Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist, is on the other side of the gate. He has befriended someone who resembles his brother, Al, and has met a gypsy resembling Rose. He finds out that the Germans are planning on opening the gate, and attack the other side, which is Ed and Al's home. Although Al has learned a lot, he cannot stop all of them, and Ed cannot use Alchemy while in the other side. Ed tries to stop them, and Al just tries to be able to talk to his brother again, who everyone else thinks is gone.

They are thrilled to present their newly composed score to Fritz Lang's classic silent film Metropolis. They perform the score live, accompanied by vocalist Astrid Pill & cellist Zoe Barry. The original score was conceived, composed & recorded over a 12-month period & had its world premiere at the 2005 Adelaide Film Festival. The Metropolis Re-Score ran a successful season as part Next Wave Festival at ACMI in Melbourne for the Commonwealth Games & was performed at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival in 2006. Maschere e pugnali (Cloak and Dagger) è un film del 1946 diretto da Fritz Lang. Trama: L'azione si svolge durante la Seconda Guerra mondiale. In un ristorante basco un ferroviere e il suo collega stanno trasmettendo un messaggio in Inghilterra su carichi di pechblenda inviati dalla Cecoslovacchia alla Germania. Improvvisamente fanno irruzione membri della Gestapo e i due vengono uccisi. Il messaggio è intercettato a Washington. Un professore di fisica nucleare della Midwestern University, Alvah Jasper, è contattato dall’Office of Strategic Services, i servizi segreti di Washington, la cui attività di spionaggio è denominata “Maschere e pugnali”. C'è necessità di raccogliere informazioni sulle ricerche del Terzo Reich sull’energia nucleare. I nazisti stanno lavorando sulla bomba atomica, ma a che punto sono arrivati esattamente? Un inviato chiede al professore di accettare la pericolosa missione e di trasformarsi in agente segreto. Jasper accetta e vola in Europa, in Svizzera, ad incontrare la dottoressa Katerin Loder, una celebre fisica ungherese, che si è rifugiata in questo paese sperando di sfuggire ai nazisti. Ma essi la tengono in pugno, minacciandola di uccidere ogni giorno dieci innocenti prigionieri, se non collabora. Dopo l’incontro fra i due, la Gestapo la fa sparire. Jasper riesce a conoscere il nascondiglio dove l’hanno portata da un'americana affascinante, che viaggia con cagnolino e alloggia nel suo stesso hotel, Ann Dawson. In realtà è anch’essa una spia nazista. I liberatori della dottoressa arrivano troppo tardi: l’infermiera a guardia della prigioniera si accorge di essere stata scoperta e, prima di fuggire, uccide la donna. A questo punto non resta a Jasper che tentare di prendere contatto con uno scienziato italiano, il dottor Polda, in passato collaboratore della Loder, noto per le sue idee democratiche e ora inspiegabilmente a servizio dei fascisti . In Italia Jasper viene affidato a un gruppo di partigiani, fra i quali c’è anche una coraggiosa ragazza, la bella Gina. Nell’incontro con il professor Giovanni Polda, Jasper apprende che anch’egli è sotto ricatto: i fascisti hanno nelle loro mani sua figlia Maria e la uccideranno se lui non lavora per loro; è continuamente sorvegliato da un agente dell'OVRA, Luigi. I partigiani tentano di liberare la figlia di Polda, tenuta segregata in un albergo di Perugia, da cui invia al padre ogni settimana una cartolina che ne prova l’esistenza in vita. Jesper nell’attesa è ospite di Gina e, conoscendola, impara a stimarla e se ne innamora. Tutto pare pronto per la liberazione della figlia di Polda, il loro ricongiungimento e la partenza per gli Stati Uniti. Purtroppo tragici imprevisti modificano il finale della vicenda: riusciranno a partire soltanto il vecchio professore e Jasper. Gina resta in Italia a continuare la lotta per la resistenza. Jasper promette che tornerà a guerra finita. La donna del ritratto (The Woman in the Window) è un film del 1944 diretto da Fritz Lang. Trama: Il mite professore di criminologia Richard Wanley, nel recarsi al club per una serata con gli amici, vede in una vetrina il ritratto di una stupenda donna dalla quale rimane incredibilmente colpito. Finita la serata torna a casa, dopo una lettura esce nuovamente e si ferma a contemplare il ritratto. Inaspettatamente, una passante gli rivolge la parola ed egli si accorge che si tratta della stessa donna del ritratto, Alice. Questa inizia a conversare con Wanley e lo invita a casa propria. L'amante della donna, un ricco uomo d'affari, si presenta improvvisamente alla porta e, adirato, si getta contro Wanley, il quale riesce a uccidere l'aggressore. Wanley vorrebbe chiamare immediatamente la polizia e denunciare l'accaduto, ma viene convinto a tacere l'accaduto. Presa l'auto, si reca fuori città e si libera del cadavere gettandolo in un bosco. Il cadavere viene ritrovato da un boy scout e iniziano le indagini. Wanley ha lasciato molte tracce dietro di sé. L'indagine viene affidata al procuratore Frank Laior, il quale è uno degli amici che avevano trascorso la serata con Wanley al club. Laior insiste perché Wanley lo accompagni a effettuare un sopralluogo nella zona dove è stato ritrovato il cadavere. Nel frattempo Heidt, il quale stava pedinando l'uomo ucciso, si presenta da Alice e la ricatta, minacciando di rivelare quanto accaduto. Alice e Wanley decidono di liberarsi anche di Heidt, ma il tentativo non riesce. Il cerchio si chiude su Wanley, il quale non sembra avere più alcuna via di scampo. L'uomo si gira e se ne va, lasciandola sola. Metropolis est un film expressionniste de science-fiction allemand produit pendant la courte période de la République de Weimar. Réalisé en 1927 par le réalisateur autrichien Fritz Lang, le film est muet et en noir et blanc. Le scénario est écrit par Lang et sa femme, Thea von Harbou avec comme acteurs Brigitte Helm, Gustav Fröhlich, Alfred Abel et Rudolf Klein-Rogge. Le film est produit dans les Studios Babelsberg par UFA (Universum-Film AG). Le film se décompose en trois actes Auftakt (commencement) (66 min.), Zwischenspiel (interlude) (28 min.) et Furioso (52 min.). En 2026, Metropolis est une mégapole dans une société dystopique divisée en une ville haute, où vivent les familles intellectuelles dirigeantes, dans l'oisiveté, le luxe et le divertissement, et une ville basse, où les travailleurs font fonctionner la ville et sont opprimés par la classe dirigeante. Maria (Brigitte Helm), une femme de la ville basse, essaie de promouvoir l'entente entre les classes, et emmène clandestinement des enfants d'ouvriers visiter la ville haute ; le groupe se fait repousser par les forces de l'ordre, mais Freder Fredersen (Gustav Fröhlich), le fils du dirigeant de Metropolis, tombe amoureux d'elle. En descendant dans la ville basse pour la retrouver, il voit un ouvrier épuisé défaillir à son poste de travail, le rythme imposé par les machines étant trop élevé, une violente explosion se produit sur la « machine M », tuant des dizaines de travailleurs. Dans la fumée, Freder voit la machine M se transformer en Moloch, une divinité monstrueuse à laquelle les travailleurs infortunés sont sacrifiés. Freder se rend chez son père, Johhan « Joh » Fredersen (Alfred Abel), pour le mettre au courant des conditions extrêmement pénibles dans lesquelles travaillent les ouvriers et lui demande d'améliorer cela. Voyant qu'il ne peut convaincre son fils des bienfaits de cette société ségrégative, Johhan le fait suivre par un espion. Timbre commémoratif allemand de 1995 Freder retourne dans la ville basse où, voyant un ouvrier au bord de l'épuisement, il persuade celui-ci d'échanger leurs vêtements et de le remplacer à la machine, tandis que l'ouvrier, Georgy, matricule 11811, monte à la ville haute où il goûtera aux plaisirs de la vie. Après une pénible journée de travail, Freder se rend dans des catacombes à une réunion secrète en suivant un plan trouvé dans une poche des vêtements de l'ouvrier qu'il a remplacé. Là, il découvre Maria en train de s'adresser aux ouvriers et d'annoncer l'arrivée d'un médiateur qui apportera l'égalité entre les habitants des villes haute et basse. Entre-temps, Joh reçoit des plans trouvés dans les poches d'ouvriers morts au travail et se rend chez Rotwang, l'inventeur du monstre mécanique qui fait fonctionner toute la ville. Celui-ci lui indique qu'il s'agit du plan qui mène aux catacombes où se tient la réunion secrète. Joh épie la réunion sans reconnaître son fils parmi la foule. Craignant la menace, Joh ordonne à Rotwang de façonner un robot à l'image de Maria afin de semer le chaos parmi les ouvriers. Al risveglio, fugge dall'appartamento, con un gran mal di testa e senza altri ricordi che non la vaga immagine di un attizzatoio e di uno specchio infranto. Quando il giorno successivo il giornale locale esce con la notizia della morte violenta di Harry, la giovane telefonista non ha dubbi sulla propria colpevolezza. Mentre il giornalista Casey Mayo, cavalca, senza scrupoli, la notizia, montando ad arte il caso dalle colonne del "Daily Chronicle", Norah cerca di eliminare le tracce che possano, in qualche modo, portare a lei. Ma i suoi maldestri tentativi producono il solo effetto di tradirla di fronte alle amiche. In preda al rimorso, e contando sull'onestà di Mayo, decide di raccontargli la sua verità, ma la polizia è in agguato e la arresta. Fortunatamente, alcuni particolari della confessione della giovane - in particolare quelli relativi alla musica ascoltata quella sera: una melodia di Nat King Cole, intitolata "Gardenia Blu" e non la versione del Tristano e Isotta di Richard Wagner che era stata trovata sul piatto del giradischi - inducono il giornalista a seguire un'altra pista che lo porterà ad individuare l'omicida in una delle tante donne sedotte ed ingannate dal pittore. (CNN)Maybe I'm the only one in America, but I've had it with the constant media coverage and hypocrisy related to Donald Trump. Let me begin by saying I find his recent comments about Mexicans to be hateful, racist, offensive and ignorant. I commend the individuals, organizations and corporations that have denounced him and cut ties with him. But I do have one question. What took you so long? ... Until now, not Trump ... Really? ...
