Geologically, New Guinea is a part of the same tectonic plate as Australia. When world sea levels were low, the two shared shorelines (which now lie 100 to 140 metres below sea level), combining with lands now inundated into the tectonic continent of Sahul, also known as Greater Australia. The two landmasses became separated when the area now known as the Torres Strait flooded after the end of the last glacial period.
Anthropologically it is considered part of Melanesia.[citation needed] Politically, the western half of the island comprises two Indonesian provinces: Papua and West Papua. The eastern half forms the mainland of the country of Papua New Guinea. New Guinea has a population of about 7.5 million who inhabit a land with a hot humid rainy climate. The constantly dripping rain forests cover a high mountain-dominated interior with features rapidly descending to the sea coast. It has a very low population density of only 8 inh/km2.
The term black people is used in some socially-based systems of racial classification for humans of a dark-skinnedphenotype, relative to other racial groups represented in a particular social context. Different societies apply different criteria regarding who is classified as "black", and often social variables such as class and socio-economic status also play a role, so that relatively dark-skinned people can be classified as white if they fulfill other social criteria of "whiteness" and relatively light-skinned people can be classified as black if they fulfill the social criteria for "blackness" in a particular setting.
As a biological phenotype being "black" is often associated with the very dark skin colors of some people who are classified as "black". But, particularly in the United States, the racial or ethnic classification also refers to people with all possible kinds of skin pigmentation from the darkest through to the very lightest skin colors, including albinos, if they are believed by others to have African ancestry, or to exhibit cultural traits associated with being "African-American". As a result, in the United States the term "black people" is not an indicator of skin color but of socially based racial classification.

Much like the last event, the 3rd map has a specific restriction that those ships that participated in the E1 and E2 maps could not participate in this map. That is that it could be thought that this is a completely second fleet coming in from another side pinching off the supply lines. Luckily this event, the map makers actually decided to not put insanity in the first 2 maps to make the choice even harder. But as someone who only (usually) keeps 1 of any ship, it does confound the problem more.

In 1942, the Empire of Japan invaded the Australian-administered territories of the New Guinea Mandate. New Guinea was strategically important because it was a major landmass to the immediate north of Australia. This film shows us the bitter struggle of the Australian and American soldiers to take New Guinea in World War 2.

Netherlands New Guinea (Dutch: Nederlands Nieuw-Guinea) refers to the West Papua region while it was an overseas territory of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from 1949 to 1962. Until 1949 it was a part of the Netherlands Indies. It was commonly known as Dutch New Guinea. It is currently Indonesia's two easternmost provinces, Papua and West Papua (administered as one single unit prior to 2003 under the name Irian Jaya). Nieuw Guinea conflict
The Netherlands retained New Guinea when Indonesia became independent in 1949. The arguments of the Dutch government for this changed repeatedly over time. At any rate the Dutch policy with regard to New Guinea was strongly influenced by the Dutch position towards Indonesia. On the one hand the Netherlands wanted to use New Guinea as a Dutch sphere of influence in the region. On the other hand by developing New Guinea and emancipating the Papuan population the Netherlands wanted to vindicate itself as a responsible colonial power.
Indonesia claimed New Guinea as part of its territory. The dispute over New Guinea was an important factor in the quick decline in bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Indonesia after Indonesian independence. Starting in 1962, under pressure from the international community and under threat of armed conflict with Indonesia, the Netherlands relinquished control and a series of events led to the eventual official annexation of New Guinea in 1969 to Indonesia.

Kancolle Autumn 2014 Event: Western New Guinea Campaign, First Engagement (E-1)
ALSO: Polar Bear Challenge is just a few weeks away!! I'm judge so... get out there and make me work!
---
E-1 第一次渾作戦
This took 4 more sorties than it needed to. Stopped to sparkle my ships for video... and proceeded to get 3 red-cards in a row after basically cake-walking through it the first 3 times... oh well.. such is Kancolle..... time waster, and resource waster....
The Fleet:
1st Fleet:
Lvl 72/73 BBV Yamashiro Kai (getting there to Kai 2... ran out of time)
Lvl 70 BBV Fusou Kai
Lvl 36 CAV Suzuya Kai
Lvl 36 CAV Kumano Kai
Lvl 75 CA Nachi Kai
Lvl 55 CA Kinugasa Kai2
2nd Fleet:
Lvl 70 CL Sendai Kai2
Lvl 80 DD Ushio Kai2 (Brand new upgrade this event)
Lvl 79 DD Hatsuharu Kai (proper destroyers are proper)
Lvl 79/80 DD Yuudachi Kai2 (POI~)
Lvl 78 DD Shigure Kai2 (Is it raining?)
LV 32 CA Kako Kai
Goal: Try to use 2nd rung girls where I can to save for E3... come on DEVs ... no one likes your locking ships out of other maps thing..... okay ... maybe we do a little.... makes you have to really think who to put in the event... but still...
True MVPs:
Yamashiro ---- you show that Destroyer Hime that 100+ Armor is useless~
Ushio ---- I know you want to be dismissed... but look what you can do to a battleship! Even Sendai was a weakling...
Expect 2 (maybe 3) more videos related to this soon. I better beat that E4.... I'll be so disappointed if I can't clear THIS event.

So just for you, I ran it again.... almost the same results... Ushio doing her thing killing Bosses left and right... I'm glad she wants to "help as much as she can".
The Fleet:
Lvl 81 DD Ushio Kai2 (Brand new upgrade this event)
Lvl 79 DD Hatsuharu Kai (proper destroyers are proper)
Lvl 80 DD Yuudachi Kai2 (POI~)
Lvl 79 DD Shigure Kai2 (Is it raining?)
Lvl 79 DD Верный (Formerly Hibiki)
Lvl 71 CL Sendai Kai2
Half the Event Ship drops captured.... 2 more to go.... 2 more maps to go....
Also.. Hatsuharu sure does talk a lot... her lines go well into the next ship or ships lines.. I do love her ..... it is not really an accent... but... formal speech?
.. and love the Thumbnail it let me pick.... Sendai pointing at her handy work. :)

Kancolle Autumn 2014 Event: Western New Guinea Campaign, Third Engagement (E-3)
第三次渾作戦
Much like the last event, the 3rd map has a specific restriction that those ships that participated in the E1 and E2 maps could not participate in this map. That is that it could be thought that this is a completely second fleet coming in from another side pinching off the supply lines. Luckily this event, the map makers actually decided to not put insanity in the first 2 maps to make the choice even harder. But as someone who only (usually) keeps 1 of any ship, it does confound the problem more.
First Fleet:

In 1942, the Empire of Japan invaded the Australian-administered territories of the New Guinea Mandate. New Guinea was strategically important because it was a major landmass to the immediate north of Australia. This film shows us the bitter struggle of the Australian and American soldiers to take New Guinea in World War 2.
Battle for New Guinea | 1942-1945 | Australian & American Soldiers in Action | WW2 Documentary Film
About the New Guinea campaign:
The New Guinea campaign of the Pacific War lasted from January 1942 until the end of the war in August 1945. In the initial phase in 1942, the Empire of Japan invaded the Australian-administered territories of the New Guinea Mandate (23 January) and Papua (8 March) and overran western New Guinea (beginning 29/30 March), which was a part of the Netherlands East Indies. In the second phase, the Allies cleared the Japanese first from Papua, then the Mandate and finally from the Dutch colony.
New Guinea was strategically important because it was a major landmass to the immediate north of Australia. Its large land area provided locations for large land, air and naval bases.
The campaign between Allied and Japanese forces commenced with the Japanese assault on Rabaul on 23 January 1942. Rabaul became the forward base for the Japanese campaigns in mainland New Guinea, including the pivotal Kokoda Track campaign of July 1942 – January 1943, and the Battle of Buna-Gona. Fighting in some parts of New Guinea continued until the war ended in August 1945.
General Douglas MacArthur as Supreme Commander in the South West Pacific Area, led the Allied forces. The Japanese 8th Area Army, under General Hitoshi Imamura, was responsible for both the New Guinea and Solomon Islands campaigns. The Japanese 18th Army, under Lieutenant General Hatazo Adachi, was responsible for Japanese operations on mainland New Guinea.
Liberating New Guinea:
After bombing the Australian harbour of Darwin in 1942, the Japanese move their headquarters to Buna on the north coast of what is now Papua New Guinea and the headquarters of the Allies is set up in Port Moresby on the other side. These towns are divided by the steep Owen Stanley mountain range. The two towns are connected by the Kokoda track across the mountains. Australian troops successfully defend Port Moresby along this trail, when the Japanese try to invade from the north coast. To get the advantage, the Australian carved out 4000 steps into the mountain side.
The American army lands on New Guinea in January 1943 and starts a major attack. However, it takes up until 1944 before the Americans can advance along the northern coast of New Guinea from Hollandia to Biak and Manokwari and on to the North Moluccas (Morotai) from where they attack the Philippines in October 1944. In order to recapture New Guinea, the Allied Forces need to drive the Japanese off along 2000 km of fortified coast line. During this battle 13000 Japanese soldiers die and on the Australian and American side there are respectively 2100 and 2000 casualties.

The current Ebola outbreak in West Africa began in Guinea in December 2013. From there, it quickly spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone. Today, Liberia is at the center of the epidemic, with more than 3,000 cases of infection. About half of them have been fatal.

Its large land area provided locations for large land, air and naval bases.[citation needed]
MacArthur was based in Melbourne, Brisbane and Manila. The Japanese 8th Area Army, under General Hitoshi Imamura, was responsible for both the New Guinea and Solomon Islands campaigns. Imamura was based at Rabaul. The Japanese 18th Army, under Lieutenant General Hatazō Adachi, was responsible for Japanese operations on mainland New Guinea.

Jean-Pierre Dutilleux Stated; "If the Toulambis are actors, we should give them a César Award."
The Toulambi
In the XXI century the team of Jean-Pierre Dutilleaux explorer and ethnographer had the privilege to contact in 1998, after many obstacles, with Los Toulambis a tribe that had never seen a white man, or had been involved with the outside world.
Jean-Pierre Dutilleux was born in Malmedy, Belgium is director, anthropologist, explorer and defender of Indian rights
In 1973 he made his first contact with the hostile tribe Txuccaramaes (those who hit with sticks strokes) of the Kayapo, the savage heart of Matto Grosso, there almost lost his life in the hands of the tribe, the chief Raoni saved his life .
Since then, Jean Pierre was dedicated to saving the territory of this tribe, of government of that country, making a world tour with the chief Raoni where senior leaders received, the nobility and Pope John Paul II
Raoni's message was "My name is Raoni, I am the chief of the Kayapo. People are destroying the forest, are wiping out wildlife, fatally wounding my people, killing the Earth. Help me, before it is too late! "
Dutellieux visited the most remote places in search of primitive tribes, such as the Toulambis living in the Stone Age and are being decimated by logging of their forests, and diseases like malaria.
Toulambi 1976 contact: fact or fable - BY PETER KRANZ
EXTRACTS FROM BELGIAN filmmaker Jean Pierre Dutilleux's first contact with a tribal people known as the Toulamis have recently been posted on Youtube.
This claimed first contact was said to have been as recently as 1976 and the extracts can be seen here and here.
The footage is moving and poetic and appears to be authentic. More information about Dutilleux's films can be found on his website here.
His film was first aired on French TV in the mid1990's. Perhaps because it has not been widely shown to English-speaking audiences, it has aroused keen interest and many favourable comments since its recent Youtube posting.
This controversial film also has been the subject of much scholarly debate in the Francophone world, and even threats of legal action.
It was severely criticised by French anthropologist and PNG specialist Pierre Lemonnier in his academic paper A la chasse à l'authentique (In pursuit of the real thing) published by Terrain, the European ethnological review in 1999, which is available here.
In this paper, Lemonnier points out that the Toulambis of the film are really the Ankave-Anga people from near Menyamya. The records indicate that these people were visited by at least six Australian government patrols between 1929 and 1972: 1929 Middleton; 1950 Chester, 1951 Mathieson; 1965 O'Brien; 1967 Police patrols; 1972 Meikle.
In fact Meikle found the people talking basic Tok Pisin learned at Menyamya.
Historical sources reveal that the so-called Toulambis had steel tools and western implements more than 40 years before their encounter with Dutilleux, and were regular visitors to the administrative center of Menyamya the early 1970's - which was only a few days walk for them.
This familiarity with the outside world is confirmed by ethnography, and in particular one Toulambi man spent two months in prison in Menyamya in the early '70's. Admittedly some remote groups may not have had regularly contact with the Australian administration before the 1960's, but they certainly did by the time Dutilleux encountered them.
When Lemonnier viewed the film for the first time he exclaimed: "I'm outraged!" He described the Dutilleux production as "untruthful, racist, revolting". Apparently Lemonnier recognised immediately the place where the fake "first encounter" had been filmed. The stream is known as New Year Creek, and the members of the "unknown tribe" probably walked for about a day from their settlement to reach the appointed well-lit meeting-place.
This had been conveniently cleared for the filming, with a few logs thrown into the creek so that the people could emerge confidently from the jungle (most unusual behaviour) and move naively towards the camera crew.
Lemonnier adds: "At that spot, they were about a four-day walk from an administrative centre with a schoolteacher, airstrip, radio, nurse and Seventh-Day Adventist preachers. Nearby, the navigable river Vailala enables the Papuans to reach the coast, where they exchange bark capes for tools."
For his criticism, Lemonnier faced a court case for slander in 1997, but the historical records support his case.
So how was the film made? Simple - the locals were paid for their performance and rehearsed in how to act their parts. In fact they were enterprising enough to have done this for several other 'first-contact' filmmakers before and after Dutilleux.
Interestingly, Jean-Pierre Dutilleux is also cited in the article, defending himself that:
"If the Toulambis are actors, we should give them a César Award."

The current Ebola outbreak in West Africa began in Guinea in December 2013. From there, it quickly spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone. Cases also appeared in Senegal and Nigeria, and there was another outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Today, Liberia is at the center of the epidemic, with more than 3,000 cases of infection. About half of them have been fatal.
As President Barack Obama announced that he would be sending American military personnel to West Africa to help combat the epidemic, VICE News traveled to Monrovia to spend time with those on the front lines of the outbreak.

The appeal of New Guinea's art lies in the people's extraordinary resourcefulness and creativity. For centuries, they have made objects in order to communicate with the spirit world. Many pieces, based on myths and ancient religious themes, stand comparison with the world's great sculptural masterpieces. Some were made in response to health, fertility or rites of passage; others signified individual stature in a village, invoked the end of a mourning ritual, or warded off evil and sickness. Everyday objects were just as carefully crafted, including house posts, dishes, canoes or

This terrific tour of Papua, New Guinea and Kalabahai, Indonesia, disrespectfully subtitled "Weird Haunts of Strange People" dates to 1933. It includes footage shot in Port Moresby. It was made by James A. Fitzpatrick whose "Travel Talks" series was a mainstay of the newsreel era. This particular print was intended for home use by a family who owned a movie projector.
The film spends quite a bit of time in the narration discussing the fact that the Papuan People are "cannibals" and stating that the Papuan women far outnumber the men as a result. These and other objectionable statements are likely false but -- you be the judge.

Coffee production in Papua New Guinea accounts for approximately 1% of world production according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). After oil palm, coffee is Papua New Guinea's second largest agricultural export, employing approximately 2.5 million people.[citation needed]
Coffee is the highest foreign exchange earner for Papua New Guinea, the majority of which is grown in the Eastern Highland Province, the Western Highland Province, and Simbu. With the industry not derived on a colonial plantation-based system, production is largely by small farmers with land holdings that grow as little as 20 trees per plo

Shortly after World War II, as Western missionaries began to penetrate the deep jungles and remote islands of Papua New Guinea, stories of a flying creature called the Ropen ("demon flyer") began to be reported. Duane Hodgkinson was stationed northwest of Lae, near Finschaven, PNG as part of the Army cavalry in 1944. About noon one day in August he was walking down a trail through a clearing in the forest when he was startled by a crashing in the brush. As he watched a large bird-like creature ponderously rose from the ground, circled and flew away. Hodgkinson, a pilot, estimated the wing-span to be about 20 ft. RopenHe clearly recalls the dark-gray coloration, long serpentine neck, beak, and distinctive head crest. Described as a nocturnal creature, the Ropen possesses two leathery wings like a bat, a long tail with a flange on the end, a beak filled with teeth, and razor-sharp claws. An intriguing sea chart dated 1595 warns mariners to beware of a variety of "sea monsters." It depicts two flying creatures with a long necks, headcrests, ribbed wings and fantastical tails (split on the end like a flipper) flying above the islands of New Guinea. One is even shown as having dermal bumps.

New Guinea Art: Masterpieces of the Jolika Collection | Free Download
Download Here: http://tinyurl.com/lzn9qwd
The appeal of New Guinea's art lies in the people's extraordinary resourcefulness and creativity. For centuries, they have made objects in order to communicate with the spirit world. Many pieces, based on myths and ancient religious themes, stand comparison with the world's great sculptural masterpieces. Some were made in response to health, fertility or rites of passage; others signified individual stature in a village, invoked the end of a mourning ritual, or warded off evil and sickness. Everyday objects were just as carefully crafted, including house posts, dishes, canoes or shields. The range of media reflects the natural resources available to the New Guinean: shell, rock, feathers, bone, wood, bark, cloth, sago-leaf, nuts and seeds, human hair, and brilliant colours from natural pigments. Although these objects were never intended to last beyond their immediate function, they have in fact survived for hundreds, sometimes thousands, of years. The arts of New Guinea have been little known to Western audiences for centuries, partly for geographical reasons. New Guinea is a remote island the size of France and Italy combined, just east of Indonesia and north of Australia in the South Pacific. The terrain is mountainous with coastal lowlands, and the climate is aggressively humid and prone to monsoon rains. Almost a thousand languages are spoken on the island, and it is home to a variety of distinct cultures and art styles. This elegantly presented two-volume publication depicts the art of New Guinea in richer detail than ever before. It is a detailed and broad-based survey, drawn from the Jolika Collection of John and Marcia Friede - the world's foremost private collection. Volume I contains the lavish selection of magnificent colour plates. Volume II features three essays by noted scholars and an extensive, illustrated catalogue section by John Friede. Publication will coincide with the reopening in autumn 2005 of the newly renovated de Young Museum in San Francisco, an institution with a strong commitment to the arts of the South Pacific. With John and Marcia Friede's generous gift of the collection, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco will become the United State's leading centre for the study and preservation of New Guinea's art.

Tectonic Summary
Seismotectonics of the New Guinea Region and Vicinity
The Australia-Pacific plate boundary is over 4000 km long on the northern margin, from the Sunda (Java) trench in the west to the Solomon Islands in the east. The eastern section is over 2300 km long, extending west from northeast of the Australian continent and the Coral Sea until it intersects the east coast of Papua New Guinea. The boundary is dominated by the general northward subduction of the Australia plate.
Along the South Solomon trench, the Australia plate converges with the Pacific plate at a rate of approximately 95 mm/yr towards the east-northeast. Seismicity along the trench is dominantly related to subduction tectonics and large earthquakes are common: there have been 13 M7.5+ earthquakes recorded since 1900. On April 1, 2007, a M8.1 interplate megathrust earthquake occurred at the western end of the trench, generating a tsunami and killing at least 40 people. This was the third M8.1 megathrust event associated with this subduction zone in the past century; the other two occurred in 1939 and 1977.
Further east at the New Britain trench, the relative motions of several microplates surrounding the Australia-Pacific boundary, including north-south oriented seafloor spreading in the Woodlark Basin south of the Solomon Islands, maintain the general northward subduction of Australia-affiliated lithosphere beneath Pacific-affiliated lithosphere. Most of the large and great earthquakes east of New Guinea are related to this subduction; such earthquakes are particularly concentrated at the cusp of the trench south of New Ireland. 33 M7.5+ earthquakes have been recorded since 1900, including three shallow thrust fault M8.1 events in 1906, 1919, and 2007.
The western end of the Australia-Pacific plate boundary is perhaps the most complex portion of this boundary, extending 2000 km from Indonesia and the Banda Sea to eastern New Guinea. The boundary is dominantly convergent along an arc-continent collision segment spanning the width of New Guinea, but the regions near the edges of the impinging Australia continental margin also include relatively short segments of extensional, strike-slip and convergent deformation. The dominant convergence is accommodated by shortening and uplift across a 250-350 km-wide band of northern New Guinea, as well as by slow southward-verging subduction of the Pacific plate north of New Guinea at the New Guinea trench. Here, the Australia-Pacific plate relative velocity is approximately 110 mm/yr towards the northeast, leading to the 2-8 mm/yr uplift of the New Guinea Highlands.
Whereas the northern band of deformation is relatively diffuse east of the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border, in western New Guinea there are at least two small (100,000 km²) blocks of relatively undeformed lithosphere. The westernmost of these is the Birds Head Peninsula microplate in Indonesia's West Papua province, bounded on the south by the Seram trench. The Seram trench was originally interpreted as an extreme bend in the Sunda subduction zone, but is now thought to represent a southward-verging subduction zone between Birds Head and the Banda Sea.
There have been 22 M7.5+ earthquakes recorded in the New Guinea region since 1900. The dominant earthquake mechanisms are thrust and strike slip, associated with the arc-continent collision and the relative motions between numerous local microplates. The largest earthquake in the region was a M8.2 shallow thrust fault event in the northern Papua province of Indonesia that killed 166 people in 1996.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA & KALABAHI INDONESIA 1933 TRAVELOGUE 72052e
Kalabahi is a town on Alor Island and it is the capital of Alor Regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. Papua is the largest and easternmost province of Indonesia. It lies in West Papua region, which comprises the Indonesian, western, half of the island of New Guinea and nearby islands. Papua is bordered by the nation of Papua New Guinea to the east, and by West Papua province to the west. Its capital is Jayapura. It was formerly called Irian Jaya (before that West Irian or Irian Barat) and comprised all of Indonesian New Guinea. in 2002 the current name was adopted and in 2003 West Papua province was created within West Papua region from western parts of Papua province.
Port Moresby is the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea (PNG). It is located on the shores of the Gulf of Papua, on the southeastern coast of the Papuan Peninsula of the island of New Guinea. The city emerged as a trade centre in second half of the 19th century. During World War II it was a prime objective for conquest by the Imperial Japanese forces during 1942–43 as a staging point and air base to cut off Australia from Southeast Asia and the Americas.

6 8 EARTHQUAKE IN WESTERN PACIFIC PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Coffee production in Papua New Guinea accounts for approximately 1% of world production according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). After oil palm, coffee is Papua New Guinea's second largest agricultural export, employing approximately 2.5 million people.[citation needed]
Coffee is the highest foreign exchange earner for Papua New Guinea, the majority of which is grown in the Eastern Highland Province, the Western Highland Province, and Simbu. With the industry not derived on a colonial plantation-based system, production is largely by small farmers with land holdings that grow as little as 20 trees per plot in “coffee gardens” alongside subsistence crops. Predominantly in isolated places, the product is mostly certified as “organic coffee.”

The Dutch New Guinea Dispute 1949-1962

This took 4 more sorties than it needed to. Stopped to sparkle my ships for video... and proceeded to get 3 red-cards in a row after basically cake-walking through it the first 3 times... oh well.. such is Kancolle..... time waster, and resource waster....
The Fleet:
1st Fleet:
Lvl 72/73 BBV Yamashiro Kai (getting there to Kai 2... ran out of time)
Lvl 70 BBV Fusou Kai
Lvl 36 CAV Suzuya Kai
Lvl 36 CAV Kumano Kai
Lvl 75 CA Nachi Kai
Lvl 55 CA Kinugasa Kai2
2nd Fleet:

第三次渾作戦
Much like the last event, the 3rd map has a specific restriction that those ships that participated in the E1 and E2 maps could not participate in this map. That is that it could be thought that this is a completely second fleet coming in from another side pinching off the supply lines. Luckily this event, the map makers actually decided to not put insanity in the first 2 maps to make the choice even harder. But as someone who only (usually) keeps 1 of any ship, it does confound the problem more.

Man vs. Wild, also called Born Survivor: Bear Grylls, Ultimate Survival, Survival Game, or colloquially as simply Bear Grylls in the United Kingdom, is a survival television series hosted by Bear Grylls on the Discovery Channel. In the United Kingdom, the series was originally shown on Channel 4, but later series were broadcast on Discovery Channel UK. The series was produced by British television production company Diverse Bristol. The show was first broadcast on 10 November 2006 after airing a pilot episode titled "The Rockies" on 10 March 2006.
In a special first aired on 2 June 2009, Will Ferrell joined Grylls on a survival trip to Northern Sweden. Grylls also said he has been approached about doing a Man vs. Wild urban disaster 3-D feature film, an idea he said he would "really like to do." Ben Stiller also signed on for an episode later in the year. Grylls signed on to showcase urban survival techniques in a new Discovery show called Worst-Case Scenario, which premiered on 5 May 2010 on the network. In March 2012, Discovery Channel terminated its contract with Grylls due to contract disputes, effectively cancelling the series.

Battle For New Guinea - World War II
Battle For New Guinea - World War II
Its large land area provided locations for large land, air and naval bases.[citation needed]

The Demon Flyer Creature of Papua New Guinea
The Demon Flyer Creature of Papua New Guinea

5/23/2015 --West Coast Earthquake Unrest + East coast movement -- Global Events Update
Major seismic unrest is currently showing in multiple areas including the West coast of the United States.
The past 24-48 hours (up to 200am CDT May 23, 2015) has seen a serious uptick in earthquake unrest, including several rare areas which don't normally see noteworthy movement, such as the M4.0 which struck South England (along the English channel), or the 5.4 magnitude earthquake which struck near Las Vegas Nevada.
Also, a large borderline 7.0M struck near Papua New Guinea, as well as additional movement across the Philippines, South Japan, and the coast of China.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA & KALABAHI INDONESIA 1933 TRAVELOGUE 72052e
