Sugar Blues is a book by William Dufty that was released in 1975 and has become a dietary classic. According to the publishers, over 1.6 million copies have been printed. A digest called Refined Sugar: the Sweetest Poison of Them All was prepared by Dufty, see #External links.
Dufty uses the narrative form to delve into the history of sugar and history of medicine. He mentions whistle blowers, such as Semmelweiss, to remind readers of the discontinuities in standard science. He also delves into the history of Cuba, history of slavery, history of tobacco and tobacco curing to present the sociology of sugar.
The status of sugar, as a product of refining, was compared to drugs:
Later, the euphemism, "made from natural ingredients", is cited as equally applicable to heroin and sugar. (page 148)
The book has fourteen chapters, seventy-eight references, five pages of notes, and a ten page index. The book reviews the history of the world from the point of view of sugar, sounding the alarm of its deleterious and debilitating effects. The chapters are:
Clyde McCoy (Dec.29,1903 - June 11,1990), a famous jazz trumpet player, is best remembered for his themes song, Sugar Blues, and popularity expanding seven decades. Introduced in 1967, the Vox Clyde McCoy Wah-wah pedal was the most significant guitar effect of its time. Invented by a young engineer named Brad Plunkett[1], who worked for the Thomas Organ Company — Vox/JMIs U.S. counterpart — the wah circuit basically sprang from the 3-position midrange voicing function used on the Vox Super Beatle amplifier. Vox cleverly packaged the circuit into an enclosure with a rocker pedal attached to the pot (which controlled the frequency of the resonant peak) and named the new device after trumpeter Clyde McCoy, who was known for the signature wah sound he created with a mute in the bell of his...

Many consider Sugar Blues by William Dufty one of the foundational books in the modern health movement. While some think Dufty goes too far in his criticism of the sugar industry, his arguments about the potential danger of processed sugar to the human body, especially when taken in such large quantities as the average American diet, are compelling. Sugar Blues -- High Society Jazz Band 1960 The Sugar blues was recorded by Clarence Williams, obviously he played it many times in the late twenties with vocals by his wife Eva Taylor. . Many years later, Billy Poole, virtually unknown, recorded this tune again with the High Society Jazz Band from France. It is just amazing how Billie and the band stylewise flow together. A total listening pleasure for the lover of early classic jazz. The musicians in the band are leader and trombonist Mowli Jospin with Pierre Merlin trumpet, Claude Rabinet trumpet, Pierre Atlan clarinet., Martine Morel piano, Christian Gervais banjo, Raymond Fonseque tuba and Michel Miroux drums. This is a band that was formed in 1947 and specialized in the very early styles of jazz of the years 1900-1930. They stll...
Music video by Jeff Healey performing Sugar Blues (Live). In This unique live concert Jeff Healey playing trumpet and guitar, leads his excellent band The Jazz Wizards forward into musical history. As always, he delivers jazz from the past with humor, respect for the tradition, and a contemporary attitude. Healey gained worldwide fame as a stunningly original rock/blues guitarist. His passion, however, was the infectious and joyful music from the classic jazz era - the days when Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke ruled the music world.

http://www.feeling-terrific.com/ About Joe: Health has been a big part of my life from an early age, thanks to the influence of my dad, Dr. Michael L. Johnson. I became interested in nutrition over ten years ago, as I found it fascinating how food could have such a large effect on my body composition, energy levels, and overall happiness. After studying nutrition independently for several years, I became seriously committed after encountering some health challenges of my own. Emotional stress, drinking too much, and eating gluten caused my adrenal glands to burn out. This meant that my cortisol and other hormone levels were messed up, leaving me groggy in the morning and wide awake at bedtime. My energy levels would fluctuate wildly throughout the day - I would wake up after breakfast, ...
Now I'm not the type to worry
Especially if it's concerning my health
Oh no, I'd never worry
I'd much rather do something else
I'm changing my point of view
Ever since I caught me the sugar blues
Oh that sugar
It adds a little sweetness in your life
Oh sugar
Won't you add a little sweetness to my life
You see I'm changing my point of view
Ever since I caught me the sugar bluesSee I'm changing my point of view
Ever since I caught me the sugar blues
Yes, I'm changing my point of view
Ever since I got me the sugar blues
You see I'm changing my point of view
Ever since I caught me,
Ever since I caught me the sugar blues
Oh yes
I need me a sugar beet
I'm not the type that would complain
Just give me sugar cane
Give me
Gimme
Gimme
Gimme
