Fishing boat, allegedly from Pakistan, blows itself up at sea

A boat, reportedly from Pakistan, blew itself up off the Gujarat coast on New Year's Eve. There were four people on the boat. So far, no survivors have been found. The fishing vessel was deemed suspicious and then intercepted and chased by the Coast Guard for nearly an hour off the coast of Porbandar. After the Coast Guard fired at the boat to warn it to stop, the vessel blew up. In 26/11, a Pakistani boat sailed into Mumbai with 10 terrorists on board who then split into pairs and struck the city's landmarks; 166 people were killed in India's worst-ever terror attack. Pakistani boat with explosives blows up off Gujarat coast, says government

A fishing boat from Pakistan with four people on board went up in flames off the Gujarat coast in what appeared to be an attempt to evade investigation by the Indian Navy on New Year's Eve, the government disclosed today. So far, no survivors have been found from the vessel which set sail from near Karachi in Pakistan for what the government described as "an illicit transaction" in the Arabian Sea. A US government report last year found Pakistan’s use of laws forbidding any insult to Islam or the Prophet Mohammed was “incomparable” to any other country, listing 14 people on death row. The Afghan Taliban meanwhile published an article on their website describing the killings as “an alarm bell for those who have in the past insulted Islam and the prophet,” but stopping short of openly supporting the attack.

He was replying to a volley of questions about the Pakistan's statement opposing "dedicated" townships in the Valley for displaced Kashmiri Pandits. On the issue of whether Government of India would lodge a protest against Pakistan over interference in its internal matter, he said,"There are mechanism in place for that. We have Ministry of External Affairs and Home and they take an appropriate positioning each time". On the issue whether the government will still go ahead with the twin city concept for rehabilitation of KPs in Valley following opposition from Pak and separatists, Singh said "I will not like to engage in this discussion because the Home Ministry is taking the cognizance of all the options and to the best of its wisdom, it will decide". On the issue of UN resolution & change of demographic concern, the Union Minister said, "as far as we in India are concerned, we go more by the resolution of 1994, which is passed in the Parliament unanimously by all the political parties which upheld that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of India and there is no issue left to be resolved".

Pakistan Day Parade 23 March 2015 - Full Pakistan Army Parade Pakistan Armed Forces Special Parade on Pakistan Day, 23 March 2015, Complete Video Military parade after gap of 7 years as nation marks Pakistan Day today SLAMABAD: Pakistan Day military parade will be held today with traditional zeal, enthusiasm and determination to strive harder for the country’s prosperity, peace, security and stability. The day will dawn with 21-gun salute in the federal capital and 19-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers will be offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country. It will be a public holiday and national flag will be hoisted on major government buildings. Various political, social, religious, educational and other organizations have arranged functions to highlight importance of Pakistan Resolution that paved the way for the creation of an independent homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent. The conventional military parade is being held after a gap of seven years at the newly constructed Parade Ground near Faizabad Interchange tomorrow morning. An investiture ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadar in the afternoon tomorrow wherein President Mamnoon Hussain will confer awards and medals on different people for their outstanding performance in different fields. Radio Pakistan will broadcast special programmes on the occasion and newspapers will publish special supplements The National Assembly of Pakistan will be hosting 1st International Conference of Parliamentarians of Pakistan Origin being held today in Parliament House, Islamabad. The theme of the conference would be “Celebrating the Common Heritage: Democracy”. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will inaugurate the Conference. Parliamentarians of Pakistani Origin elected to the legislatures around the world and Members of the National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan have been invited to attend the conference. National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq taking the initiative invited the Parliamentarians of Pakistani Origin to join hands to project the democratic credentials of our common heritage and honour of all those individuals who were serving anywhere in the world as people’s representatives. The Speaker was of the view that the Parliamentarians could serve as a bridge between the East and the West portraying the true image of peaceful, democratic and progressive Pakistan. A Pakistani court on Friday (March 13) suspended the detention order of LeT operations commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind, and ordered his immediate release, drawing India's ire. "Today the Islamabad High Court accepted Lakhvi's plea against his detention and ordered his immediate release," a court official told PTI. He said IHC judge Noorul Haq Qureshi had declared the government's order to detain Lakhvi under Maintenance of Public Order "illegal" and ordered his immediate release. Raja Rizwan Abbasi, counsel for Lakhvi, told PTI that he would submit the court's order to the administration of the Adiala Jail Rawalpindi for the release of his client. "We haven't yet received the court's order. However, we will submit the same to Adiala Jail for immediate release of Mr Lakhvi," he said. India strongly reacted to the IHC's ruling, saying the overwhelming evidence against Lakhvi has not been presented properly before court by Pakistani agencies. "It is the responsibility of the Pakistan government to take all legal measures to ensure that Lakhvi does not come out of jail," India's Ministry of Home Affairs said in Delhi. Sources in Pakistan's interior ministry said the federal government might detain Lakhvi under another public security order as the court hadalready restrained it from registering any other case against Lakhvi without its prior permission. "The HC has suspended the 30 days detention order MPO which was expiring this week. The government may detain him under a fresh detention order under the same law," they said. The last 30-day detention order was expiring this week. This is the second time the IHC suspended the government's order to detain Lakhvi under MPO. Lakhvi last month had challenged his 'fresh' detention under Maintenance of Public Order. On December 18, 2014, the trial court (Anti-Terrorism Cout-I, Islamabad) granted bail to Lakhvi but he was detained next day under the MPO. However, the IHC suspended Lakhvis detention on "weak legal ground". Just before he was to be released from Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, Lakhvi was arrested on charges of kidnapping an Afghan national in 2009. Later, the government challenged the HC's order in the Supreme Court which suspended the government's order to end his detention. The SC suspended the HC's order. Today the HC again suspended the government's order which was issued on February 13 to detain Lakhvi. Lakhvi and six others Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jameel Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younis Anjum have been charged with planning and executing the Mumbai attack in November, 2008 that left 166 people dead. Lakhvi, believed to be a close relative of LeT founder and Jamat-Ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, was arrested in December 2008 and was indicted along with the six others on November 25, 2009 in connection with the 26/11 attack case. The trial has been underway since 2009. Pakistani children are being fed a diet of hatred, with government-approved textbooks inciting hatred and intolerance of other cultures. Some teachers have now started deviating from the state curriculum, which describes Hindus as gangsters and refers to Christians as deranged crusaders. A recent study showed that state educational material also degrades Sikhs and Indians, and its content bears little or no difference to what is taught in madrassas. A new government study released Wednesday reveals Pakistan's educational system encourages radical Islam. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom said the country's textbooks and teachers are biased against non-Muslims and foster "prejudice and intolerance" of Hindus and Christians. "Teaching discrimination increases the likelihood that violent religious extremism in Pakistan will continue to grow, weakening religious freedom, national and regional stability, and global security," Commission Chairman Leonard Leo said. The report specifically said Pakistani teachers view religious minorities, especially Hindus and to a lesser extent, Christians, as "enemies of Islam." It said that it's likely that violent religious extremism will continue to grow in Pakistan. "Religious minorities are often portrayed as inferior or second-class citizens who have been granted limited rights and privileges by generous Pakistani Muslims, for which they should be grateful," the report said. The study reviewed more than 100 textbooks from first through 10th grade from Pakistan's four provinces. Researchers also visited public schools and madrases where they interviewed teachers and students.

The Hurriyat hardliner, who was released from Baramulla prison last month by the PDP-BJP coalition government, was seen standing amidst a mob and holding an anti-India rally. He was raising anti-India slogans to greet pro-Pakistan leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani of the Hurriyat. This was Geelani's first public rally after the 2010 summer agitation in Srinagar in which over 100 youth were killed. Reacting to the development, Congress slammed the PDP-BJP alliance and said that they have released a man who holds strong anti-India views. “The first step that BJP and PDP did in J&K; was to release Masarat Alam, a man responsible for stone-pelting and anti-India slogans. It's unfortunate, the incidents that are unfolding in Srinagar,” Congress leader RPN Singh was quoted as saying by ANI. The BJP also reacted and said that the state government should take cognizance of the matter. “The manner in which Pakistani flags were being raised during a protest in Srinagar is completely unacceptable. The government should take cognizance of the matter,” said BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao. When asked what action would the PDP government take in this regard, party's leader Abhijit Jasrotia told ANI, “If law says FIR should be lodged, we will, if law says it is not to be lodged then we are not above law. If the law says that he (Masarat Alam) falls under such a criteria that he should be taken, we will go as per law.” Meanwhile, taking action against Alam, Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case against him under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
