Year 108 (CVIII) was a leap year starting on Saturday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Trebonius and Bradua (or, less frequently, year 861 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 108 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.
The Dalai Lama is a high lama in the Gelug or "Yellow Hat" branch of Tibetan Buddhism. The name is a combination of the Sino-Mongolian word далай (dalai) meaning "Ocean" and the Tibetan word བླ་མ་ bla-ma (with a silent "b") meaning "chief, high priest".
In religious terms, the Dalai Lama is believed by his devotees to be the rebirth of a long line of tulkus who are considered to be manifestations of the bodhisattva of compassion, Avalokiteśvara. Traditionally, the Dalai Lama is thought of as the latest reincarnation of a series of spiritual leaders who have chosen to be reborn in order to enlighten others. The Dalai Lama is often thought to be the leader of the Gelug School, but this position belongs officially to the Ganden Tripa, which is a temporary position appointed by the Dalai Lama who, in practice, exerts much influence. The line of Dalai Lamas began as a lineage of spiritual teachers; the 5th Dalai Lama assumed political authority over Tibet.
For certain periods between the 17th century and 1959, the Dalai Lamas sometimes directed the Tibetan government, which administered portions of Tibet from Lhasa. The 14th Dalai Lama remained the head of state for the Central Tibetan Administration ("Tibetan government in exile") until his retirement on March 14, 2011. He has indicated that the institution of the Dalai Lama may be abolished in the future, and also that the next Dalai Lama may be found outside Tibet and may be female. The Chinese government was very quick to reject this and claimed that only it has the authority to select the next Dalai Lama.
Time 100 is an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, as assembled by Time. First published in 1999 as a result of a debate among several academics, the list has become an annual event.
The list was started with a debate at a symposium in Washington, D.C., on February 1, 1998, with panel participants CBS news anchor Dan Rather, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, former New York governor Mario Cuomo, then–political science professor Condoleezza Rice, neoconservative publisher Irving Kristol and Time managing editor Walter Isaacson.
The list was first published in 1999, when Time magazine named the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. Based on the popularity of the installment, in 2004 Time magazine decided to make it an annual issue, listing the 100 people most influencing the world. Making the list is frequently mistaken as an honor; however, Time makes it very clear that people are recognized for changing the world, for better or for worse. Those recognized fall in one of five categories: Leaders & Revolutionaries, Builders & Titans, Artists & Entertainers, Scientists & Thinkers, and Heroes & Icons. Within each category, the 20 most influential people (sometimes pairs or small groups) are selected, for a grand total of 100 each year.
You sing about the straight-edge
Why do you think you're a part of that
When you're god, controls your mind
Weak willed - why don't you take control
Cause the meek will inherit nothing
You think you've seen the light
You think you've seen the might
Lost inside a fake
Never wide awake
Open up your eyes
Look and see the lie
What's your greatest fear
Where do you go from here
How much I hate this 108
Turning kids to chanting fools
Hey Ray, why don't you get some self respect
Your religion has got you more fucked up
Than any drug can ever do
I don't hate you just what you do
You think you've seen the light
You think you've seen the might
Lost inside a fake
Never wide awake
Open up your eyes
Look and see the lie
What's your greatest fear
Where do you go from here
You think you've seen the light
You think you've seen the might
Lost inside a fake
Never wide awake
Open up your eyes
Look and see the lie
What's your greatest fear
Verse 1
I got a clever disguise the devil wouldn't even recognise
That's why I got the electric eye
Never ever compromised
I got an ancient pain
I lost my wings and fell back down to Earth
I wouldn't stay in my golden cage
So I gave up everything
Pre-Chorus
What I'm about to say is gonna sound strange
So so so strange
Chorus
My secret lover is 108
I know it sounds insane it's really okay
He's got a face that will haunt you for a billion decades
My secret lover is 108
Verse 2
I got a broken brain
The doctor's saying that I'm overpayed
I'm thinking of someone take the blame
Like that would solve anything
Got a word of advice
Don't ever listen to the old and wise
You know they lie cos they move their mouth
Sharing the wrong and right
Pre-chorus
What I'm about to say is gonna sound strange
So so so strange
Chorus
My secret lover is 108
I know it sounds insane it's really okay
He's got a face that will haunt you for a billion decades
My secret lover is 108
