Here’s the photo that’s making the rounds on social media today: A raccoon seemingly hitching a ride across a river atop an alligator.

Richard Jones tells WFTV 9 that he and his family were walking along the Oaklawaha River in the Ocala National Forest in Florida on Sunday morning when they grabbed the shot.

Jones said his son, who had pushed his way through some palm fronds to take a picture, must have startled the raccoon who then hopped on top of the alligator.

“I snapped a lucky picture right when the gator slipped into the water and before the raccoon jumped off and scurried away. Without the context you’d think the raccoon was hitching a ride across the river. Pretty amazing,” Jones told the TV station.

“Definitely the photo of a lifetime.”
