The Association is an American pop band from California in the folk rock or soft rock genre. During the 1960s, they had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts (including "Windy", "Cherish", and "Along Comes Mary") and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival.
Jules Alexander (born September 25, 1943, Chattanooga, Tennessee) was in Hawaii in 1962 serving a stint in the Navy when he met Terry Kirkman (born December 12, 1939, Salina, Kansas, who had grown up in Chino, California, and attended Chaffey College as a music major), a visiting salesman. The two young musicians jammed together and promised to get together once Alexander was discharged. That happened a year later; the two eventually moved to Los Angeles and began exploring the city's music scene in the mid-1960s, often working behind the scenes as directors and arrangers for other music acts. At the same time, Kirkman played in groups with Frank Zappa for a short period before Zappa went on to form The Mothers of Invention.
Association may refer to:
Voluntary associations, groups of individuals who voluntarily enter into an agreement to accomplish a purpose:
Associations in various fields of study:
A birthday is an occasion when a person or institution celebrates the anniversary of their birth. Birthdays are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with a gift, party, or rite of passage.
Many religions celebrate the birth of their founders with special holidays (e.g. Christmas, Buddha's Birthday).
Note the distinction between birthday and birthdate: The former, other than February 29, occurs each year (e.g. May 11), while the latter is the exact date a person was born (e.g., May 11, 1998).
In most legal systems, one becomes designated as an adult on a particular birthday (usually between 12 and 21), and reaching age-specific milestones confers particular rights and responsibilities. At certain ages, one may become eligible to leave full-time education, or become subject to military conscription or to enlist in the military, to consent to sexual intercourse, to marry, to marry without parental consent, to vote, to run for elected office, to legally purchase (or consume) alcohol and tobacco products, to purchase lottery tickets, or to obtain a driver's licence. The age of majority is the age when minors cease to legally be considered children and assume control over their persons, actions, and decisions, thereby terminating the legal control and legal responsibilities of their parents or guardian over and for them. Most countries set majority between 18 to 21.
Time is a common term for the experience of duration and a fundamental quantity of measuring systems.
Time also may refer to:
The Smothers Brothers are Thomas ("Tom" – born February 2, 1937) and Richard ("Dick" – born November 20, 1938), American singers, musicians, and comedians. The brothers' trademark double act was performing folk songs (Tommy on acoustic guitar, Dick on string bass), which usually led to arguments between the siblings. Tommy's signature line was, "Mom always liked you best!" Tommy (the elder of the two) acted "slow", and Dick, the straight man, acted "superior".
In the 1960s, the brothers frequently appeared on television variety shows and issued several popular record albums of their stage performances. Their own television variety show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, became one of the most controversial American TV programs of the Vietnam War era. Despite popular success, the brothers' penchant for material that was critical of the political mainstream and sympathetic to the emerging counterculture led to their firing by the CBS network in 1969. One show was left unaired.

As a shy kid who liked girls from afar, it was easy to get drawn to The Association. They were a sensitive 1960s pop-folk group whose sound was sort of like a garage band, only made up of talented, trained and well-read musicians. They were a tall glass of band room cooled down by ice cubes of whimsy. And if you sang along to their best known hits, "Windy" and "Cherish," you probably sounded much better to in your head than you did coming out of it. This track is probably true to that as well, though I confess I don't really like the song that much. It has all the individual elements of a smooth, introspective track, but it seems to have been assembled without a manual. The flip side, "Time For Livin'" doesn't do much for me either. But if you are a gifted musician, you will probably hav...

I still had the original mp4 on my HDD from when SixtiesPopGold originally uploaded this about 6 years ago, it has slightly less compression than the version currently up here, so I fixed the color hue and cleaned up the audio a wee bit, of course, YouTube always seems to mess up the contrast so things appear slightly darker than I actually made them.
The Association March 1, 1970 live at the Felt Forum theater located inside Madison Square Garden. Attendance was low, but the show recieved rave review in the March 14, 1970 issue of Billboard Magazine. One of the best and most underrated bands of the sixties. Amazing vocal harmonies. The orginal recording has been processed through Adobe Audition 3.0 to bring out some of the highs and lows and remixed to create a fake stereo. A bit of clarity has been sacrificed for the sake of added punch. For the original recording, please check out 67pysche2 and his amazing channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dom-BkWtWtE The show was part of the Benefit For Coalition Venture Corp. In honor of both Jim Morrison's physical birthday, December 8th, and his "spiritual birthday, July 3rd," Meowma produced this radio show in association with American Radio Network, for Kaleidoscope Radio Magazine. Curiously, another of Meowma's self-professed influences, John Lennon, died on Jim Morrison's birthday, December 8th. Whoa. But as Meowma explains, "Birth and death are naturally, inherently related, as two sides of a token. Or, they're the same process. Being born into this world, we're kind of dying from the spiritual world. And dying from this physical world, we're born back into the spiritual world. So birth and death are really the same thing, but it is said that it's ten times easier to be born into the spiritual world than it is to be born into the physical. Seems natura...
Birthday Morning
(Jim Yester)
Night has cried
Her dewdrops in the grass
The dark has passed
And now it's morning
A birthday morning
Now the dawn is waking
In her hands
Awaiting plans
Of ribs and apples
To find the love way
This happy birthday
Got the feel of sunrise
In her hair
God unwinds her halo
To the stairway
To the moon
Just for this morning
A birthday morning
Now the dreams
Are dancing candlelight
That end the night
To bring her day dreams
And show the love way
This happy birthday
Got the feel of sunrise
In her hair
God unwinds her halo
To the stairway
To the moon
Just for this morning
A birthday morning
God bless the morning
God bless this morning
God bless this morning
