Yeltsin and Lukashenko last month.

The European Union is a geo-political entity covering a large portion of the European continent. It is founded upon numerous treaties and has undergone expansions that have taken it from 6 member states to 28, a majority of states in Europe.
As distinct from ideas of federation, confederation or customs union the main development in Europe depends on a supranational foundation to make war unthinkable and materially impossible and reinforce democracy enunciated by Robert Schuman and other leaders in the Europe Declaration. The principle was at the heart of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in the Treaty of Paris (1951), following the "Schuman Declaration" and the later the Treaties of Rome establishing the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC). Both the ECSC and EEC were later incorporated into the European Union while the EAEC maintains a distinct legal identity despite sharing members and institutions.

"There is a very bad case of denial in this chamber this morning, a total refusal to accept that the euro project is failing.
Greece is on the verge of a default, the bailout fund is creaking, the credibility of the European Central Bank itself is now being called into question. It's all on the verge of going belly up, and yet, when the credit rating agencies tell the truth you try and pretend it's not happening.
Indeed Mr Brok and others were suggesting it was some dastardly plot by the Americans and the British and the Anglo-Saxon markets to bring down the euro.
The rating agencies are nothing more than the canary in the mine. They are telling you the truth. And please listen to Standard and Poor when they say austerity alone will not work. You are driving these countries into depression just to save your euro project.
But I must acknowledge that you have lost absolutely nothing when it comes to your powers of deception. No, that's still very much on course. It was Nick Clegg that gave us the clue; Clegg - a man who I suspect is rather more popular here than he is back at home these days.
Clegg was asked, 'Should there be a referendum on the forthcoming treaty?' He said 'Oh No', 'there's no need for that because it's all going to be folded in to the existing treaties.' And I thought, what the Dickens is he talking about?
Well, now I've learnt. Mr Cohn-Bendit made it clear - it's to be the Community Method, it's to be legislation where you know you got a majority in this parliament and you know under qualified majority in the Council you can get everything through. And why are you doing it this way?- well it's simple isn't it? It's to avoid referendums because you know if a treaty was put to Ireland and many other countries the answer would be 'No.'
The peoples of Europe do not want this sado-monetarist package. The peoples of Europe need, particularly in the case of the South, to get out of the euro, to have a devaluation and a chance to re-establish themselves again. You are denying them that chance and by pushing the Community Method you are destroying democracy in Europe. I hope you are all very proud of yourselves."

The Treaty of Union is the name given to the agreement that led to the creation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, the political union of the Kingdom of England (including Wales) and the Kingdom of Scotland, which took effect on 1 May 1707. The details of the Treaty were agreed on 22 July 1706, and separate Acts of Union were then passed by the parliaments of England and Scotland to ratify the Treaty.
The idea of uniting the two sovereign states had been widely discussed since the Union of the Crowns in 1603, when King James VI of Scotland inherited the English throne from his double first cousin twice removed, Queen Elizabeth I. Fear of Scottish cooperation with France or in a French invasion was a constant concern in England. Three previous attempts to unite the two countries by Acts of Parliament, in 1606, 1667, and 1689 were unsuccessful, although the political and economic circumstances at the start of the 18th century were such that the political establishments, many of whom had lost large sums of money in the ill-fated Darién scheme which had failed in part due to English interference, supported the idea, despite its being deeply unpopular among the Scottish population at large.

David Vaughan Icke (pronounced /aɪk/, or IKE, born 29 April 1952) is an English writer and public speaker, best known for his views on what he calls "who and what is really controlling the world." Describing himself as the most controversial speaker in the world, he is the author of 19 books and has attracted a global following that cuts across the political spectrum. His 533-page The Biggest Secret (1999) has been called "the Rosetta Stone for conspiracy junkies."
Icke was a well-known BBC television sports presenter and spokesman for the Green Party, when in 1990 a psychic told him he was a healer who had been placed on Earth for a purpose, and that the spirit world was going to pass messages to him so he could educate others. In March 1991 he held a press conference to announce that he was a "Son of the Godhead" – a phrase he said later the media had misunderstood – and the following month told the BBC's Terry Wogan show that the world would soon be devastated by tidal waves and earthquakes. He said the show changed his life, turning him from a respected household name into someone who was laughed at whenever he appeared in public.

Barack Hussein Obama II (
i/bəˈrɑːk huːˈseɪn oʊˈbɑːmə/; born August 4, 1961) is the 44th and current President of the United States. He is the first African American to hold the office. In January 2005, Obama was sworn in as a U.S. Senator in the state of Illinois. He would hold this office until November 2008, when he resigned following his victory in the 2008 presidential election.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the president of the Harvard Law Review. He was a community organizer in Chicago before earning his law degree. He worked as a civil rights attorney in Chicago and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. He served three terms representing the 13th District in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004.
Following an unsuccessful bid against the Democratic incumbent for a seat in the United States House of Representatives in 2000, Obama ran for the United States Senate in 2004. Several events brought him to national attention during the campaign, including his victory in the March 2004 Illinois Democratic primary for the Senate election and his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He won election to the U.S. Senate in Illinois in November 2004. His presidential campaign began in February 2007, and after a close campaign in the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries against Hillary Rodham Clinton, he won his party's nomination. In the 2008 presidential election, he defeated Republican nominee John McCain, and was inaugurated as president on January 20, 2009. Nine months later, Obama was named the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In April 2011, he announced that he would be running for re-election in 2012.

The European Union is a geo-political entity covering a large portion of the European continent. It is founded upon numerous treaties and has undergone expansions that have taken it from 6 member states to 28, a majority of states in Europe.
As distinct from ideas of federation, confederation or customs union the main development in Europe depends on a supranational foundation to make war unthinkable and materially impossible and reinforce democracy enunciated by Robert Schuman and other leaders in the Europe Declaration. The principle was at the heart of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in the Treaty of Paris (1951), following the "Schuman Declaration" and the later the Treaties of Rome establishing the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC). Both the ECSC and EEC were later incorporated into the European Union while the EAEC maintains a distinct legal identity despite sharing members and institutions.

"There is a very bad case of denial in this chamber this morning, a total refusal to accept that the euro project is failing.
Greece is on the verge of a default, the bailout fund is creaking, the credibility of the European Central Bank itself is now being called into question. It's all on the verge of going belly up, and yet, when the credit rating agencies tell the truth you try and pretend it's not happening.
Indeed Mr Brok and others were suggesting it was some dastardly plot by the Americans and the British and the Anglo-Saxon markets to bring down the euro.
The rating agencies are nothing more than the canary in the mine. They are telling you the truth. And please listen to Standard and Poor when they say austerity alone will not work. You are driving these countries into depression just to save your euro project.
But I must acknowledge that you have lost absolutely nothing when it comes to your powers of deception. No, that's still very much on course. It was Nick Clegg that gave us the clue; Clegg - a man who I suspect is rather more popular here than he is back at home these days.
Clegg was asked, 'Should there be a referendum on the forthcoming treaty?' He said 'Oh No', 'there's no need for that because it's all going to be folded in to the existing treaties.' And I thought, what the Dickens is he talking about?
Well, now I've learnt. Mr Cohn-Bendit made it clear - it's to be the Community Method, it's to be legislation where you know you got a majority in this parliament and you know under qualified majority in the Council you can get everything through. And why are you doing it this way?- well it's simple isn't it? It's to avoid referendums because you know if a treaty was put to Ireland and many other countries the answer would be 'No.'
The peoples of Europe do not want this sado-monetarist package. The peoples of Europe need, particularly in the case of the South, to get out of the euro, to have a devaluation and a chance to re-establish themselves again. You are denying them that chance and by pushing the Community Method you are destroying democracy in Europe. I hope you are all very proud of yourselves."

Russian President Boris Yeltsin and Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko put their signatures on the Russia-Belarus Union Treaty on Wednesday.
The pact is mostly a symbolic union, bringing the former Soviet republics closer, but not creating a single state.
At the signing ceremony in the Kremlin, Yeltsin said the two countries were not uniting against anyone, not even the United States President, Bill Clinton.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko flew into Moscow on Wednesday morning for the signing of the Russia-Belarus Union Treaty.
At the airport he was met by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
The treaty will create much closer economic and political ties between Belarus and Russia.
Both leaders expressed their enthusiasm for the agreement.

"I would like to add that it is a question of political and economical advisability for the people of both states."

The Belarus leader then headed to the Kremlin to meet Russian President Boris Yeltsin and sign the treaty at an official ceremony.
The signing had originally been scheduled for November 26 but was postponed because of Boris Yeltsin's recent illness.
At the signing, which took place in the Kremlin's lavish St. George's Hall, Yeltsin declared that the treaty was not a pact against anyone, including the United States.

"The union between Russia and Belarus is based on the preservation of the sovereignty and independence of the participating countries. The union has not been formed against anyone, even against US President Bill Clinton."

Lukashenko expressed relief that, despite criticism, the union had gone forward.

"Many did not believe that in the wake of the economic and political ruin of the former Soviet Union, this integration could be realized. We have shown that is not just a possibility but a reality."

Lukashenko has been the treaty's main advocate since his 1994 election.
The union treaty signing comes on the eighth anniversary of the Belovezhskaya Agreement, signed in December of 1991 by the leaders of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, officially dissolving the Soviet Union.

Russian President Boris Yeltsin and Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko put their signatures on the Russia-Belarus Union Treaty on Wednesday.
The pact is mostly a symbolic union, bringing the former Soviet republics closer, but not creating a single state.
At the signing ceremony in the Kremlin, Yeltsin said the two countries were not uniting against anyone, not even the United States President, Bill Clinton.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko flew into Moscow on Wednesday morning for the signing of the Russia-Belarus Union Treaty.
At the airport he was met by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
The treaty will create much closer economic and political ties between Belarus and Russia.
Both leaders expressed their enthusiasm for the agreement.

"I would like to add that it is a question of political and economical advisability for the people of both states."
SUPER CAPTION: Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister
The Belarus leader then headed to the Kremlin to meet Russian President Boris Yeltsin and sign the treaty at an official ceremony.
The signing had originally been scheduled for November 26 but was postponed because of Boris Yeltsin's recent illness.
At the signing, which took place in the Kremlin's lavish St. George's Hall, Yeltsin declared that the treaty was not a pact against anyone, including the United States.

"The union between Russia and Belarus is based on the preservation of the sovereignty and independence of the participating countries. The union has not been formed against anyone, even against US President Bill Clinton."

Lukashenko expressed relief that, despite criticism, the union had gone forward.

"Many did not believe that in the wake of the economic and political ruin of the former Soviet Union, this integration could be realized. We have shown that is not just a possibility but a reality."

Lukashenko has been the treaty's main advocate since his 1994 election.
The union treaty signing comes on the eighth anniversary of the Belovezhskaya Agreement, signed in December of 1991 by the leaders of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, officially dissolving the Soviet Union.
