An acoustic guitar is a guitar that produces sound acoustically—by transmitting the vibration of the strings to the air—as opposed to relying on electronic amplification (see Electric guitar). The sound waves from the strings of an acoustic guitar resonate through the guitar's body, creating sound. This typically involves the use of a sound board and a sound box to strengthen the vibrations of the strings.
The main source of sound in an acoustic guitar is the string, which is plucked or strummed with the finger or with a plectrum. The string vibrates at a necessary frequency and also create many harmonics at various different frequencies. The frequencies produced can depend on string length, mass, and tension. The string causes the soundboard and sound box to vibrate, and as these have their own resonances at certain frequencies, they amplify some string harmonics more strongly than others, hence affecting the timbre produced by the instrument.
Gitterns, a small plucked guitar were the first small like guitar instruments created during the Middle Ages with a round back like that of a lute. Guitar like shaped instruments were not seen until the Renaissance era where the body and size began to take a guitar like shape.
Todd or Todds may refer to:
A baker is someone who makes, bakes and sells breads, rolls, biscuits or cookies, and/or crackers using an oven or other concentrated heat source. Cakes and similar foods may also be produced, as the traditional boundaries between what is produced by a baker as opposed to a pastry chef have blurred in recent decades. The place where a baker works is called a bakery.
The first group of people to bake bread were ancient Egyptians, around 8000 BC. During the Middle Ages, it was common for each landlord to have a bakery, which was actually a public oven; housewives would bring dough that they had prepared to the baker, who would tend the oven and bake them into bread. As time went on, bakers would also sell their own goods, and in that some bakers acted dishonestly, tricks emerged: for example, a baker might have trap door(s) in the oven or other obscured areas, that would allow a hidden small boy or other apprentice to take off some of the dough brought in for baking. Then the dishonest baker would sell bread made with the stolen dough as their own. This practice and others eventually lead to the famous regulation known as Assize of Bread and Ale, which prescribed harsh penalties for bakers that were found cheating their clients or customers. As a safeguard against cheating, under-filled orders, or any appearance of impropriety, bakers commonly began to throw in one more loaf of bread; this tradition now exists in the phrase "baker's dozen", which is 13.
Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1 is a live album by American singer/songwriter Jackson Browne, released in 2005 (see 2005 in music). It reached number 4 on the Top Independent Albums chart and number 8 on the Top Internet Albums chart.
Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1 was Browne's first live release since 1977's landmark Running on Empty. The performances were recorded at various locations in the United States and Europe during Browne's 2004 solo acoustic tour. The live version of "Lives in the Balance" from the album was released as a promotional single.
"The Birds of St. Marks" was originally written in 1970 and sometimes played in live performances, but was not released on any recordings until this release. "The Rebel Jesus" is a bonus track on Australian and Japanese versions, and on special edition CDs bought in the U.S. at Best Buy.
At 48th Grammy Awards Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1 was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
Writing for Allmusic, music critic Thom Jurek wrote: "The music here speaks for itself... his gift as a songwriter is enigmatic, unassailable, and singular."
Alarm Will Sound is a 20-member chamber orchestra that focuses on recordings and performances of contemporary music. The New York Times said that Alarm Will Sound is "one of the most vital and original ensembles on the American music scene."
Alarm Will Sound's repertoire ranges from European to American works, from the arch-modernist to the pop-influenced. The group has worked with contemporary composers, premiering pieces by Steve Reich,John Adams,Tyondai Braxton,David Lang,Anthony Gatto, Cenk Ergün, Aaron Jay Kernis, Michael Gordon,Augusta Read Thomas, Stefan Freund, John Orfe, Caleb Burhans, Dennis Desantis and Wolfgang Rihm.

Plot: Based on horrific true events, American Girls is a dark, nihilistic tale about the abduction, rape and murder of two high school girls and the fallout that nearly decimates a small Midwestern town, as long buried secrets surface when the police begin to put together the pieces of the crime. Using the framework of movies such as The Social Network, American Girls offers no easy answers. Using multiple character points of view, the film presents a harrowing, psychologically astute look at a tragic crime and an uncompromising glimpse at what contributed to the death of the girls, the aftermath their families face, and the utterly evil personae of their killers.

It's been a while since I uploaded a new video - so here are the fruits of my Easter weekend 2012. A bit of an epic, which I've been getting together over the last year or two. Not the easiest track to get a good take of... :) The guitar is a Lowden O32C - this is the first time I've recorded with it and I was pretty amazed at how well it records. It has such an open and musical sound and is a real inspiration. The guitar is in standard tuning with the capo on the first fret. The recording was made in Lydian Studios, London. A new instrumental that has taken shape over the last few months. With plenty of ups and downs recently, I've been grateful for time with the guitar, enjoying getting lost in the music. As always, thanks so much for the many kind comments and shares on this channel - the response I've had to the music here really does mean a lot to me! I love this tuning: C♯ G♯ D♯ F♯ B D♯ - Also works great dropped to C. You basically have an open Minor 7 Chord from the A string, with the low note on the E string making it into a kind of open 11th chord. Microphones are Neumann KM184 If you enjoy my music here, check out my band "Lydian Collective" and other music projects over at the Lydian Label channel!: https://www.youtube.com/user/LydianLabelOnline

Something a bit different :) This is a cover version of a composition by Alex de Grassi & Michael Manring from the 'Demania' album. Quite a challenge to play and a bit of a workout, but lots of fun! Ida and I have been working on it for a while and thought it would be nice to record a performance in the studio. For more info about Ida and her awesome playing and teaching, check out her website: http://www.idahollis.com/ The recording was made in Lydian Studios, London. Hello again! I've been writing a few solo compositions since my last upload, generally taking way to long over finishing them :) But this one happened to come together from scratch in the last few weeks. It's a quite simple, melody-led arrangement and the first video I've made playing the nylon string. It was written with someone in mind. Thanks as always for so many kind comments and shares - the response I've had to the music on this channel really does mean a lot to me! I hate to see when you cry
That sad look in your eyes
All those tears on your face
You ain't got nothin' to say
You've been caught by surprise
And you ran out of lies
When I ask questions why
All that you do is cry
You say it's 'cause you love me, say it's cause you
Care
The same tears you cry, girl, to me when you swear
That we will never be torn apart, but here we go
All these tears you keep cryin', girl, I've got to
Know
Did you cry when you were lovin' him (Did you cry)
When you said that he was just your friend
Did you cry when you were on the phone (Did you cry)
Makin' plans 'cause I wasn't at home
Did you cry all the times that you lied (Did you cry)
Lied about where you've been last night
I can't believe all these tears fallin' down
If you didn't cry then, then don't you cry now
You must think I'm a fool
Tryin' to play me like you do
To deceive me this way
Girl, you ought to be ashamed
I've been taught, girl, by you
I can't trust what you do
'Cause you lie and you cheat
Then you cry so easily
You say it's 'cause you love me, say it's cause you
Care
The same tears you cry, girl, to me when you swear
That we will never be torn apart, but here we go
All these tears you keep cryin', girl, I wanna know
Did you cry when you were lovin' him (Did you cry)
When you said that he was just your friend
Did you cry when you were on the phone (Did you cry)
Makin' plans 'cause I wasn't at home
Did you cry all the times that you lied (Did you cry)
