CHAN HEADS JAPAN CHARITY FUNDRAISER Jackie Chan and his fellow Hong Kong celebrities were set to stage a three-hour charity concert on April 1 to raise funds for victims of Japan s massive earthquake and tsunami. The veteran action star and dozens of singers and actors were in a Hong Kong studio late on Thursday to rehearse and record the theme song for the concert Succumb Not to Sorrow. The song based on an inspirational Japanese poem will be recorded in both Japanese and Chinese lyrics. Addressing the Japanese victims Chan said You will not be alone. We will all be by your side. Others attending Thursday s recording session included singers Alan Tam Hacken Lee Shirley Kwan and Chinese-American rapper Jin. TV stars Bosco Wong Myloie Wu and Michael Tse also took part. Proceeds from the concert at Hong Kong s Victoria Park will go to the Salvation Army. Japan s police agency says more than 9800 people are dead after the recent earthquake and tsunami and another 17500 are missing. Those tallies may overlap but a police spokesman from one of the hardest-hit prefectures Miyagi estimates that the deaths will top 15-thousand in that region alone. Police in other devastated areas declined to estimate eventual tolls but said the confirmed deaths in their areas already number about 4100.

Grace Chan - Known for his ruthless comments about pageant beauties, Eric Tsang (曾志偉) recently shared this thoughts on this year’s Miss Hong Kong winners, saying Grace Chan (陳凱琳) is at a disadvantage due to her skinny frame. On September 3, Eric attended an event at a senior service center on behalf of the Hong Kong Movie Star Sports Association Charities. As the organization’s chairman, Eric was present to kick start a resource redistribution plan which will receive donations of household appliances and gift them to low-income families and elders in need. As one of the celebrity voters for this year’s Miss Hong Kong pageant, Eric was asked to comment on winner Grace Chan, whose petite body inspired local media to nickname her “Flat-chested Miss Hong Kong”. Eric agrees that Grace’s physique could have cost her the crown. “Even though [Grace] is very photogenic, if we were to use traditional judging standards, Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) and Moon Lau (劉佩玥) had a better chance of winning. However, since it was decided by popular vote this year, there is no opposition regarding the results.” During a TVB news interview after her win, Grace spoke candidly about her views regarding Hong Kong’s Chief Executive elections, showing her support for a more democratic voting process. As this is a controversial topic, Grace’s comments were eventually cut before the segment aired. In this film you will see some great action, and a little bit of humour. There are numerous fight scenes, and they all good. You will see the good guys beat the crap out of small time punks, Malaysian bushman punks, gorillas, weird rifleman punks with strange masks, a mistress, and the main boss. You will see the bad guys beat the crap out of old people with sticks, strike a woman in the face with a horsewhip repeatedly, and other stuff along those lines.
