The Mini is a small economy car that was made by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original is considered a British icon of the 1960s, and its space-saving front-wheel drive layout — allowing 80% of the area of the car's floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage — influenced a generation of car makers. The vehicle is in some ways considered the British equivalent to its German contemporary the Volkswagen Beetle, which enjoyed similar popularity in North America. In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T.
This distinctive two-door car was designed for BMC by Sir Alec Issigonis. It was manufactured at the Longbridge and Cowley plants in England, the Victoria Park / Zetland British Motor Corporation (Australia) factory in Sydney, Australia, and later also in Spain (Authi), Belgium, Chile, Italy (Innocenti), Malta, Portugal, South Africa, Uruguay, Venezuela and Yugoslavia. The Mini Mark I had three major UK updates — the Mark II, the Clubman and the Mark III. Within these was a series of variations, including an estate car, a pick-up truck, a van and the Mini Moke — a jeep-like buggy. The Mini Cooper and Cooper "S" were sportier versions that were successful as rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally four times from 1964 through to 1967, although in 1966 the Mini was disqualified after the finish, along with six other British entrants, which included the first four cars to finish, under a questionable ruling that the cars had used an illegal combination of headlamps and spotlights. Initially Minis were marketed under the Austin and Morris names, as the Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor, until Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969. The Mini was again marketed under the Austin name in the 1980s.

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG 
pronunciation (help·info) (BMW; English: Bavarian Motor Works) is a German automobile, motorcycle and engine manufacturing company founded in 1917. BMW is headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It also owns and produces the Mini marque, and is the parent company of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. BMW produces motorcycles under BMW Motorrad and Husqvarna brands. In 2010, the BMW group produced 1,481,253 automobiles and 112,271 motorcycles across all its brands.
BMW was established as a business entity following a restructuring of the Rapp Motorenwerke aircraft engine manufacturing firm in 1917. After the end of World War I in 1918, BMW was forced to cease aircraft engine production by the terms of the Versailles Armistice Treaty. The company consequently shifted to motorcycle production in 1923, once the restrictions of the treaty started to be lifted, followed by automobiles in 1928–29.
The first car which BMW successfully produced and the car which launched BMW on the road to automobile production was the Dixi, it was based on the Austin 7 and licensed from the Austin Motor Company in Birmingham, England.

So I read a lot of posts on the internet about how difficult and annoying it is to change the rear wishbone bushes on the R53 Mini's. Mine were shot - had the whole wobbly braking, and fighting with the steering malarkey. Wheels were moving back and forth quite a bit more than I'd like. Decided to use Powerflex bushes instead of OE as they seemed easier to fit and give better handling. SO! Remove inner and bottom ball joints. Always a ballache but not too bad on mine. Hello Birmingham Spanner!! Now the fun part- removing the wishbone from the bush. WD40 and a pry-bar come in MEGA handy here. Ok wishbone out, next to get the bush out. Whi

So I read a lot of posts on the internet about how difficult and annoying it is to change the rear wishbone bushes on the R53 Mini's. Mine were shot - had the whole wobbly braking, and fighting with the steering malarkey. Wheels were moving back and forth quite a bit more than I'd like.
Decided to use Powerflex bushes instead of OE as they seemed easier to fit and give better handling.

Remove inner and bottom ball joints. Always a ballache but not too bad on mine. Hello Birmingham Spanner!!
Now the fun part- removing the wishbone from the bush. WD40 and a pry-bar come in MEGA handy here.
Ok wishbone out, next to get the bush out. Which I bought a £35 bush puller, specific to this job from eBay. Godsend! Made it so easy to get it out. And I mean easy. Unfortunately the threaded bar snapped whilst doing the second bush, lucky for me I work at an engineering company and had a spare threaded bar in the back of the car and used this :-D
Video shows the removal using the tool, you can use it to push the new bush in. I'll put up another video of pushing it in.
Assemble the bush and lever it back into place and reattach ball joints.
BOOM, job done! 2 hours 30 all in.

So I read a lot of posts on the internet about how difficult and annoying it is to change the rear wishbone bushes on the R53 Mini's. Mine were shot - had the whole wobbly braking, and fighting with the steering malarkey. Wheels were moving back and forth quite a bit more than I'd like.
Decided to use Powerflex bushes instead of OE as they seemed easier to fit and give better handling.
SO!
Remove inner and bottom ball joints. Always a ballache but not too bad on mine. Hello Birmingham Spanner!!

This DIY (Do It Yourself) How-To video shows how to install the Bavarian Autosport Custom Fit Seat Covers
Whether your BMW or MINI seats need a pick-me-up or you wish to prevent wear and keep them in great shape for the future, the Bavarian Autosport custom fit seat covers are a great looking way to improve or protect them. These covers are custom cut and fit for each individual seat type and design. And, they cover the complete seat, so you can even perform a color change if desired.
Since these custom fit covers do “fit like a glove”, we recommend that the seats be removed from the vehicle for the cover installations. This gives full access to all of the seat panels for a professional looking install. In this DIY video, we will show an example of a front seat removal and the installation of the front seat cover set. Different BMW or MINI models will have variations on the seat removal procedures as well as the actual cover set installation. However, the video will give you the basic install procedures that you can apply to your specific model. The applicable Bentley Publishing repair manual will guide you in the seat removal.

Although the third generation Mini Cooper hatchback looks like a mild refresh of the previous two generations, it is in fact an all-new vehicle. The third generation brings a body that is 4 inches longer, almost 2 inches wider and a hair taller than the 2012 MINI Cooper. The result is a more stable platform with a smoother ride. Of course the ever-growing dimensions mean you won't be able to squeeze your MINI in as many spots, but you'll be more comfortable on the journey.
Rather than continuing the use of a unique platform, the 2015 MINI shares much of its structure with the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer (218i and 225i) which adds an unexpected amount of refinement to the tiny hatch.
Under the hood we no longer find the PSA Citroën four-cylinder engines, BMW has refocused their small car strategy and pulled everything in house with a new line of modular engines. The base 1.5L 3-Cylinder engine is one of only four three-cylinder mills sold in America in 2014. Shared with the European 225i and the hybrid-electric BMW i8, the 3-pot is actually faster than the outgoing 1.6L four-cylinder base engine. S models get a related 2.0L 4-cylinder engine from the same modular family. Anyone hope BMW makes a 2.5L 5-cylinder, or is that just me?
With this generation MINI has further cemented their position as the only premium subcompact in America. The interior has been totally redesigned with higher quality materials (and the exact same design theme as before), new seats and the latest version of BMW's iDrive navigation and infotainment system dubbed MINI Connected.
Without any other premium sub-compacts on our shores, comparisons are tricky. The MINI doesn't really compete with the Kia Rio, Kia Soul, Mazda2, Ford Fiesta or any other vehicles in the same size class. Instead the MINI continues to be a cheeky and stylish alternative to the CLA250, Audi A3, Volvo S60, and even BMW's own 320i.
