaonik where Djokovic's parents ran a fast-food parlour. Upon seeing Djokovic play tennis, she stated: "This is the greatest talent I have seen since Monika Seleš." Genčić worked with young Djokovic over the following six years before realizing that, due to his rapid development, going abroad in search of increased level of competition was the best option for his future. To that end, she contacted Nikola Pilić and in September 1999 the 12-year-old moved to the Pilić tennis academy in Oberschleißheim, Germany, spending four years there. At the age of 14, he began his international career, winning European championships in singles, doubles, and team competition.
Djokovic is known for his often humorous off-court impersonations of his fellow players, many of whom are his friends. This became evident to the tennis world after his 2007 US Open quarterfinal win over Carlos Moyá, where he entertained the audience with impersonations of Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova. His impersonations have also become very popular on video sharing website YouTube. Djokovic also did an impression of John McEnroe after his fourth round match victory at the 2009 US Open, before playing a brief game with McEnroe, much to the delight of the audience. Novak Djokovic is a member of the "Champions for Peace" club, a group of famous elite athletes committed to serving peace in the world through sport, created by Peace and Sport, a Monaco-based international organization.

LeBron James I'm Coming Home
