At the Shanghai Auto Show this past week, MINI announced MINI Augmented Vision, incorporating technologies from several Qualcomm companies. MINI Augmented Vision is the first digital eyewear with see-through technology offering connectivity to a vehicle. This concept seamlessly interconnects applications inside and outside the vehicle while providing the driver with greater vision, increased safety and comfort. The eyewear is powered by both the Qualcomm Vuforia mobile vision platform and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, and is designed to effortlessly provide information directly to the drivers’ eyes.

Drivers will experience a number of benefits from the eyewear, like parking assistance and real-time driving updates. Additional features users will experience include:
Vehicle speed and speed limit information
Navigation directions fixed to real-world with real-time updates

External “X-ray” view to recognize potential hazards outside the vehicle
Assistance for first and last mile navigation (navigation outside and to/from the vehicle)
The Vuforia software, running on the powerful Snapdragon 805 mobile processor embedded in the eyewear, uses sensors and a camera to accurately determine the position and orientation of the glasses within the environment of the car. Vuforia is then able to compute location and display appropriate user interface elements with minimal “motion to photon” latency. The result is that the user interface for the MINI Augmented Vision application appears to be anchored to the vehicle windshield, just as a traditional head-up display would appear.
Digital eyewear for the automotive industry is only in its infancy. By bringing AR to life with MINI Augmented Reality, we are a step closer to safer, more informed drivers and a more comfortable experience while in your vehicle.

This DIY (Do It Yourself) How-To video shows how to install the Bavarian Autosport Custom Fit Seat Covers
Whether your BMW or MINI seats need a pick-me-up or you wish to prevent wear and keep them in great shape for the future, the Bavarian Autosport custom fit seat covers are a great looking way to improve or protect them. These covers are custom cut and fit for each individual seat type and design. And, they cover the complete seat, so you can even perform a color change if desired.
Since these custom fit covers do “fit like a glove”, we recommend that the seats be removed from the vehicle for the cover installations. This gives full access to all of the seat panels for a professional looking install. In this DIY video, we will show an example of a front seat removal and the installation of the front seat cover set. Different BMW or MINI models will have variations on the seat removal procedures as well as the actual cover set installation. However, the video will give you the basic install procedures that you can apply to your specific model. The applicable Bentley Publishing repair manual will guide you in the seat removal.

Although the third generation Mini Cooper hatchback looks like a mild refresh of the previous two generations, it is in fact an all-new vehicle. The third generation brings a body that is 4 inches longer, almost 2 inches wider and a hair taller than the 2012 MINI Cooper. The result is a more stable platform with a smoother ride. Of course the ever-growing dimensions mean you won't be able to squeeze your MINI in as many spots, but you'll be more comfortable on the journey.
Rather than continuing the use of a unique platform, the 2015 MINI shares much of its structure with the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer (218i and 225i) which adds an unexpected amount of refinement to the tiny hatch.
