Celebrity is a 1998 comedy-drama film written and directed by Woody Allen. The screenplay focuses on the divergent paths a couple takes following their divorce.
Lee Simon (Kenneth Branagh) is an unsuccessful novelist turned travel writer who immerses himself in celebrity journalism following a midlife crisis and subsequent divorce from his insecure wife, Robin (Judy Davis), a former English teacher, after sixteen years of marriage.
As he stumbles his way through both professional encounters and sexual escapades with performers, models, and other players in the world of entertainment, Lee increasingly questions his purpose in life. He blows numerous opportunities due to his fame-seeking and neuroses.
Meanwhile, Robin trades her many neuroses for a makeover and a job with television producer Tony Gardella (Joe Mantegna) that leads to her own celebrity interview program. She takes advantage of numerous opportunities and ends up happy and successful.
The film was shot in black-and-white on location in New York City by cinematographer Sven Nykvist. Celebrity was the last of four films shot by Nykvist for Allen. It also marks the end of Allen's long collaboration with editor Susan E. Morse, who had edited the previous twenty of Allen's films beginning with Manhattan (1979).

Plot
Is there room for principle in Los Angeles? Mike Terry teaches jujitsu and barely makes ends meet. His Brazilian wife, whose family promotes fights, wants to see Mike in the ring making money, but to him competition is degrading. In return, the actor befriends Mike, gives him a gift, offers him work on his newest film, and introduces Mike's wife to his own - the women initiate business dealings. Then, things go sour all at once, Mike's debts mount, and going into the ring may be his only option.

There's always a way out. You just have to find it.
[first lines]::Mike Terry: Tie him up.::[to class]::Mike Terry: The hands are not the issue. The fight is the issue. The battle is the issue. Who imposes the terms of the battle will impose the terms of the peace. Think he has a handicap? No. The other guy has a handicap if he cannot control himself. You control yourself, you control him.::[to student]::Mike Terry: Take him to court.
Mike Terry: [while watching students fight] Take him to Brazil!
Mike Terry: Control your emotions.
Richie: Hey, who do you like in the Morisaki fight?::Mike Terry: I'm sure one of them's gonna win.::Richie: Little word from the little bird?::Mike Terry: Yeah, I don't play that.::Richie: Well if you did who would you like?::Mike Terry: I can't help you, Richie.::Richie: You sure? Because you help me, I'm gonna help you. As a word to the wise, this fight is sufficient to put some grocery money in your pocket. Who does it hurt, Mike?::Mike Terry: I can't help you, Richie. You know as much as me.::Richie: [walking away] I know as much as you.
[repeated line]::Mike Terry: There's always an escape.
Mike Terry: A man distracted is a man defeated.
Mike Terry: There is no situation you could not escape from. You know the escape.
Mike Terry: Improve the position!
Chet Frank: So what is Jiu-Jitsu? You use one fighter's strength against him?::Mike Terry: Yes, in a way. You let him use his strength, and you use your understanding.::Chet Frank: So it's a form of wrestling?::Mike Terry: Yeah.::Chet Frank: Like we see in the Mixed-Martial Arts competitions?::Mike Terry: Yeah, that's right.::Chet Frank: You compete?::Mike Terry: No.::Chet Frank: Because...?::Mike Terry: Competition is weakening.::Chet Frank: Because it's fixed. Two guys in a ring, people betting money...::Mike Terry: It may be fixed. Any one fight may be fixed.::Chet Frank: Ah, but you train people to fight.::Mike Terry: No, I train people to prevail. In the street, in the alley, in...in combat, the bodyguard, the cop, the soldiers. One rule - put the other guy down. And you have to train in order to do that. Any...any staged contest must have rules.::Chet Frank: Everything has rules. The problem is sticking to them.
Sondra Terry: You think it was noble? The code of the warrior. You think it's noble?::Mike Terry: No, I think it's correct.

Plot
Emily Jackson lives a fast-paced life. Always on the go, able to talk around the clock, with a sensitive soul she loves playing matchmaker for her friends. It's Emily's gay roommate and frequent companion Peter, who becomes again the subject matchmaking skills when handsome new photographer assistant Paolo arrives at the Vogue offices, where Emily works. She makes it her mission to bring the two men together. Unfortunately for her, she is so busy arranging a love connection between Peter and Paolo that she remains completely blind to the one suitor who longs to provide her with the loving companionship that she so cheerfully arranges for others. And so it does make sense that Peter, a screenwriter in the making, starts telling the story from his own point of view.

Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: So stop living your life like you're in some kind of a movie.::Peter Simon: Excuse me?::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Stop trying to cast your true love instead of just meeting him.::Peter Simon: When I meet him, I'll know.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: I'm not so sure. Love isn't always a lightning bolt, you know? Maybe sometimes it's just a choice.::Peter Simon: Well, that's easy for you to say! You're flying to Argentina to meet the love of your life!::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: That's just it. I don't know that Paolo's the love of my life, but I've decided to give him the chance to be. Maybe true love is a decision. You know, a decision to take a chance with somebody, to give to somebody without worrying whether they'll give anything back, or if they're gonna hurt you, or if they really are the one. Maybe love isn't something that happens to you. Maybe it's something you have to choose.::Peter Simon: So what do I do?::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Well, you could start by putting all of those fantasies of true love where they belong, into your work of fiction.
Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: ...We can't have you all alone in London on a Friday night.::Paolo Sarmiento: You make me sound like an exchange student.
Peter Simon: Jack's?::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Hmm?::Peter Simon: What are you doing?::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Reading this delicious recipe for beet root salad with margarine and balsamic vinegar dressing.::Peter Simon: What are you doing with James?::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Nothing.::Peter Simon: You broke up with him a month ago.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: I know. It's just sex. He fills a void. Literally.::Peter Simon: I don't see how you expect to meet someone new if you spend all of your time with your ex.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Good point. Maybe I should get back together with James so I spend less time with him.::Peter Simon: I don't think it's funny.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Neither do I.::Peter Simon: What's the point of shagging someone, ad nauseam, if you know you're never gonna love them?::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: It's not so simple.::Peter Simon: He's in love with you, Jacks, and you're not in love with him. It doesn't get more simpler than that.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: That's not fair. I happen to care about James. A lot. And I hate the fact that he feels more than me, and I hate the fact that I'm not IN love with him because I know I should be, because he's smart and sweet and decent and I don't wanna hurt him. So I keep hoping that I'll grow into it. That maybe one day I'll wake up and I'll feel...::Peter Simon: What?::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: In love! You know, dizzy and feverish and nausea.::Peter Simon: That's not love, Jacks. That's the flu.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Well at least I'm trying, you big cynic.::Peter Simon: I'm not a cynic.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: Well, when's the last time you even considered falling in love?::Peter Simon: Today!::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: I'm not talking about some character in a novel or a movie.::Peter Simon: Neither am I.
Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: An early departure? What are the chances of that? If this was a movie, there wouldn't be an early departure.::Peter Simon: If this was a movie, you'd be blonde.::Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: If this was a movie, you'd be famous.::Peter Simon: That's the problem with life. It's nothing like movies.
Therapist: Relationships are best measured by farting.::Peter Simon: Excuse me?::Therapist: The stages of a relationship can be defined by farting. Stage one is the conspiracy of silence. This is a fantasy period where both parties pretend that they have no bodily waste. This illusion is very quickly shattered by that first shy, "Ooh, did you fart," followed by the sheepish admission of truth. This heralds a period of deeper intimacy. A period I like to call the "Fart Honeymoon", where both parties find each other's gas just the cutest thing in the world. But, of course, no honeymoon can last forever. And so we reach the critical fork in the fart. Either the fart loses its power to amuse and embarrass thereby signifying true love, or else it begins to annoy and disgust, thereby symbolizing all that is blocked and rancid in the formerly beloved. Do you see what I'm getting at?
Talullah Riggs-Wentworth: So what's going on?::Peter Simon: Finlay thinks I should see his therapist.::Talullah Riggs-Wentworth: Finlay sees a therapist?::Peter Simon: Yeah. Some woman he says is really good with relationships.::Talullah Riggs-Wentworth: Maybe I should see her. I think I need to get in touch with my inner child.::Peter Simon: Talullah, if you get in touch with your inner child, you're going to need an inner nanny.::Talullah Riggs-Wentworth: I don't trust nannies. They're all whores.::Peter Simon: What about Mary Poppins?::Talullah Riggs-Wentworth: Slut.::Peter Simon: What are you talking abut?::Talullah Riggs-Wentworth: She left the convent, married Christopher Plummer, and then took all his children up the Alps.::Peter Simon: Speaking of 'The Sound of Music', where's Jacks?
Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: I don't want to be one of those awful characters out of a movie that gushes out their past while violins play.
Felicity Riggs-Wentworth: Tallulah! What's wrong with you?::Talullah Riggs-Wentworth: Genetics!

If I wasn't a celebrity
Would you be so nice to me?
If I couldn't have cheese like everyday
Would you still wanna be with me?
If I couldn't buy you diamond rings
And all those other expensive things
Would you be so into me?
If I wasn't a celebrity

It's making me wonder
'Bout the things that

Would you still wanna be with me?
If I couldn't buy you diamond rings
And all those other expensive things
Would you be so into me?
If I wasn't a celebrity
If you really loved me
You'd try and show me
That it ain't even about my name
But you tried to use me
And lied to fool me
So it can never be the same
So now, I'm, leaving you behind
I've found somebody
Who can love me for me
And that's all I need, yeah, oh

I hide my plans to build the planes,
the traffic's scarce so I'll go out and brave it.
I'll walk into my hallway, the living room and out the door I'll save it
and I'll make it.
It's not that far and it won't be long,
until the day's not wasted anymore.
But motivation lacks temptation
and soon that void will disappear.
I waste my life at 3 am,
that's the only time when I'm awake.
The television is my best friend,
and the living knows that it will break,
it's just fate.
It's not that far and it won't be long,

the friends I used to have I know just fake it.

where everything will be just like I made it,
so I'll take it.

Get down with a celebrity,
Celeb-Celebrity,
Get down with a celebrity,
She's mine, this time.
With her own onterage,
I never thought that she could be mine,
like every time.
With every word she spoke, i had to confess
that i could be sold on every line.
And she said tell me the place,
and we'll go wherever you want,
Just say my name, and that VIP will be ours,
Just tell me the truth, what you wanna do with
me, me, me!
Woah, lets keep it on the low,
'Cause i don't think you're ready,
Lets just keep it on the low,
And dance like there's nobody watching,
Keep it on the low,
I think the time has come to get down, down, down,
With a celebrity!

Get down with a celebrity,

Get down with a celebrity,
She's mine, this time.
I can't believe my eyes,
This girl has got me hooked in this time,
It's no surprise.
The paparazzi keep following, following,
I can't control what my heart desires!
And she said tell me the place,

Just say my name, and that VIP will be ours,
Just tell me the truth, what you wanna do with

'Cause then they talk about it,
Like the people who they know,
'Cause they see her in the magazines but when she's
right in front of me,
I can't let go, won't let go,
noooo!
Woah, lets keep it on the low,

That you can’t be a gangster every day.
And everybody knows that Michael Jackson knows,
That you can’t go touching no 12 year olds.
So you wanted to be,

Come here and take your picture,
You won’t know what will hit ya,
When you’re trying to be,

You better stop before you cover,
Or you’ll end up just like Peter Andre
Now remember the time when Owen Hart died,
He fell a thousand stories and it took his life,
And money was the cause of talking Demi Moore,
Into taking of her clothes when she hadn’t before
So you wanted to be,

Come here and take your picture,
You won’t know what will hit ya,
When you’re trying to be,
In woman’s weekly,
You better stop before you cover,

We'll hurl my biography
into this whirling pool
see which way the blue ink runs
on an ocean of lenses
I'm drifting like a fool
smouldering focus of those instant suns
And all of these

I'll be back long before you know it
to dazzle you again

fluorescent butterscotch
There's a shimmering lake of real lives
it's a backdrop
it's an afterthought

and will there be shadows at the airport?

and you can carry yourself.

dream.
but would you stand out if you were up here with me?
i'll come on down.
Someday I'm gonna be famous, do I have talent, well no
These days you don't really need it thanks to reality shows
Can't wait to date a supermodel, can't wait to sue my dad
Can't wait to wreck a Ferrari on my way to rehab
'Cause when you're a celebrity
It's adios reality
You can act just like a fool
People think you're cool
Just 'cause you're on TV
I can throw a major fit
When my latte isn't just how I like it
When they say I've gone insane
I'll blame it on the fame
And the pressures that go with
Being a celebrity
I'll get to cry to Barbara Walters when things don't go my way
And I'll get community service no matter which law I break
I'll make the supermarket tabloids, they'll write some awful stuff
But the more they run my name down the more my price goes up
'Cause when you're a celebrity
It's adios reality
No matter what you do
People think you're cool
Just 'cause you're on TV
I can fall in and out of love
Have marriages that barely last a month
When they go down the drain
I'll blame it on the fame
And say it's just so tough
Being a celebrity
So let's hitch up the wagons and head out west
To the land of the fun and the sun
We'll be real world bachelor jackass millionaires
Hey hey, Hollywood, here we come
'Cause when you're a celebrity
It's adios reality
No matter what you do
People think you're cool
Just 'cause you're on TV
Being a celebrity
She doesn't care about the silver screen
She doesn't care about the music business
She doesn't care about the arty Scene
cos all she knows is she wants to be famous!
she want's to ride in a chauffeured car
her photograph in the morning papers
cos in this world it's who you are
and all she knows is she want's so be famous!
She want's to be a celebrity with her face in a magazine
She doesn't care how you get her there
she just doesn't want to be alone anymore...
She doesn't care about the TV Shows
unless of course it's about Eastenders
and Hollywood is where she wants to go
where she can bitch about the new pretenders
and everywhere there'll be screaming fans
scrambling just to get her picture
and then the world is in her hands
bigger than the queen and so much richer
She want's to be a celebrity with her face in a magazine
She doesn't care how you get her there
she just doesn't want to be alone
she'd like to be the party qeen who is etched in your memory
she doesn't care if you stop and stare
she just doesn't want to be alone anymore...
She's got a dream and she'll never stop
until she's there sitting at the top
she doesn't care what she has to do
even if she has to step over you
and in the club with her famous friends
oh how the highs will never end
until the day when she hit's the floor
when no one knows her anymore
She want's to be a celebrity with her face in a magazine
She doesn't care how you get her there
she just doesn't want to be alone
she'd like to be the party qeen who is etched in your memory
she doesn't care if you stop and stare

Evel Knievel, I do stunts
Why so evil? Call the priest
So pray for me, I'm in the streets
I got different nationalities
And they all got similarities
Baby, I love your personality
And I'mma thank you, the celebrity
I got different nationalities
Got a lot of similarities
I love a bitch with personality
I'm tryna make your nigga mad at me
I got different nationalities
And they all got similarities
Baby, I love your personality
And I'mma thank you, the celebrity
I got different nationalities
Got a lot of similarities
I love a bitch with personality
I'm tryna make your nigga mad at me
Spreading peace and love
In the minefields of Angola
A photo opportunity
Celebrity has sold ya
They made front page news again
But they all hate the Paparazzi lens
Hollywood cocaine
A royal fascination
Cinematic lives
Far too much temptation
10% reduction to the charitable cause
Designers help stop third world wars
Verci always win
Benetton don't kill
Gap never sins
And we all get to pay the bill
United Nations all
Waiting for that presidential call
The next one in
Watch that jaded popstar grin
Wear another name
Promote another label
Donate another dollar
From the budget on yer table
Explosive occupations for
The heroes faking for their cause
That's all, i'm out. i'm used and dated now, and you won't see me in this town. i won't be, won't sing their message for them now. and you won't see me in this town. remember us and who we were. remember us when we're tired. that's all, i'm through. i'm headed someplace new, and you won't see me in this town. i could be, could sing just how they want me to, but you won't see me in this town. remember us and who we were. remember us when we're tired.
It's a cold one outside. have you noticed? have you noticed? i did my best. it's a gift from god. it's your money. think it's funny? well I can't be. i'm tiring out from your out and out so sit down. it's a cold one outside. can you take it? better fake it 'cause i didn't make it. a son to a father. is this what you want? come back to my mother for us. don't take this new heartbeat for granted anymore. there's a song in your mind that can turn around anyone. so, time to go. are you ready? yes, i think so. there's a song in your mind that can turn around everyone. a son to a father. is this what you want? come back to my mother for us.
This one is for the young and the old. this one is for you all to have as your own. downtown's another year older. and where have the kennedy's gone to now? this one is for you all, and you let it go. i'm ready to cave, but i'm willing to live. i wanna look over what is not and what is. and i'll lift you up before i give in. i need to feel closer now than i've ever been. this one comes from below and above. and it's given to us all, but i've seen enough.
[Lloyd Banks]
I just touched down, Ferrari to concrete
I ain't even home and they're talking about me
f-ck out my ear if you talking 'bout freedom n-gger
Free don't pay the bills Im ballin' all out, b!
You rappers don't know me
Nah I ain't your homie
If your name aint Em, Ferrari or Tony
I like my wheel chromey
My Bentley my Rolly
My Magnum my forty
South Jamaica shawty
these losses I took in the gut yo
the work's still here, I'm just cooking it up slow
Clear my mind, you whippin' the truck load
my Pop dead, but he live through his son though
if rap aint work, I'll be pimpin' on some hoe
Still eating lobster and shrimp in the Bungalow
I'm back like crack over the drumroll
You know, wherever I go the gun go
[Akon - Chorus]
We on the grind (hey) all the time (hey)
ain't bout to let a n-gga come and snatch mine
I keep a nine, you see the shine
I might just let your ass slide this time
While I get this paper, paper
While I get this paper, paper
Cause I'm a celebrity
(I don't need none of y'all)
Ghetto celebrity
(Keep your punk-ass awards)
I'm a celebrity
(Take your fake smile off)
Ghetto celebrity
aint nothing changed n-gger
[Lloyd Banks - Verse 2]
The media will test ya, popularity is pressure
Porche Panamera
platinum hammer through the metal
wreck the booth up, I'm too tough
that inner city grammer
step your jewels up, they bruised up
I'll sparkle for the camera
harsh reality's what (?) holding them back from opening
verbal attack all over these n-ggas, push the herd to the back
I'm the kind that they pray on, spending half of their day on
lay on, n-ggas for days, just shots spray on
my sound system knock and in pound Tupac
6-4 jumping like the ground too hot
they spot me, they chase a n-gga down two blocks
two shots in the air for n-ggas that aint here
two tone, two door, grey top, roof floor
green guap galore, in and out of new hall
that bright light you saw, was a paparazzi flash
I'm tryna snap a picture through your Maserati glass
[Chorus]
[Eminem]
...there are enough insults in my head
to fill up a swear jar
and have it overflowing so dont get me going, don't dare start
you'll never see me again, Amelia Earhart
I'm poppin' a wheelie off to a really unfair start
I'm past grinding for me, guess I just be grounded up
like ground round or a pound of chuck
tightly wound as f-ck
till the fire marshalls come shut
Fire marshall ground 'em up
I guess you should just shut the f-ck up
and stop f-cking around and duck
I aint playing this time, I told you I'm not down for blunts
to say I keep it 100 would probably sound redundant
like calling a bitch a hoe, or asking a gal to suck
and blowing your d-ck cock
is she up to scew and down to f-ck
it's a man's World and I'm trapped in a land of smut
with a thousand sluts wrapped with muzzles
running through a house of muts
otherwords I'm shutting up everyone one of you bitches mouth's up
and I'm watching my language if I tell you to kiss my f-cking butt
and aint sh-t changed, my sh-t still dont stink player
my farts may have become staler ever since I became a trailer park celebrity
maybe my complexion became a little paler
poster job for white trash, I'm a garbage pale kid sailor
yeah, see me up all in your b-tch means I'ma rape her,
all I got for these hoes is d-ck duck tape and a stapler so b-tch you better look for table scraps to scrape her
Don't call me a zero
I'm gonna be a hero
Like Phil Esposito or the Kennedys
I'll be incorporated
And I'll be imitated
And overrated, but that doesn't bother me
All the jaws will drop
And all the girls will scream
And there will be commotion when I show up on the scene
All that you will see is a celebrity
When I'm riding in my limo
I won't look out the window
Might make me homesick for humanity
There's nowhere that I can't go
And there's nobody I don't know
And there's an emptiness that's eating me
All the clocks will stop
And all the jeans will cream
It has always been my one and only dream
All that's left of me is my celebrity
Leave your heart
Lay down your art
You're here for the party
Smile and wave
Try to behave
Be happy that they've made you a celebrity
I could disappear into the great unknown
And it would wear my face as if it were its own
And all that you will see is a celebrity
All that's left of me is my celebrity
I will get in first and I will get in free
I fell in love with a celebrity,
With all the fame you never noticed me.
Your such a movie star,
I think about you nightly,
And you ain't had a chance to meet a guy who might be like me,
Right now I'm 25,
You in your lower 20's,
I want to see you walk around in your bra panties,
I must admit,
It made me upset,
In Dead Man's Chest you was kissing Johnny Depp,
Knowing that it should be me,
You should be kissing me,
You made me mad now you owe me an apology,
I forgive you this time and this time only,
Next time it's over,
So what if I get lonely,
I'm down for you,
I beat up any reporter,
Who be saying that you got an eating disorder,
Where's that Vanity Fair magazine with you posing naked,
Straight to the bathroom is the place that I take it,
We're heaven-made together,
Forever you and I,
If you ever leave me,
I commit suicide.
I fell in love with a celebrity,
With all the fame you never noticed me.
I fell in love with a celebrity,
With all the fame you never noticed me.
Mirror mirror on the wall,
Tell me who is more fairer,
Than my dearest Keira,
Come on tell me mirror mirror,
Hands down,
The fliest European,
You looking right in the Pirate's of the Carribean,
Let's get it on Miss Elizabeth's one,
Tonight I'm gonna make you a brand new mom,
One night I was bored,
So I played with my sword,
While I watched you on the MTV Movie Awards,
I hear you don't date Americans,
Because you think we too arrogant,
And to your family,
That might be an embarrassment,
So would you love me if I talked with an English accent,
And was not concerned with the latest fashion,
I wrote you a rap song because you important,
Plus I think you look better than Natalie Portman,
Do you understand how much I want to give you my lovin',
So much that I just bought a ticket to London.
I fell in love with a celebrity,
With all the fame you never noticed me.
I fell in love with a celebrity,
Verse One
You used to call me twenty times a day
But lately you seem distant, pushing me away
I need to know if I'm still your number one
Or does your fleeting fame mean me and you are done?
Pre Chorus
In every movie I've seen
On every tv show
I watch you through a screen
Baby now I need to know
Chorus
Celebrity, are you too good for me?
Is that what you've been thinking lately?
Celebrity, too good to be true
What do you wanna do?
Tell me baby
Verse Two
I wish I knew that the problem would worsen
I wish I knew when I'd see you in person
I need to know if I'm now your number two
Cause baby in that case I'll find someone new
Pre Chorus
In every movie I've seen
On every tv show
I watch you through a screen
Baby now I need to know
Chorus
Celebrity, are you too good for me?
Is that what you've been thinking lately?
Celebrity, too good to be true
What do you wanna do?
Tell me baby
Bridge
Do you think you're too good for me?
Is that why you're ignoring me?
Do you need more room to grow?
Baby let me know, oh
Do you think that I'll wait for you?
Do you think that that's what I'll do?
Need to know so don't pretend
Are we at an end baby?
Chorus
Celebrity, are you too good for me?
Is that what you've been thinking lately?
Celebrity, too good to be true
What do you wanna do?
Tell me baby
Chorus
Celebrity, are you too good for me?
Is that what you've been thinking lately?
Celebrity, too good to be true
What do you wanna do?
Washed up, strung out
Living in a black out
World spinning out of control
Face down, messed up
Never gonna be enough
Just another part of the show
You finally fall away
The lights are fading
You wear it on your face
The cracks are breaking
Where's your celebrity now
Cause we're so lost without you
Where's your celebrity now
So out of control
A million lights can change a life
Or how far you'd go
Careful what you wish for
You just might get it
Bright light, burn out
Villains with a hand out
Selling every inch of your soul
Fake life, fake town
Tired of the let down
The chemicals are starting to show
The lines they fall away
The fall is never ending
You wear it on your face
The cracks are breaking
You used to make this for me
I'm a big celebrity
And I don't know what you've been told
But I think you should be more like me
So I'm gonna tell you what I know
See, you're just an average woman or man
And you shouldn't try to think for yourself
There's things that you can't understand
And I'll bet you could use my help
I'm on TV and radio
And unless I'm mistaken, you're not
So I've found almost every place I go
There's people just waiting to hear my thoughts
They say I'm a genius, they're right
So take my opinions seriously
I'll tell you how to live your life
Cause I'm a big celebrity
[Chorus:]
I'm a big celebrity
And I don't know what you've been told
But I think you should be more like me
So I'm gonna tell you what I know
I'm a big celebrity
And you've got such a long way to go
If you're gonna be more like me
So I'll tell you what you don't know
Hey big celebrity, please keep your politics
Your beliefs and your philosophies, all of it
Some advice if you wanna stay famous
Don't try to change us, just entertain us
You're a tabloid headline, a photo op
And now you want the same attention John and Yoko got
And when your album or your movie is a total flop
You'll be redundant like Bobby Brown or Robocop
So please stop and let me off your guilt trip
I know you made a lot of money and you've milked it
But you're not as smart as you think you are
So shut your mouth mr. movie star
Chorus:
I am in love with the lies, the love, the rise, the wrongs,
They told me that it wouldn't be night for long!
The lights, the love, the rise, the loss
They told me that it wouldn't be night for long!
And I'm in love with the lights, the love,
Celebrity house, Hollywood parties that never get old!

They told me that it wouldn't be night for long!
The lights, the love, the rise, the loss
They told me that it wouldn't be night for long!

Anything in life for love and meaning,
I hope they never try to tell me I'm leaving,
Getting everything I want, then I've got my mom next,
And the resign checks right after the contract.
My boys have a crazy flow...
I guess cause I was active on a radio.
Way back in high school, yeah nigger same team,
Way before...
We just contract needs!
It's funny now when I look back,
Should we follow our own advice? should we do what we're told all the time? there are answers a man should know. for the ones i don't have, i only wish i could stand there like you do. chin up, hands to the side of you. wear it while you can. get up and take it like a man. it's an average place to be. it's the one i have made up for me. there are things that I cannot know. when i'm feeling this bad, i only wish i could stand there like you do. chin up, hands to the side of you. wear it while you can. get up and take it like a man.
Circulate. this thing is taking shape. well come on and come back. we weren't expecting that. complicate. you've got a mess to make. well come on, it's the truth. we weren't expecting you. you can be a bore. you can be a blistering sore. no one here will notice you, 'cause no one loves you more than you do. regulate. you were the one mistake. well come on and get mad. we were the best you had. you can be a bore. you can be a blistering sore. no one here will notice you, 'cause no one loves you more than you do.
Alright. it's alright. pull me from the bright lights, and it's alright. we are dead superstars, now you know who we are. decomposing underground, are you listening now? is it true, when we die we get more of your time? on your t.v. on the air. we can be everywhere. go on. well, go on. take me to the white light. well, go on. we are dead superstars, now you know who we are. decomposing underground, are you listening now? is it true, when we die we get more of your time? on your t.v. on the air. we can be everywhere.
You swing like a girl, but you could always bring me down. you'd swallow the world if you could shove us in your mouth. say what you will if it makes you alright. take what you need if you need to. i'll try and give what you want when you want me to. would you do that for me? well maybe there was something in the air that made me wanna stop and break the stare. maybe it was easy, but so were you. you're disconnected too. i'd do that for you, but it's a welcome you've worn out. i followed your rules and they will all be broken now. say what you will if it makes you alright. take what you need if you need to. i'll try and give what you want when you want me to. would you do that for me? well maybe there was something in the air that made me wanna stop and break the stare. maybe it was easy, but so were you. you're disconnected too. say what you will if it makes you alright. take what you need if you need to. i'll try and beg your forgiveness for leaving you. could you do that for me? well maybe there was something in the air that made me wanna stop and break the stare. maybe it was easy, but so were you. i'm disconnected from you.
I wanna be your man'cause I'm lovesick
I'm lovesick oh no oh no
And I'm lovestruck
I'm lovestruck o yeah o yeah
So take a chance on me
So take a chance on me oh oh
You know it's been so near
You know it's been so near
But oh so long
But oh so long
Oh so long
I wanna be your man
I've got a crush on you
Oh my oh my
Oh yes oh no oh no
It takes two, it takes two
To tango to tango
And I'm only 18 only 18I'm moving on 19Moving on 19And I'm lovesick, I'm lovesick
Oh no oh no
So take a chance on me
Yeah take a chance on me

Oh yeah so take a chance on me
Yeah take a chance on me
Oh oh
You know it's been so near
You know it's been so near
But oh so long
But oh so long
But oh so long
Don't make me sad
Don't make me sad
Oh please please please
I can't leave my house can't go for a walk
I can't go to the store can't take it no more
My life is a movie for everyone to see
there's always somebody taking pictures of me
I can't protect myself I need a bodyguard
I never knew life could be this hard
Hiding round the corner just a waitin for me
I'm another victim of the Paparazzi
Is it obsession boredom or envy
They wanna exploit my life
Cause I'm a celebrity
They wanna tell the whole world lies about me
They wanna ruin my life
Cause I'm a celebrity
I'm an eccentric who made it this far
And now there's no turning back cause now I'm a star
Forget what it's like to live a normal life
My mind is all demented from this strife
The money is good and the drugs come free
I'll always have more drugs than I'll ever need.
Being on TV is no longer a game
Its nothing new to me I'm use to the fame
There's no other career left for me
Now I'm stuck with this name cause I'm a celebrity
Someday they'll make a show about me
They'll all laugh at me because I'm a celebrity
Will they remember me well I'm not sure
There'll be a time when I'm obscure
Living this lifestyle has been fun
But I'll be a washup when retirement comes
One mistake and you'll hear my name
you'll see my face all over the front page
Will I do jailtime well probably not
My get out of jail card it can be bought
Obsession boredom or envy
They wanna exploit my life
Cause I'm a celebrity
there's always lawsuits going against me
I'm always in trouble
Cause I'm a celebrity
Ooh Oh Yeah
Oh I'm a freak in a world full of freaks
Oh I'm a freak
Oh I'm a freak in a world full of freaks
Oh I'm a freak
Ooh Yeah
