Travel video about destination Miami in the United States of America.
Miami is a tropical, gleaming metropolis with palm trees, beaches, Art Deco, luxury and crime. Along with Miami Beach, it is at the centre of the expanding southern region of the American State of Florida and has both a highly developed economy, as well as a flourishing tourist industry.
Miami Beach is a narrow island just off the mainland and Miami and is a leisure world of the young and beautiful and of the rich and famous. In 1915, millionaire Carl Fisher had a road constructed through the island's dense and snake-invested mangrove forest, today's Lincoln Road.

Cuba Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Cuba.
Basking in the Caribbean sun, the island of Cuba lies between sun and socialism, rumba and revolution. Havana is the capital. In 1553, the Spanish conquerors designated Havana’s harbour as a collection point for ships loaded with gold and silver from the new Spanish colonies and named the settlement, San Cristobal De La Habana.La Bodeguita Del Medio was once Hemmingway`s local and nowhere else is the ‘Mojito’ mixed better: three year old white rum, lime juice, soda, sugar, ice and mint. Whether it be the Teatro Marti, the Old Tobacco Factory, the famous Bacardi house, or the Floridita Bar, everywhere there is a feeling of nostalgia. When the Daiquiri is served, one almost expects Fidel Castro to be sitting at the next table. Pinar Del Rio is a small but busy town in which the Red Star and portraits of Che Guevara are displayed for all to see. In the old town, colourful houses with beautiful pillared corridors demonstrate the former wealth of the country’s independent tobacco growers. Time means little here. While observing life on the streets, one begins to think in the same relaxed tempo of the leisurely-smoked cigars. A visit to a tobacco factory is a must. Cuba’s cigars are world famous. Together with sugar, tobacco is the country’s most important export. The oldest geological formation in Cuba are the Mogotes, well-weathered limestone peaks which, supported by pillars, once covered a large complex of caves. Over many decades, subterranean rivers flooded the earth below and thus created these gigantic grottos. On seven manmade islands in the centre of the Cienaga De Zapata National Park, is the Indian village of Guama. This swampy nature reserve with its dense mangrove forest vegetation offers an ideal sanctuary for many rare water birds. No Cuban town has changed as little in two hundred years than that of Trinidad. In the 18th century, the city experienced great wealth and recognition due to the cultivation of sugar cane and the luxurious palaces and villas of the sugar barons still leave their mark on the city. Rich green tropical forests, tobacco country at the foot of mysterious mountain caves, humid tropical swamps, history, cigars and rum. Cuba is a colourful cocktail

Trinidad Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Trinidad.
Located to the south of the Caribbean island of Cuba, Trinidad was founded by the Spaniard, Velazquez and in the 18th century the city experienced great wealth and recognition through the cultivation of sugar cane. The exclusive palaces and villas of the sugar barons still leave their mark on the city with tall wooden gates, barred windows and original roof tiles that characterise the style of bygone days. The Palacio Padron is located on the Plaza Mayor, the centre of the city. A few years ago the palace was lovingly restored in painstaking detail and transformed into an archaeological museum. Around the main square the most beautiful palaces stand in rows and are an impressive indicator of the colonial lifestyle enjoyed by the former sugar aristocracy. The slave trade and the cultivation of sugar cane made the island’s inhabitants incredibly wealthy and Trinidad became the most important cultural and trade centre in the whole of Cuba. The former palace of the Cantero sugar barons now houses the Museo De Historia, an impressive building in the Calle Bolivar in which visitors can marvel at old timepieces, porcelain, furniture and valuable crystal chandeliers. The seven storey Torre De Iznaga rises menacingly into the sky, the bells of which once summoned the plantation slaves to work while watchmen surveyed the valley from above because of the fears of the plantation owners who believed that one day the slaves would rebel against them. Splendid exotic beauty in a land situated between sun and socialism, sugar and cigars, rumba and revolution. In Trinidad it is as though everything is in a state of suspended animation waiting to be kissed awake.

When Christopher Columbus came to Guadeloupe in 1463, the existing populations were the Caribs. But Christopher Columbus did not stay, because the Spanish wanted to discover larger islands. The smaller island in the Caribbean were colonized by the British and French, so in 1635 Guadeloupe by the French. It was mainly farmers from Normandie, Brittany and Charente settled on the island and cultivated Coffee and sugarcane plantations. Slavery was abolished in 1794, but it was reintroduced by Napoleon in 1802 because of the cheap labour and lasted until 1848.
The civilization today is creole, a melting pot: French, the descendants of black slaves, Indian immigrants, Syrian-Libanese immigrants and nowadays Chinese immigrants. Creole cuisine is a mixture of European food with African ingredients, oriental flavours and products from the Caribbean.
Gwoka is the traditional music on Guadeloupe, but not only music and danse, but also the joy of life and a reminder of the time of slavery
-------
Caribbean Moments shows a different side to the Caribbean. Everyone visualises sand, sunshine and palm trees – but hardly anyone really discovers what lies behind them. In fact an unbelievable variety of cultures, music and religions has developed as a result of the different influences – African, Indian, English, French and authentically Caribbean.
This documentary series attempts to portray the people - be they the Rastas, who have a lot to say about their mission, the Amerindians in Trinidad, who still have their own Queen, or the Black Caribs – a mixture of escaped slaves and Caribs.
In addition, of course, there’s a huge variety of music: steelpan, parang, calypso, soca and chutney soca shape Trinidad, whilst other islands are especially scenically beautiful, such as Dominica, which is actually a single rain forest and which seduces with its abundant vegetation. Here too are the true Caribs, who occupy themselves with traditional boat building in the same way as their ancestors did centuries ago.
The films were produced in 6 parts to create a documentary series that shows what lies beneath the surface.

The two islands Grande Terre and Basse Terre form the French Caribbean Island Guadeloupe like two butterfly wings, separated only by a narrow channel. The modern infrastructure and the good food are mixed with the local culture. Gwoka is the music of Guadeloupe, which is reminiscent of slavery.
Located on the lesser Antilles, Guadeloupe is the French part of the Caribbean and belongs to the European Union. It consists out of different islands: Grande Terre consists of limestone with long beautiful beaches, Basse Terre is a mountainous island with extensive rainforest and the volcano, la Soufrière. There are also the smaller islands of Marie-Galante and La Désirade, and the Îles des Saintes.

Miami Travel Video Guide
The aftermath of a powerful hurricane once meant a new beginning, hundreds of hotels and apartment houses were built in Art Deco Style and today, they blend well with the local lifestyle.
Since the 1950s, Virginia Key has been the home of the Miami Seaquarium, a marvelous world of marine life. It soon became world famous due to the incredible performances of its marine life and part of the TV Series 'Flipper' was filmed there.
The Miami region is a melting pot of immigrants from Latin America and the Caribbean, a lively metropolis on the edge of the Everglades and the Florida Keys. A unique American cocktail of glamour, flamboyance and harsh reality!

The Florida Keys are a group of thirty one coral islands that extend from Miami on the southern point of Florida, to the Caribbean, the first and largest of which is Key Largo that was made famous by a Hollywood movie of the same name. This wildlife refuge was created in 1936 and was later enlarged with botanical gardens and further animals from all over the world. On the east coast of the Florida Peninsula, Cape Canaveral juts out into the Atlantic. As far back as 1949 the ‘Rocket Trials Zone’, as it was then known, was built here, an area that has been further developed and extended to become the world famous Space Station that it is today. Trinidad is full of palaces built by the sugar barons, while Santa Clara is the town of the legendary revolutionary, Che Guevara. Guama shows us an Indian village and a crocodile farm, Varadero offers white, sandy beaches shaded by large palm trees and luxury hotels. In the Tropicana, the band is moving to a heartwarming music. In the famous bars, as the Floridita or the Bodaguita, we can remember Hemingway, and drink from the local rum or the cocktails prepared from it, moreover we can light a good Cuban cigar as well.

I fly by on a jet ski, dangle above the water surface hanging on a parachute, snorkel with fish above shipwrecks and roll around in sand and sea

Travel Movie ARUBA, Caribbean - Visit One Happy Island
Take a look at my travel- and lifestyle blog What About Her. I am a full time travel blogger and I travel the world. I hope to inspire you.
Dutch: http://www.whatabouther.nl
English: http://www.whatabouther.com
Tropical Aruba. I discover this small but pretty island within a few days and that's one big, sunny party. Aruba is a Caribbean island that is known as a pearl in the ocean because of her pearl-white beaches and azure waves, and therefore I find myself mostly above and below the warm water. I fly by on a jet ski, dangle above the water surface hanging on a parachute, snorkel with fish above shipwrecks and roll around in sand and sea. But I also walk unspoiled paths in Arikok National Park, I count countless cacti, I try to steal donkeys and take them in my suitcase, I stumble over boulders on the rugged North Coast and I drink rum in a local rumshop. Aruba breathes sun and beach, but has pristine pieces of nature and secret corners as well, which deserve attention. A fine destination to relax and to take a little Caribbean vibe with you.

The beauty of the nature of Tobago once inspired Daniel Defoe to let his famous castaway Robinson Crusoe land there. The island appeared to the hero as a planted Garden of Eden, and it is still impressive today. The rainforest of Tobago is the oldest virgin rainforest in the western hemisphere.
Arawak people were the first settlers on the island (1st century). Later the Caribs came from South America. The name chistopher columbus gave the island in 1498 was Bellaforma, later it became the name Tobago from Tobacco, which was growm on the island. Tobago was colnised by the British Empire. Whale hunting was an important part of the local economy. Today there is an agreement with greenpeace to hunt four Humpback whales a year for the own consumption.
Life in Crusoe, the capital of Domenica, is much more hectic. It has the unofficial name “The Nature Island”. Domenica is very mountainous and has a lot of rivers and waterfalls. Chistopher Columbus did not set a food on the island, but gave her its name from “Domingo”, Sunday, Domenica was the last island colonised by the Europeans because of the resistance of the caribs. Herbs are used for healing, the very traditional medical knowledge is transmitted from generation to generation. Canoes are constructed from a single treetrunk,
St Vincent and Domenica have the only Carib reservations in the whole Caribbean. It is here that the descendants of the people who gave the name to the region continued to live. They are the last reminents who long resisted the colonial ambition of the European and never allowed to be enslaved

-------
Caribbean Moments shows a different side to the Caribbean.

Tobago (travel-documentary from the season "Caribbean Moments")
With the colonization different plants come to the island, such as coco plams and sugar cane. Plantations of these plants were driven with the labour force of slaves until the abolishment of slavery in 1833.
The island state Trinidad and Tobago belongs geographycally to South America, because of its nature. At the end of the last ice age melting glaciers caused the sea level to raise turning Trinindad and Tobago into island.
Ian Flemming, the author of the famous James Bond films, wrote some of the James Bond adventures here.
The documentation shows also the different fishing methods of the tobagonians. Some still fish in a very traditional manner by throwing the fishing nets into the sea and pull them back on the beach. The locals sell the fish at the market in Scarborough.
Liming ist the tobagonian art of doing nothing. People get together, drink and play cards. And of course music plays an important role on the village. Every Sunday the village of baku holds its Sunday school, a huge street party featuring bands playing the steelpan.

Cape Town Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Cape Town in South Africa.
Located on the southern edge of Africa and lying at the foot of Table Mountain, the metropolis of Cape Town is certainly one of the world's most beautiful cities, an exciting combination of Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.
In the park-lined Government Avenue and Queen Victoria Street, there's a wonderful collection of well-restored Victorian houses and the Anglican St. Georges Cathedral is where Archbishop Desmond Tutu protested against Apartheid.
Part of the historic harbor is the Victoria And Alfred Waterfront. In 1860, Prince Alfred ordered construction of a new harbor basin, followed by the Victoria Basin that contained two watchtowers. Today, the whole of the old port is an internationally-styled entertainment and shopping complex. The two large water tanks in the harbor's Two Ocean Aquarium contain around 3,000 examples of sea life from the Indian and Atlantic oceans. In the adjoining South African Maritime Museum, there are examples of the city's historic ships, its fishing industry and details on the construction of its outstanding harbor.
Robben Island is situated 11 km off the coast and in the 16th century, the Dutch used it as a prison. During apartheid, political prisoners were incarcerated there. The prison's most famous inmate, Nelson Mandela, spent 18 years of his 28 year sentence on the island. After the closure of the prison in 1997, the South African government opened both the island and its former prison to the public. Thus the face of Robben Island changed from being a place of terror and suppression to one of pilgrimage, a symbol of resistance and also a major tourist attraction!
The Cape of Good Hope is the southernmost tip of Africa and since 1936, this section of the Cape Peninsula has been a nature reserve.
Cape Town and its environs are completely different to the normal expectations of Africa. No desolate bush land reaching to the horizon and no life-threatening wild animals. But it's certainly another remarkable and beautiful dimension to South Africa's magnificent Garden of Eden!

Hawaii Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Hawaii.
The Hawaiian Islands are located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and form the 50th state of the USA. In the south east of the island of O’Ahu, Honolulu is a modern town and the starting point for most journeys. It also contains the Iolani Palace - once the residence of King David Kalakana -a magnificent Victorian structure in the centre of Honolulu and the only royal palace in the United States. In Pearl Harbour, a museum commemorates the events of the seventh of December 1941 when most of the American Pacific fleet was destroyed by the Japanese. The valley of Nuuanu Pali is of great importance in Hawaiian history. It was here that a deciding battle took place, when King Kamehameh came from Maui and triumphantly drove the troops of the chief of Oahu into the mountains, the result of which formed the political union of the Hawaiian Islands. In winter, the world’s best surfers collect on Sunset Beach, attracted by spectacular waves, some of which reach as high as the tallest church steeples. On the island of Kaua’i, the Wailua is Hawaii’s only navigable river and it flows through some of the exciting locations which were used for Jurassic Park, Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Blue Hawaii. Two volcanoes dominate the extraordinary island of Maui, which also features sandy beaches, green pastures, dense jungle and a bleak lunar-like landscape. On Waimea Beach in 1778, the English sea captain, James Cook, was the first European to set foot on Hawaiian territory. The Waimea Canyon was referred to by Mark Twain as ‘The Grand Canyon of the Pacific’, a massive gorge which has been carved out of the volcanic landscape by the Waimea River. From a Victorian style station there is the narrow-gauge Sugar Cane Train which travels through the once prolific sugar plantations of Kaanapali. Haleakale is the world’s largest dormant volcano with a crater as large as Manhattan. But nowhere else in the world can volcanoes be studied as safely as on Big Island in the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park The Hawaiian Islands…priceless pearls in the Pacific Ocean.

Cocos Island Travel Video Guide
The fascinating underwater world that surrounds the legendary Cocos Island is a unique treasure. Its biodiversity and vast populations of marine life have turned it into a paradise for both divers and marine biologists alike. From the small harbour of Puntarenas the journey of the Undersea Hunter and its experienced crew travels more than five hundred kilometres in a southwesterly direction, far away from the economic problems of Costa Rica to an unspoiled and natural world, once the haunt of pirates. The journey from the mainland to the isolated and remote Cocos Island takes a little over thirty hours. In the underwater caves, rocky alcoves and ocean bed around Cocos Island there are huge numbers of Whitetip Sharks. Scientists and marine biologists such as Frenchman, Jacques Cousteau, and Austrian, Hans Hass, developed much interest in the island and travelled to this remote location in the South Pacific to document the beauty of this special place. The plant life beneath the water is like that of an enchanting garden. Both the surroundings of Cocos Island and its marine flora are protected as they form the basis of a unique habitat. Here it is rare to spot only a single fish, so diverse and full of life is the ocean close to the island that began to rise from the bottom of the Pacific around two and a half million years ago as a result of volcanic activity. Due to this exceptional habitat and its fantastic biodiversity it is no wonder that the waters of Cocos Island attract divers from all over the world. Nevertheless, the island and the sea creatures that inhabit its coastal waters have been spared mass tourism. Even though no one has discovered buried treasure each member of the expedition has been made richer by their many wonderful impressions of this wonderful island.
