The BMW 3 Series is the king of the hill in the compact executive car class and is a great car to drive. That said, it's not perfect -- the cabin, for example, is not as versatile or spacious as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and the boot is not as large the one in Audi's A4. Even so, it's a good all-rounder, and what's more it has some of the cleanest, greenest engines in its class. The diesel versions offer staggering fuel economy, as well as being refined and powerful, while the range-topping V8-engined M3 offers supercar-rivalling performance. That said, standard 3 Series models lag behind the class best for comfort, especially in M Sport trim.

Designers have worked hard to improve BMW in every area, while there's now a model to suit every taste and budget, including ES, ED, SE, Luxury, Modern and Sport. The BMW 3 Series is a compact executive car manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. Successor to the BMW New Class, it has been produced in six different generations and in no fewer than five different body styles. It is BMW's best-selling model, accounting for around 30% of the BMW brand's annual total sales (excluding motorbikes).
BMW released its E21 in the wake of the 1973 oil crisis, attracting customers seeking both prestige and economy, nearly doubling BMW's worldwide auto sales figures in three years, and winning numerous automotive world awards and honours. The 3 series has also maintained BMW's racing heritage. The M version of the 3 series, M3, debuted in 1988.
There have been six generations of the 3 Series, and their respective chassis codes:
The two-door saloon model only. A factory authorised cabrio version was also built by Baur. The series was superseded by the BMW E30 series.
The cockpit design of the E21 marked the introduction of a new design concept for BMW, with the center console angled towards the driver. This feature has become part of BMW’s interior design philosophy for many years. As a sign of passive safety, all edges and control elements within the interior were rounded off and padded.

But there was always the rumour that BMW would give the 4 Series the same treatment as the 6 Series, and launch a 4-door version, dubbed the Gran Coupe.
And there was always the possibility that this would end up being a terrible idea. But it wasn't, and the 4 Series Gran Coupe is very good in almost every way.
However, BMW already has a very successful sedan – the 3 Series. It has been the sector-defining car for as long as anyone can remember, and the latest generation is a solid example of what BMW can offer.
And so you, the buyer, are now faced with a difficult decision: should you plump up and spend the extra cash on a 4-door 4 Series, or is the 3 Series more than enough?
We’ve tried to answer that question in our latest video, lining up the 328i against the 428i Gran Coupe.

BMW 3 Series E90 Oil Filter Housing Gasket DIY
In this video I show you how to replace the oil filter gasket specifically on a BMW 3 Series E90 with an N51 or N52 6 cylinder engine. The oil filter housing gasket is very common to start leaking which can lead to secondary failures due to oil contamination. I have seen serpentine belts come apart due to this oil leak and not only damage other components like coolant hoses, but also get sucked into the front main seal causing damage. I have also seen the belt material get into the engine through the front main seal causing the oil pan to need to be removed to clean out the debris that is clogging the oil pickup. The oil can also cause the water pump hoses to fail which can fail if they get oil onto the hoses. -

Welcome to this Autogefühl preview of the new BMW 3 Series Facelift. Looking forward to your thoughts about the product update - but first, let us give you some information about it. In this video we will see the BMW 340i Sedan Sport Line, here in Mediterranean Blue metallic, the BMW 330d Touring Luxury Line, here in this Platin Silver metallic and also the BMW 340i Sedan M Sport Package in champagne quarz metallic, it will be all marked with an insert. All the interiors in different colours are also coming up, so be sure to check that.
40 years ago BMW started with the 3 Series and founded the segment of sporty mid-class sedans. It is the most successful BMW model, making out one quarter of the total vehicle sales.
The changes on the exterior are rather minor, the biggest changes are new engines and also an updated interior. In this video, we ll see the 3 Series Sedan 340i with M Sport Package as well as a 330d Touring in Luxury Line. Theses two, as well as the 335d, are always equipped with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission, whereas the smaller engine models will start with the 6-speed manual gear box and have the automatic one as an option.
There still will be 6- and 4-cylinders, however, the engine lineup will now also start with 3-cylinders.
Looking at the exterior, we see new front bumpers and new headlights. Full-LED headlights can now be specified as an option. In the rear, LED lights are now standard.
The interior, which you will later see in this video, so stay tuned, will feature new materials and additional chrome highlights for the controls, air vents and central control panel. Also there is a newly crafted sliding cover for the cupholders - woohoo.
On the technology side, the infotainment unit will now also support the LTE standard.
Lets now take detailed looks on the exterior and interior of the 3 Series Facelift with sedan and the Touring estate model - and let me know what you think.

Also, while the 328i comes with an all new 2.0L turbocharged four banger, the 335i still retains the turbocharged straight six. During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Hello and welcome to Saabkyle04! YouTube's largest collection of automotive variety! In today's video, we will take an up close and personal in depth look at the all new 6th generation 2012 BMW 328i Sedan. Redesigned from the ground up, the newest 3 series boasts more power, refinement, and economy. Not to mention lighter, and tighter than the 5th generation, which combined with the new powertrain set up, really adds to the sporty character that the 3 series has always been known about. A non traditional design blending many of BMW's new design philosophies, a more refined and opulent interior, not to mention increased customization. With BMW's new design themes or "lines" the buyer can customize their 3 series to directly fit their personality. For the 2012 model year, only the sedan has changed to the 6th generation. Also, while the 328i comes with an all new 2.0L turbocharged four banger, the 335i still retains the turbocharged straight six. During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

In this video I show you how to replace the oil filter gasket specifically on a BMW 3 Series E90 with an N51 or N52 6 cylinder engine. The oil filter housing gasket is very common to start leaking which can lead to secondary failures due to oil contamination. I have seen serpentine belts come apart due to this oil leak and not only damage other components like coolant hoses, but also get sucked into the front main seal causing damage. I have also seen the belt material get into the engine through the front main seal causing the oil pan to need to be removed to clean out the debris that is clogging the oil pickup. The oil can also cause the water pump hoses to fail which can fail if they get oil onto the hoses.
