On the 4th October 1582, Pope Gregory XIII implemented the Gregorian calendar. Although this calendar is now the most widely used calendar in the world, it was initially only adopted by the Catholic Church and the Papal States since to become a nation’s official calendar it had to be approved by the civil authorities. The only areas to therefore implement it on the specified date were the territories governed by Philip II of Spain, the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Papal States.
Due to a drift between the Julian calendar, the lunar calendar, and the real moon, the date on which the church celebrated Easter had begun to move away from when it had been celebrated by the early church. The Catholic Church disliked this seasonal drift, and so decreed the papal bull Inter gravissimas in early 1582 to reform or – in the words of the Latin text to ‘restore’ – the calendar to align with that at the time of the First Council of Nicaea in 325.
Due to thirteen centuries’ worth of accumulated variations between the existing and new calendars, the change to the Gregorian calendar demanded the deletion of ten days. Consequently, in the territories that adopted the new calendar, the day after the 4th October 1582 became the 15th October – although the day of the week did not change.
Although most Catholic countries swiftly adopted the Gregorian calendar, Protestant governments initially rejected it. However, by the end of the 18th Century most of the countries of Western Europe – including the sizeable British Empire – switched to the Gregorian calendar to ease international trade.

Nowadays it's easy to take the calendar for granted -- nations across the world have agreed that (for business purposes) each year is twelve months long. But how did we get this calendar in the first place?

Behold…the modern Calendar. But where did it come from?
Meet Aloysius Lilius, born in Italy in approximately 1510.
Most of Aloysius' life is a mystery, but we do know he was a professor of medicine at the University of Perugia around 1552.
His manuscript on calendar reform was presented to the Vatican in 1576, the same year he passed away.
This reformed system, which came to be known as the Gregorian calendar, was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582.
However, centuries before this system became the world's common civil calendar.
Calendars are an ancient invention, and most likely predate the written word.
For centuries before the Gregorian calendar was invented, much of the Western world used the Julian calendar instituted by Julius Caesar.
Unfortunately, the Julian calendar was flawed and slipped a little bit each year.
Each year the days on the calendar corresponded a little less to the actual orbit of Earth around the sun.
By the time Aloysius came around, the Julian calendar was more than ten days off, which caused great concern to church officials trying to determine the date important religious events like Easter.
Aloysius' calendar proposed a solar year of 365 days divided into twelve months, with an extra day added on leap years to correct for smaller inaccuracies.
Though the Gregorian calendar isn't perfect, it has become the world's common civil calendar.
Thanks to Aloysius, people around the world finally agree on the date.

He is best known for commissioning and being the namesake for the Gregorian calendar, which remains the internationally accepted civil calendar to this day. During his pontificate, Gregory fostered cultural patronages associated with his papacy. He strengthened many ecclesiastical and diplomatic envoys to Asia, namely the islands of Japan and the Philippines. He was also the first Pope to bestow the Immaculate Conception as Patroness to the Philippine Islands on 9 February 1579 through the Papal Bull Ilius Fulti Præsido.

Curiously, one of the Popes adopted the winged serpent or dragon as his symbol on his heraldic shield. Here is the heraldic coat of arms of Pope Gregory XIII, 1572-1585 A.D., who is most known for initiating the calendar reform in use today, the Gregorian calendar. This is something you can confirm in the book The Pope Encyclopedia by Matthew Bunsen, published by Crown Trade Paperbacks, 1995, ISBN 0-517-88256-6, page 163.
The coat of arms of Gregory XIII shown here is one of two that can be found above the doors in the Gallery of Maps in the Vatican. Revelation 12 clearly tells us that the dragon is symbolic of Satan, so why did a pope use it as his symbol?

http://www.CreationMoments.com
Why was there no October 5th, 1582? The answer next on today’s Creation Moment. Now here’s your host, Ian Taylor. Did you know that there was no October 5, 1582? There wasn't even an October 6 that year. Why? The story begins with the Earth's orbit. A year is exactly 365 days, 5 hours 48 minutes and 46 seconds longer. This means that every year when the day of your birth arrives, the Earth is not exactly where it was in its orbit on the day you were born. Though the eleven-minute error is small, it does add up over hundreds of years. The Julian calendar, with its leap day every four years, helped correct this problem to some extent, but not completely. That's because the year is not quite 365 and one-quarter days long. Over the 1,600 years of its existence, the minutes and seconds not reflected in the Julian calendar added up. So in 1582, Pope Gregory XIII announced refinements to the calendar by adding leap years. Moreover, every 400 years, a year ending in "00" received a leap day. This system keeps the calendar accurate to one day every 3,300 years. The old calendar had become inaccurate by ten days over its 1,600 years of use. To correct it, Pope Gregory declared that October 4, 1582, was to be followed by October 15! The fact that man has always been making fairly accurate calendars reflects his intelligence, given to him from the beginning by an intelligent Creator.

This is my first book that I have written and self-published on Lulu.com. I am a Traditional Latin Mass Roman Catholic and on the most beautiful that I've loved the most is the Triple Crown Papal Tiara. Some the remaining still exist today in the Vatican, but most of them got destroyed in the early 19th century when Napoleon, even though that Napoleon had given Pope Pius VII one. The remaining tiaras that still exist, one from the late 16th century that belonged to Pope Gregory XIII and the rest are from the early 19th century, the 20th century and one of the early 21st century that belonged to Benedict XVI.
You can E-mail me at sergiobecerra26@yahoo.com. You can also find on Facebook at Sergio Becerra II and also find me on Twitter @SergioBecerraII.
If anyone in any parts of the world who is a manufacturer in liturgical vestments and in jewelry, I would like to know how to make a papal tiara. And if anyone who is a prop designer for movies or T.V. shows and has made a prop tiara, I would like to know how to make one please.

One of the stars of Duck Dynasty, Si Robertson, was recently speaking to the Christian Post about an upcoming film he’s in called “Faith Of Our Fathers.” During the interview Robertson said he doesn’t believe Atheists exist because of…calendars? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian (The Point) hosts of The Young Turks discuss. Does his argument have merit? Let us know in the comments below.
"There's no such thing as an atheist, according to one of the stars of the reality TV show "Duck Dynasty."
Si Robertson, known to fans of the show as “Uncle Si,” told the Christian Post that anyone who uses the date is acknowledging Jesus.
"There's no such thing as an atheist," Robertson told the website. "I'm serious, because there's too much documentation. Our calendars are based on Jesus Christ. Whether you believe in him or not, every time you sign your calendar, you add down the day's date, you're saying he's here, OK? That's documented."
While the widely used Gregorian calendar introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 uses years based on the approximate birth of Jesus Christ, the names of many of the months and days of the week retain their pagan origins. March, for example, is named for Mars, the Roman god of war. Tuesday is based on Tiu or Tiw, the Germanic god of war."

Travel video about destination Roma in Italy.
Roma Aeterna, eternal city and ancient centre of the world.
The Piazza Navona is situated in one of the Italian capital's most beautiful squares in a city that has always been a dream destination for travelers from all over the world. Three large fountains adorn the large oval square that was built above the ruins of a Domitian stadium that dates back to the 3rd century A.D.
The Romans had a special regard for fountains, the most famous of which is the Fontana Di Trevi. It was designed by Nicolo Salvi for the façade of the Palazzo Poli.
The Via Appia Antica was the most important street in ancient Rome. It connected the southern area with the main city and even today, one can walk over its ancient cobblestones.
Pope Gregory XIII had the Palazzo Del Quirinale built as his summer residence but it was not long after that the Italian monarchs acquired it as their Renaissance palace. Today it is the residence of Italy's President and the daily changing of the guards ceremony is still a popular attraction.
The 17th century St. Peter's Square is the most beautiful square in the world and is situated in the centre of the Vatican, an autonomous Church State in the heart of Rome that also contains the imposing and breathtaking Petersdom, the largest Christian church in the world.
The allure of this city lies in its combination of chaos and joie de vivre, elegance and creativity. Rome is a complete work of art!

NIKOLA TESLA EXPERIMENT TUNGUSKA 1908
On June 30, 1908, over 100 years ago, a huge explosion destroyed over 1,000 miles of a very remote and sparsely inhabited region of central Siberia.
The exact date of the event is very uncertain because nobody from the outside reached the region until 1927, and there is an 11 day difference between the Julian calendar then used by the Russians, and the Gregorian calendar which supplanted the Julian calendar.
In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII massacred the calendar by taking out 11 days in the month of October. The Russians did not convert to the Gregorian calendar until after the 1917 Russian Revolution.
Because of the remote location, the Russian Revolution, and Civil War, an expedition did not reach Tunguska until 1927. Initial reports said that it was a meteorite because a celestial phenomenon like the northern lights or aurora borealis could be seen as far south as London.
This explosion was not a meteorite or visitors from outer space....It was the work of the super Serbian scientist named Nikola Tesla.
Tesla's particle beam missed the North Pole!!
Normally the super genius Tesla was totally exact in his calculations. His brain was a SUPER COMPUTER and he did all the mathematics in his head without the use of even a slide rule. When he designed Niagara Falls, it worked perfectly the first time—as did all of his inventions....For Tesla to miss the North Pole must have been the work of Divine Providence.
The British were desperately seeking a super weapon that would help them restore the Papal States. Had Tesla devastated the North Pole, Perry would have reported the news, and it would have created a worldwide sensation....The true extent of the Tunguska devastation did not reach the outside world until after 1927.
The very intelligent Russians soon put two and two together and approached Tesla to acquire his technology. Tesla offered his invention to the U.S. government first but they turned him down.
Later, he offered it to the British government , but they showed no interest, because they were already totally familiar with the military potential of electricity. They did adopt his radar invention and used it to great effect during World War II.
Long Island lay in a direct path between Peary's destination and the North Pole.
Long Island lay in a direct path between Peary's destination and the North Pole.
Tesla had a clear shot at the North Pole from his transmitter located at Shoreham, Long Island.
Peary wintered in Ellesmere Island before setting out for the North Pole in 1909.
After Tesla fired his particle beam, he waited anxiously for some communication from Peary. Peary had nothing to report because Tesla overshot the target. This was very unlike the great genius Tesla because he definitely was not a trial and error inventor.
Unfortunately, the British denigrated Tesla and called him a wizard, a kook, a dangerous experimenter, and a mad scientist. Even British controlled Hollywood got in on the act and reinforced this stereotype by using a Tesla coil in a Frankenstein movie. After stealing millions of dollars in royalties, their agents Rockefeller and Morgan actually bankrupted him and he died penniless!!
The Soviet Union developed Tesla's particle beam weapons!!
To protect themselves from a sneak nuclear attack by the madmen in the British controlled Pentagon, the Russians developed defensive weapons based on Tesla's Technology.
Beginning in the 1960s, the Soviet Union conducted a substantial research program to develop a defense against ballistic missiles. The Soviets built, and Russia continues to maintain, the world's only operational anti-ballistic missile system. Additional programs focused on the development of other ground—and space-based weapons using laser, particle beam, and kinetic energy technology.
