The village of Beer is in south-east Devon, England, on Lyme Bay. It is situated on the 95-mile long Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site and its picturesque cliffs, including Beer Head, form part of the South West Coast Path. The name is not derived from the drink but from the old Anglo-Saxon word "bearu" ("grove"), referring to the original forestation that surrounded the town. It is a pretty coastal village, 25 miles from Exeter, that grew up around a smugglers' cove and caves which were once used[citation needed] to store contraband goods. These are now part of the attraction of the village. Many of the buildings are faced with flint, a hard glassy stone found in the local chalk rock.

http://democracynow.org - Four years after U.S. forces assassinated Osama bin Laden, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has published an explosive piece claiming much of what the Obama administration said about the attack was wrong. Hersh claims at the time of the U.S. raid, bin Laden had been held as a prisoner by Pakistani intelligence since 2006. Top Pakistani military leaders knew about the operation and provided key assistance. Contrary to U.S. claims that it located bin Laden by tracking his courier, a former Pakistani intelligence officer identified bin Laden’s whereabouts in return for the bulk of a $25 million U.S. bounty. Questions are also raised about whether bin Laden was actually buried at sea, as the U.S. claimed. Hersh says instead the Navy SEALs threw parts of bin Laden’s body into the Hindu Kush mountains from their helicopter. The White House claims the piece is "riddled with inaccuracies." Hersh joins us to lay out his findings and respond to criticism from government officials and media colleagues. The Guardian has learned that the Central Intelligence Agency had explicit guidelines for “human experimentation” before, during and after its post-9/11 torture of terrorism detainees. The report raises new questions about the limits on internal oversight over the agency’s in-house and contracted medical research. Sections of a previously classified CIA document, made public by the Guardian on Monday, empower the agency’s director to “approve, modify, or disapprove all proposals pertaining to human subject research”. The leeway provides the director with significant influence over limitations the US government sets to preserve safe, humane and ethical procedures on people. The CIA director has never in the agency’s history been a medical doctor, http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jun/15/cia-torture-human-experimentation-doctors http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News In late June, Berlin’s central Kreuzberg district became the scene of a tense standoff between a group of refugees squatting in an abandoned school and the district authorities. The refugees had moved into the school after authorities destroyed refugee camps just a few months earlier. As more and more squatters moved in, the governing Green party faced pressure to resolve a situation where hygiene was deteriorating and crime was becoming an issue. On June 24, authorities attempted to evict refugees from the school. With the refugees refusing to leave, the school and surrounding neighborhood block was besieged for eight days by riot police, protesters and press. VICE News was on the scene from day one and documented the events that would ultimately mark the climax of Germany's refugee protest. We gained access inside the school to document the situation and were also on the scene as negotiations between authorities and refugees were taking place to resolve the standoff. http://democracynow.org - Four years after U.S. forces assassinated Osama bin Laden, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has published an explosive piece claiming much of what the Obama administration said about the attack was wrong. The White House claims the piece is \

FIFA were in meltdown on Wednesday night, with allegations of top-level bribery and counter-claims of a dirty tricks campaign engulfing next week\'s presidential election.
Asian football chief Mohamed Bin Hammam, who is challenging Sepp Blatter, is alleged to have offered bundles of US dollar bills - of up to $40,000 (£25,000) - in exchange for votes during a football summit in the West Indies. He responded by claiming Blatter is behind attempts to discredit him.
The bribery charges that will be heard by the FIFA ethics committee in Zurich on Sunday were made by American Chuck Blazer against his fellow FIFA executive committee members Bin Hammam and Jack Warner and two other Caribbean football officials.

Kurdish forces are digging deeper into Syria\'s Raqqa province.

YPG militia are advancing towards ISIL-controlled Tal Abyad, at the Turkish border.

They are setting their sights set on taking the town, raising the prospect of a battle at the border.

For the YPG, seizing Tal Abyad would help them link up Kurdish-controlled areas in Hasaka province and Kobani.

The town is important to the self-proclaimed Islamic State group as the nearest border area to its de facto capital of Raqqa city.

Prison worker Joyce Mitchell pleads ‘not guilty’ at arraignment
This article has been updated.

Joyce Mitchell, the prison worker who was arrested Friday afternoon in connection with the escape of two convicted murderers in New York state, pleaded not guilty on all charges at her arraignment Friday evening. A preliminary hearing will take place Monday morning.

Mitchell, 51, is accused of providing the convicts, David Sweat and Richard Matt, with contraband before they escaped the maximum security section of Clinton Correctional Facility early Saturday.
She is charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal facilitation, a misdemeanor, police said. If convicted, Mitchell could face up to seven years in prison for the first charge and up to a year in jail for the second charge, said Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie. He said Mitchell could face more charges.+Guilt+Plea+Prison (Quotation Subject)+Arraignment (Legal Subject)+Not

The CIA director has never in the agency’s history been a medical doctor,

In late June, Berlin’s central Kreuzberg district became the scene of a tense standoff between a group of refugees squatting in an abandoned school and the district authorities.

VICE News was on the scene from day one and documented the events that would ultimately mark the climax of Germany\'s refugee protest. We gained access inside the school to document the situation and were also on the scene as negotiations between authorities and refugees were taking place to resolve the standoff.
