Italian authorities launched a “vast anti-terrorism operation” on Friday after al Qaeda suspects discussed targets which included the Vatican. Some of the terrorists had direct contact with Osama bin Laden before his death in 2011. Wiretaps revealed the group planned to terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Italy. Talk of attacking the Vatican took place in 2010 and some of these suspects are believed to have been involved in the Pakistani market bombing in 2009. Many have been under surveillance for years and are expected to be arrested after raids target the terrorist headquarters on Friday. Number 2. American contractor Warren Weinstein has been pronounced dead after a anti-terror strike back in January. Weinstein was taken hostage by al Qaeda back in 2011. On January 14th of this year, the CIA decided to carry out a drone strike on an al Qaeda compound which they believed did not hold any hostages.The White House made the announcement of Weinstein’s death on Thursday. His wife, Elaine, said her husband's return “should have been priority for them based on his contributions to their country.” Number 3. Three more women have come forward, accusing comedian Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting them decades ago. The number of victims has now reached to 40. According to Reuters, the women Janice Baker Kinney, Marcella Tate and Autumn Burns held a press conference in hopes that fans would boycott Cosby’s final performance on his latest comedy tour.Janice Baker-Kinney claims her encounter with Cosby occurred back in 1982 while she was bartending in Reno. Cosby offered her three pills and she lost consciousness, regaining it while in bed with Cosby. Marcella Tate and Autumn Burns had similar stories, claiming they may have been drugged by the comedian and were unable to fend him off. Celebrity attorney Gloria Allred hopes this press conference will have an affect on Cosbys final performance on May 2nd. Number 4. Actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck asked PBS “Finding Your Roots” producers to remove any reference to his slave-owning ancestor. This PBS show uses genealogical research to find the family history of famous Americans. It turns out that Afflecks great-great-great grandfather, Benjamin Cole, was a Georgia slave owner in the mid 1800s. And apparently, the show’s producer, Henry Louis Gates Jr. reluctantly accepted the plea. Leaked emails between Gates and Sony Pictures chief Michael Layton showed discussion on whether or not to grant Affleck his request. Number 5. And just when you thought it was over, our favorite crew comes racing back into our lives. Vin Diesel announced that Fast and the Furious 8 is definitely happening! Diesel made the announcement at Universals CinemaCon saying, “It means a lot to me to get your blessing.”
