Liverpool 1 (TV series)

Liverpool 1 is a British television drama series centred on the work of a fictional Merseyside Police vice squad. Produced by Lime Street Productions for ITV, it starred Samantha Janus and Mark Womack and ran for two series in 1998 and 1999. The series represented an early vehicle for Janus' move into mainstream drama roles, following her success in the situation comedy Game On. Despite excellent viewing figures (which never dropped below 6.88m), ITV chose not to re-commission the series and thus it was axed after series two. Repeats are intermittently shown on ITV3.

Plot

Liverpool 1 focused on Detective Constable Isobel De Pauli (Samantha Janus), a successful Metropolitan Police detective. Her partner's career move to Liverpool in turn sees De Pauli transferred there. Upon arrival she is partnered with introverted DC Mark Callaghan (Mark Womack), a no-nonsense officer brought up on the streets of the city he now polices; the opening sequence of the first episode culminates in Callaghan throwing a suspect from an apartment window. The earlier episodes centre on the dual themes of the personality clash between De Pauli and Callaghan, coupled with the ongoing saga of the squad's pursuit of local gangster John Sullivan (Paul Usher). Callaghan's relationship with Sullivan - who is his cousin - and the interconnectedness of the city, are themes throughout the series.

Liverpool

Liverpool (/ˈlɪvərpuːl/) is a city in Merseyside, England. A borough from 1207 and a city from 1880, in 2014 the city local government district had a population of 470,537 and the Liverpool/Birkenhead metropolitan area had a population of 2,241,000.

Liverpool is in the south west of the historic county of Lancashire in North West England, on the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. The town historically lay within the ancient Lancashire division of West Derby known as a "hundred".

The urbanisation and expansion of the city were largely brought about by its advantageous location during the industrial revolution status that led to its growth as a major port, which included its participation in the Atlantic slave trade. Liverpool was the port of registry of the ocean liner RMS Titanic, and many other Cunard and White Star ocean liners such as the RMS Lusitania, Queen Mary, and Olympic. Liverpool's status as a port city has contributed to its diverse population, which, historically, was drawn from a wide range of peoples, cultures, and religions, particularly those from Ireland. The city is also home to the oldest Black African community in the country and the oldest Chinese community in Europe.

Liverpool (video game)

Liverpool (also known as Liverpool: The Computer Game) is a football video game released in 1990 for the Amstrad CPC. In 1992 versions were released for the Atari ST, Commodore Amiga and DOS platforms and a Commodore 64 version was released in 1993. The game was developed by Arc Developments and published by GrandSlam Entertainment. Liverpool is based on the Liverpool F.C. football team. One or two players can play Liverpool. A ZX Spectrum version was advertised, but never actually released.

Gameplay

Liverpool is a football video game that allows the player to take control of Liverpool F.C. and play against other teams in the English football leagues and FA Cup. The game allows the player choose the formation and pick the team from real players in the Liverpool squad. Before practice games, the player can also set the pitch type and duration. The in-game gamplay consists of running with and without the ball, trapping the ball, throw ins, corner kicks and goal kicks. Liverpool also includes injuries and punishments from receiving red or yellow cards. The player can use a joystick or keyboard to control the game

Liverpool (El Puerto de Liverpool S.A.B. de C.V.) is mid-to-high end retailer and the largest chain of department stores in Mexico, operating 17 shopping malls including Perisur and Galerías Monterrey. Its 85 department stores, which comprises 73 stores under the Liverpool name, 22 stores under the Fábricas de Francia name, 6 Duty Free stores, and 27 specialized boutiques.

Its headquarters are in Santa Fe and in Cuajimalpa.

History

Liverpool, first called The Cloth Case, was founded in 1847 by Jean Baptiste Ebrard, a Frenchman who first started selling clothes in cases in Mexico City's downtown. In 1872, he started importing merchandise from Europe. Much of the merchandise was shipped via Liverpool, England, prompting Ebrard to adopt the name Liverpool for his store, in 1862 he opened its second store and since then it has not stopped growing.

Liverpool Interlomas Store

In 2011, Liverpool opened a high-profile store in the Interlomas neighborhood of Greater Mexico City. The structure was designed by Rojkind Arquitectos. This three-story structure is clad in a double-layered stainless steel surface fabricated by Zahner. The 30,000m2 department store includes a rooftop recreational park where friends, families, and pets are welcome. Several design firms were involved in various aspects of the project. The interiors were done by FRCH, the rooftop garden by Thomas Balsley and the gourmet space by JHP Design.
