EURO 2016 RIOTS - England & Russia Fans Battle after Teams Draw 1-1
At least 20 people have been taken to hospital after English and Russian football fans clashed with each other and with French riot police in the French port city of Marseille.
late on Saturday that Russian fans attacked their English rivals inside the stadium, straight after their countries' opening match ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw.
After the final whistle of the match at the Stade Velodrome, Russian supporters were seen storming a section of the ground housing England fans, causing them to flee. Video footage and still images posted on social media also showed people running towards one side of the stadium in order to escape.
During the match, flares were also fired from a section seating Russian fans. With up to 90,000 fans expected to fill the city, authorities were working to keep some sort of control of the crowd.
Europe's football organisation UEFA said on Saturday it "firmly condemns" the street battles. Hooliganism in Russian football has a long history, with many clubs having a strong following from both far-right groups and supporters who idolise 1970s English football gang culture and often get into fights in and around the stadiums.
The FA condemned the brawling in Marseille with spokesman Mark Whittle saying 'the FA is very disappointed by the terrible scenes that we saw there and of course condemns such behaviour.'
He called on French authorities 'to identify those involved in the troubles and deal with them appropriately and quickly'. Hours after the initial fighting outside bars, restaurants and a tourists' market, the front of a bar called 'the Red Eagle' was seen engulfed in flames as fans threw missiles at each other.
It appeared a group of English fans were targeted as they drank in the bar's terrace area and the group were then seen hurling objects and chairs at rival fans as hooliganism reared its ugly head.
The Russians attending the tournament are likely in the main to be wealthy urban Russians who have the cash to fly internationally, as well as a large contingent of wealthy Russians who live on France’s Mediterranean coast. But, as with the England fans, it is believed that a sizeable contingent of hardcore fans looking for fights have also travelled. Russian news agencies showed a photograph of a man posing in front of a line of riot police, draped in a Russian flag and wearing a Vladimir Putin T-shirt.

UEFA stadium categories
UEFA stadium categories are categories for association football stadiums laid out in the UEFA Stadium Infrastructure Regulations. Using these regulations, stadiums are rated as category one, two, three, or four (renamed from elite) in ascending ranking order. These categories replaced the previous method of ranking stadiums on one to five star scale in 2006. A stadium must be category four to host games in the playoffs of the qualifying stage for the UEFA Champions League or any game in the main competition. Category four is also required to host any game in the main competition of the UEFA Europa League or the UEFA European Football Championship.
General
If a retractable roof is present, its use will be directed by consultation between the UEFA delegate and the main assigned referee.
Although the minimum stadium capacity for category four is 8,000, no stadium with a capacity less than 35,000 has been selected to host a UEFA Europa League Final, and no stadium with a capacity less than 60,000 has been selected to host a UEFA Champions League Final, since these regulations were introduced in 2006.

Hooliganism in Russian football has a long history, with many clubs having a strong following from both far-right groups and supporters who idolise 1970s English football gang culture and often get into fights in and around the stadiums.
The FA condemned the brawling in Marseille with spokesman Mark Whittle saying 'the FA is very disappointed by the terrible scenes that we saw there and of course condemns such behaviour.'
He called on French authorities 'to identify those involved in the troubles and deal with them appropriately and quickly'. In february 2008 the County Council of Cluj chosed UTCN --Techincal University of Cluj Napoca winner in international Auction for the new stadium project. The project realized by the design office, Dico si Tiganas, had at that time 30000 seats,underground parking on two levels and athletic field.
Initially two projects were suggested.The first, a classic recatangular shaped stadium, after the english model, was sugested by the Technicall University, and the second one, elipsoidal, was projected by OHL Spain.Both projects included an office building nearby the Stadium.Winners of the auction were UTCN because they had lower prices.
