Peers in the House of Lords ask a Government Minister about supporting Chagossian return to their homeland. Chagossians were expelled from their homeland in the late 60s and early 70s so a US military base could be built.
Chagossian have however fought for their right to return for decades. Now is a critical moment in the fight for return as the agreement on the use of the islands by the military is up for renewal. As Lord Luce suggests on this video, mutual support for Chagossian return to their homeland must be a condition of any extension of this deal.
