Point of Rocks is an unincorporated community in Frederick County, Maryland. It is named for the striking rock formation on the adjacent Catoctin Mountain, which were formed by the Potomac River cutting through the ridge in a water gap, a typical formation in the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians. The formation is not visible from the town and can only be seen from boats on the river, or from the southern bank of the river in Virginia. In 1828, the narrow passage between the rocks at this site provoked a violent legal battle between the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O;) Canal Company and the B&O; Railroad over who could have control of the narrow pass.[1] After years of disputes, both companies finally compromised and allowed both canal and railroad to build on the right-of-way through the passage,[1] with a wall between the two to avoid trains scaring the mules that pulled the canal boats.
During the American Civil War, the town was often raided by Confederate partisans, such as John S. Mosby, Elijah V. White and John Mobberly, operating in Loudoun County, Virginia. The presence of the B&O; railroad and C&O; canal along with many exiled Unionists from Loudoun made the town such an attractive target.

LeonardSipes.Com provides award-winning media relations services and records both audio and video histories at MyLifeAudio.Com.
The Aurora Project, located in the Allegheny Mountains in West Virginia, provides the opportunity for artists and scholars from across the country and around the world to live and work in an environment supportive of the creative process.
Situated in a rural community surrounded by high plateau farmland and forested hills, the restored historic buildings that comprise the Aurora Project were once part of a 19th Century mountain resort. Converted into private studios and lodging, the buildings, some on site and others within two miles, are across a rural, two-lane road from Cathedral State Park, a protected old growth forest.
It is within this distinct natural setting and rich history that artists and scholars are afforded undisturbed time and space for the exploration and exchange of new ideas or the advancement of works in progress, to be responsible only to themselves and their work. It is also within this environment that the Aurora Project’s Education Program and Community Partnership strive to encourage and sustain an appreciation and understanding of the importance of the arts, humanities and the environment. Full time residencies will begin in 2015.

Days 5 and 6 of vacation were spent in the Southern part of Pennsylvania in the Allegheny Mountains along the CSX Sand Patch Grade. Over the course of Wednesday afternoon and most of Thursday, we racked up a good amount of trains. CSX had a good display of EMD and GE Power. As a side note. CSX was doing track work on one of the crossovers in Hyndman, PA. So, many trains going East had to hold for a while in certain spots so traffic could clear up. There were also a few trains that we missed because we were moving or I wasn't ready with the camera yet(I have two cell phone videos that will probably make it on here eventually) Another train that is not included here will be featured in a separate video(should be up later this evening) So with that being said. Enjoy all of the mountain grades that CSX had to navigate on the ole Sand Patch.

On this Columbus Day weekend we did a two day 20 mile backpack in the Cranberry River area in the Allegheny Mountains. Oct 9th to 11th, 2015. This isn't the Wilderness proper but nearby on Kennisson Mt and along the river itself.
This video is unedited to save a lot of time and effort. I just put all the segments together with a single drag & drop.

In this tutorial I walk through a method of manual image alignment on stacked astrophotography exposures for when Adobe Photoshop's Auto-Align Layers function fails. This particular tutorial uses Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop CC or CS6 Extended.
This video is a response to many of the questions that I have received in the comments of my original landscape astrophotography image stacking video shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rydg7JGTAbw
The photos used in this demo were made on the Sony RX100III point and shoot from the Allegheny Mountains in West Virginia.
Many thanks to Josh Woodward and his amazing Creative Commons music library:
