Twenty-one steps south. Face east 21 seconds. Face north 21 seconds. Twenty-one steps north. Face east 21 seconds. Face south 21 seconds. Repeat until relieved. Thus is the meticulous routine performed by the select few chosen for the honor of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located in Arlington National Cemetery, just outside of Washington, D.C. These Tomb Guard Sentinels, elite volunteer members of the U.S. Army's 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, watch the Tomb 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, rain or shine -- and have done so for almost 80 years. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was constructed in 1921, after Congress approved the burial of an unidentified U.S. soldier from World War I, with other Unknowns interred since. The Tomb has been guarded year-round continuously since 1937, when the first 24-hour guards were posted. Since April 1948, sentinels from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, also known as the "Old Guard," have been watching over the hallowed memorial. The above video shows a complete changing of the guard ceremony edited together from three different ceremonies all recorded on May 20, 2015. 21 de Mayo de 2015, CABA: La presidenta Cristina Fernández de Kirchner inauguró hoy el “Centro Cultural Kirchner” en el antiguo Palacio del Correo, que ya quedó abierto al público y, afirmó, se constituye en el “más grande de Latinoamérica”. “En tiempo récord, en seis años, hemos refuncionalizado el Palacio del Correo”, destacó, para recordar que la obra hoy inaugurada fue “un sueño” del ex presidente Néstor Kirchner. "Gracias a que hemos podido construir sólidos cimientos económicos en este país, tenemos sólidos cimientos en la cultura como este Centro Cultural Kirchner", afirmó Cristina al cerrar su discurso por la cadena nacional. “La cultura ha seguido el crecimiento económico y se ha manifestado en el crecimiento geométrico de la producción de contenidos", afirmó la primera mandataria al enumerar las obras culturales realizadas y destacar que desde el 2003 a la fecha “se invirtieron más de $ 24.000 millones en la cultura”. La Presidenta anunció además que el próximo lunes 25 de Mayo se celebrará el tradicional Te Deum en la Basílica de Luján, cuya refacción fue la primera obra que licitó el entonces presidente Néstor Kirchner y que ahora está totalmente concluída. Estar el lunes en la Basílica de Luján será el "símbolo de lo que hemos logrado en estos doce años felices y tristes al mismo tiempo", afirmó. Cristina estuvo flanqueada durante su alocución por el ministro de Planificación, Julio De Vido y la titular de Cultura, Teresa Parodi. El edificio del antiguo Palacio de Correo, de 116.840 metros cuadrados, fue declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional desde 1997. "Hoy es un día histórico, hoy se pone en marcha el centro cultural de la inclusión", dijo y agredeció a los hombres y mujeres de la cultura que hoy nos acompañan. Esta es su casa. Su lugar. Hoy estamos poniendo en funcionamiento el centro cultural más importante de latinoamérica". La jefa de Estado calificó la obra de "increíble". "En sí misma es una obra de arte, para que tengan una idea en este momento estamos sentados sobre la ballena azul pero además sobre el techo de la sala filarmónica más importante de latinoamérica, para 2.000 espectadores".
