In phonology, an allophone ( /ˈæləfoʊn/; from the Greek: ἄλλος, állos, "other" and φωνή, phōnē, "voice, sound") is one of a set of multiple possible spoken sounds (or phones) used to pronounce a single phoneme. For example, [pʰ] (as in pin) and [p] (as in spin) are allophones for the phoneme /p/ in the English language. Although a phoneme's allophones are all alternative pronunciations for a phoneme, the specific allophone selected in a given situation is often predictable. Changing the allophone used by native speakers for a given phoneme in a specific context usually will not change the meaning of a word but the result may sound non-native or unintelligible. Native speakers of a given language usually perceive one phoneme in their language as a single distinctive sound in that language and are "both unaware of and even shocked by" the allophone variations used to pronounce single phonemes.
Every time a speech sound is produced for a given phoneme, it will be slightly different from other utterances, even for the same speaker. This has led to some debate over how real, and how universal, phonemes really are (see phoneme for details). Only some of the variation is significant (i.e., detectable or perceivable) to speakers. There are two types of allophones, based on whether a phoneme must be pronounced using a specific allophone in a specific situation, or whether the speaker has freedom to (unconsciously) choose which allophone he or she will use.
I remember when I used to feel I was in control
"Man on top of world. man on top of world"
Everywhere I went people said that we'd last a whole lifetime as a whole going down that road.
All the time we spent together deep inside I thought I'd know if there was a problem that it would show
Proven evident that love is blind sight would come and go once my eyes had opened I was alone.
Will I ever be without you, able to see without you the life that we'd both planned through where did it all go wrong?
Hours feel like days, food don't taste like it did before
Brave face feels so false am I fine? yes of course.
Really cannot wait for this ache triggered by a thought to stay dormant or I find a cure
That would be amazing cause all this waiting pacing back and forth I just feel exhausted.
Highs and the lows take their toll on my heart and my soul wishing I weren't alone.
I don't believe that I'm going down
If I could forsee a way of coping now
I'd wear my heart on my sleeve and if I saw you I'd punch your lights out!
It dawned on me
That basically
They have put a price on everything.
In a world of greed
And exploiting needs
Some are cashing in, while others bleed.
If I sung out of tune would it sell now?
If I sung out of tune would it sell?
The relevance of the question's unclear now
The big picture's as scary as hell.
It's do or die to survive
In this day and age to stay alive.
When the top boys fight
One's left one's right
The streets become a stage
Actor am I?
If I sung out of tune would it sell now?
If I sung out of tune would it sell?
Focus on the small things and then you fail
To see that we're not doing so well.
Am I alone here
Or am I the only one who sees in different tones?
Somehow we've all adhered
To believe in everything that we are shown.
One mans views today makes
Front page news tomorrow
Injecting doubt to talk about.
It'd be no surprise
If this world was designed
You're a friend of mine through and through
Where have you been?
Sometimes you hide above the blue and silver linen.
You take my hopes and turn them into achievable goals
All things look great when they're bathed in those rays of gold.
So don't ever have doubt that I will be that I'll ever be without you or moving on my own.
They all know that the Sun and I can be an unstoppable force an emotional course that takes life on.
Like a promise made, a date that's kept to a plane ride high.
If you're up above on that day you become the reason why.
Short skirts ice-cream and smiles and music that fills the air
Everyone's on the vibe like they're all just millionaires.
