Looking back along the pier to the shore, we can see the Esplanade to the right, the ferry office building with the New Ferry Hotel beyond. The boy posing for the photographer (about 13 years of age) was from the training ship Indefatigable that was moored in the river. The pier, built in 1865, was the longest on the Mersey, stretching out 850 feet into the river. It was demolished in 1929, seven years after it was seriously damaged by a steamer.

New Ferry is an urban area located on the Wirral Peninsula, England. Situated to the east of Bebington, it is part of the Bromborough Ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral and in the parliamentary constituency of Wirral South. The 2001 Census measured the town's population at 5,300.
History
As with the neighbouring settlement of Rock Ferry to the north, a ferry service gave its name to the locality, with the first recorded mention of New Ferry in 1774. Additionally, on 4 April 1865, a "South End" service was established between New Ferry and a dock basin in the southern dock system of Liverpool, although this appeared to be relatively short-lived. From 1879, services to Liverpool Pier Head were usually augmented with Rock Ferry. The ferry service was forced to close after a ship collided with New Ferry Pier in thick fog, in the early hours of 30 January 1922. Due to declining passenger numbers, improved local land-based public transport and a close proximity to the Rock Ferry service, it never reopened. The lease on the Ferry Rights officially expired on 22 September 1927, although no service had operated at New Ferry for over five years as a result of the collision.

Six iconic new ferries for Sydney harbour
The NSW Government is ordering six brand new modern ferries that will be some of the fastest in the fleet and have a similar look to the very popular First Fleet vessels on Sydney Harbour. The NSW Government is delivering new ferries as part of Sydney’s Ferry Future, our 20-year plan to modernise and expand Sydney’s ferry network. The concept design and specifications outlined in the tender were developed using feedback from customers, and expertise from the shipbuilding and maritime industries. Tenders for the new inner harbour vessels open today and close in February 2015. Detailed design and construction of the new ferries will begin next year, with the first vessel to be on the water in 2016.

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Wolfe Island Thousand Islands Travel Guide | Ferry from Kingston Ontario Canada. Today we've got an exciting afternoon trip that we're going to be taking. We're going to Wolfe Island, which is just off of Kingston. We're going to be taking a ferry. The best part about it is that it is free. We're just going to be having a really cool time over there. We're planning on doing a lot of walking just wandering around to get away from the city for a little while.

After spending the morning touring historic downtown Kingston and Queen's University we decided to take a free 20 minute ferry, boarding the Wolfe Islander III, over to Wolfe Island.
The ferry runs daily throughout the year starting at 5:45 am with a final run at 2 AM.
As the largest of the world-renowned Thousand Islands, the 29 kilometer long Wolfe Island is situated at the entrance of the Saint Lawrence River in Lake Ontario.
We're out here on Wolfe Island and it is a Friday afternoon and the streets are pretty empty. We've just been driving around the island and pulling over whenever we see something interesting. We just found some cows over here in a field so we're photographing them. Yeah.
This is the kind of cute little island where you'll enjoy the slower pace of life, farmland, windmills, beaches and other recreational activities.
We are here at the ferry terminal and this must be the smallest border inspection area I've ever seen.
For those with time to spare, you can cross over to the United States via ferry from Wolfe Island to Cape Vincent, New York with frequent daily routes between May to October.
This is awesome. I've never been so close to a windmill before.
Other attractions on Wolfe Island include a corn maze, bicycle routes, a golf course and country roads.
What are you doing? We stopped for a little ice cream break. I'm having black cherry and strawberry and this is what you're having. And you've got it in your hand. It look gross. Are you going to eat it? It looks gross. Yeah. Rude.
With time to spare before we caught our Ferry back to Kingston, we enjoyed eating ice cream, tanning and walking out on the pier.
Our time went by so quickly and before we knew it we were boarding the ferry again.
Along the way you'll spot wildlife, pass various other boats and have a great view of the Royal Military College of Canada campus.
If you're visiting Kingston, Wolfe Island is a perfect little day trip -- especially during the summer months.

We're going to Wolfe Island, which is just off of Kingston. We're going to be taking a ferry. The best part about it is that it is free. We're just going to be having a really cool time over there. We're planning on doing a lot of walking just wandering around to get away from the city for a little while.

After spending the morning touring historic downtown Kingston and Queen's University we decided to take a free 20 minute ferry, boarding the Wolfe Islander III, over to Wolfe Island.
The ferry runs daily throughout the year starting at 5:45 am with a final run at 2 AM.
As the largest of the world-renowned Thousand Islands, the 29 kilometer long Wolfe Island is situated at the entrance of the Saint Lawrence River in Lake Ontario.
We're out here on Wolfe Island and it is a Friday afternoon and the streets are pretty empty. We've just been driving around the island and pulling over whenever we see something interesting. We just found some cows over here in a field so we're photographing them. Yeah.
This is the kind of cute little island where you'll enjoy the slower pace of life, farmland, windmills, beaches and other recreational activities.
We are here at the ferry terminal and this must be the smallest border inspection area I've ever seen.

Barangaroo Ferry Hub: piling work explained
Work is well underway on installing the steel piles which will form the foundations of a new ferry hub at Barangaroo. The Barangaroo Ferry Hub will include two new ferry wharves at Barangaroo that will service customers travelling from the inner harbour and Sydney’s west. History
The origin of the brand date back to 1933, when Harvard classmates Ernest Henderson and Robert Moore purchased the Continental Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1937 they purchased the Standard Investing Company and made it the company through which they ran their hotels. Their second hotel, and the first as part of the new company, was the Stonehaven Hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts, a converted apartment building they purchased in 1937. The chain got its name from a third hotel the pair acquired in Boston, which already had a large lighted sign on the roof saying "Sheraton Hotel" that was too expensive to change. Instead, Henderson and Moore decided to call all their hotels by that name.
Henderson and Moore purchased Boston's famed Copley Plaza Hotel in 1941, continuing with their rapid expansion opening properties along the entire East Coast. In 1945, Sheraton was the first hotel chain to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
In 1949 Sheraton expanded internationally with the purchase of two Canadian hotel chains. In 1956, Sheraton purchased the Eppley Hotel Company, which was then the largest privately held hotel business in the United States, for $30 million. Three years later, in 1959 it purchased the four hotels owned by the Matson Lines in Honolulu, Hawaii, its first hotels outside North America. In 1955, Sheraton began to build large highway hotels (100-300 rooms); in 1962 a franchise division was created to promote Sheraton Motor Inns. These provided free parking and competed with roadside motels.
The 1960s saw the first Sheraton hotels outside the US and Canada with the opening of the Tel Aviv-Sheraton in Israel in February 1961 and the Macuto-Sheraton outside Caracas, Venezuela, in 1963. By 1965, the 100th Sheraton property, the Sheraton-Boston Hotel, had opened its doors. The multinational conglomerate ITT purchased the chain in 1968, after which it was known as ITT Sheraton. The chain deployed its automated Reservatron system and, in late 1969, a US national toll-free number displaced two hundred local Sheraton reservation numbers.
In 1985, Sheraton became the first western company to operate a hotel in the People's Republic of China. It assumed management of the state-built Great Wall Hotel in Beijing, which became the Great Wall Sheraton.
In 1994, ITT Sheraton purchased a controlling interest in the Italian CIGA chain, the Compagnia Italiana Grandi Alberghi, or Italian Grand Hotels Company, which had been seized from its previous owner, the Aga Khan, by its creditors. The chain had begun by operating hotels in Italy, but over-expanded across Europe just as a recession hit.[8] These hotels formed the core of what came to be the ITT Sheraton Luxury group, later Starwood's Luxury Collection.
In April 1995, Sheraton introduced a new, mid-scale hotel brand Four Points by Sheraton Hotels, to replace the designation of certain hotels as Sheraton Inns. In 1998, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. acquired ITT Sheraton, outbidding Hilton. Under Starwood's leadership, Sheraton has begun renovating many existing hotels and expanding the brand's footprint. In 2016, Marriott International purchased Starwood Hotels in which the newly merged company became the largest resort company.

Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is a chain of luxury hotels owned by Marriott International.
History
The origin of the brand date back to 1933, when Harvard classmates Ernest Henderson and Robert Moore purchased the Continental Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1937 they purchased the Standard Investing Company and made it the company through which they ran their hotels. Their second hotel, and the first as part of the new company, was the Stonehaven Hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts, a converted apartment building they purchased in 1937. The chain got its name from a third hotel the pair acquired in Boston, which already had a large lighted sign on the roof saying "Sheraton Hotel" that was too expensive to change. Instead, Henderson and Moore decided to call all their hotels by that name.
Henderson and Moore purchased Boston's famed Copley Plaza Hotel in 1941, continuing with their rapid expansion opening properties along the entire East Coast. In 1945, Sheraton was the first hotel chain to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
In 1949 Sheraton expanded internationally with the purchase of two Canadian hotel chains. In 1956, Sheraton purchased the Eppley Hotel Company, which was then the largest privately held hotel business in the United States, for $30 million. Three years later, in 1959 it purchased the four hotels owned by the Matson Lines in Honolulu, Hawaii, its first hotels outside North America. In 1955, Sheraton began to build large highway hotels (100-300 rooms); in 1962 a franchise division was created to promote Sheraton Motor Inns. These provided free parking and competed with roadside motels.
The 1960s saw the first Sheraton hotels outside the US and Canada with the opening of the Tel Aviv-Sheraton in Israel in February 1961 and the Macuto-Sheraton outside Caracas, Venezuela, in 1963. By 1965, the 100th Sheraton property, the Sheraton-Boston Hotel, had opened its doors. The multinational conglomerate ITT purchased the chain in 1968, after which it was known as ITT Sheraton. The chain deployed its automated Reservatron system and, in late 1969, a US national toll-free number displaced two hundred local Sheraton reservation numbers.
In 1985, Sheraton became the first western company to operate a hotel in the People's Republic of China. It assumed management of the state-built Great Wall Hotel in Beijing, which became the Great Wall Sheraton.
In 1994, ITT Sheraton purchased a controlling interest in the Italian CIGA chain, the Compagnia Italiana Grandi Alberghi, or Italian Grand Hotels Company, which had been seized from its previous owner, the Aga Khan, by its creditors. The chain had begun by operating hotels in Italy, but over-expanded across Europe just as a recession hit.[8] These hotels formed the core of what came to be the ITT Sheraton Luxury group, later Starwood's Luxury Collection.
In April 1995, Sheraton introduced a new, mid-scale hotel brand Four Points by Sheraton Hotels, to replace the designation of certain hotels as Sheraton Inns. In 1998, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. acquired ITT Sheraton, outbidding Hilton. Under Starwood's leadership, Sheraton has begun renovating many existing hotels and expanding the brand's footprint. In 2016, Marriott International purchased Starwood Hotels in which the newly merged company became the largest resort company.

The installation was strongly powered by a custom VOID soundsystem to keep the party bumping all night long. The Lab brought some of EDC's massive headliners to a packed Smirnoff House party along with some special guest DJ sets from Mija and Jauz, allowing fans to get up and close to their favorite DJs.
Friday saw Martin Solveig (house set), Ookay, Sacha Robotti, a wicked jungle set from Rusko, a surprise appearance from Mija and more. Jauz, Lane 8 and Ravell smashed it on Saturday and we closed out Sunday with Ferry Corsten back-to-back Markus Schulz (as New World Punx), a hip hop set from Brillz, a This Ain't Bristol takeover with Billy Kenny and Maximono and more.
