Choice Ireland have called a demonstration on Wednesday 20th August at 6pm at the front of the Spire in O'Connell Street to protest the treatment of a pregnant woman who was suicidal and requested an abortion under the new laws but was refused.

Choice Ireland call for government to publish X legislation in aftermath of leaked Savita report

Speaking following the publication of leaked excerpts of the draft HSE report in to the death of Savita Halappanavar, Choice Ireland called on the Minister for Health James Reilly to bring forward the publication of the report and said that a copy of the report must be given to Ms. Halappanavar’s family immediately.
 

Choice Ireland Welcome Opinion Poll showing widespread support for Abortion Legislation

Choice Ireland have today welcomed polling carried out by IPSOS/MRBI and published in the Irish Times indicating widespread support for abortion legislation. The poll found that 70% of people supported legislation for the X case and 79% supported legislation to allow women to terminate pregnancies with a fatal foetal abnormality.
 
In particular we welcome the finding that 60% of respondents endorsed the view that abortion should be a woman's choice.
