World news or international news or even foreign coverage is the news media-jargon for news from abroad, about a foreign country or a global subject. For journalism, it is a branch that deals with news either sent by foreign correspondents or news agencies, or — more recently — information that is gathered or researched through distance communication technologies, such as telephone, satellite TV or the internet.
Although in most of the Anglophone world this field is not usually regarded as a specific specialization for journalists, it is so in nearly all the world. Particularly in the United States, there is a blurred distinction between world news and "national" news when they include directly the national government or national institutions, such as wars in which the US are involved or summits of multilateral organizations in which the US are a member.
Actually, at the birth of modern journalism, most news were actually foreign, as registered by the courants of the 17th century in West and Central Europe, such as the Daily Courant (England), the Nieuwe Tijudinger (Antwerp), the Relation (Strasbourg), the Avisa Relation oder Zeitung (Wolfenbüttel) and the Courante Uyt Italien, Duytsland & C. (Amsterdam). Since these papers were aimed at bankers and merchants, they brought mostly news from other markets, which usually meant other nations. In any case, it is worthy to remark that nation-states were still incipient in 17th-century Europe.

Watch latest highlights of india vs south africa world cup 2015 match news and it is informed that india crushed and defeated south africa in world cup 2015 match..
Melbourne: Shikhar Dhawan smashed 137 off 146 balls as defending champions India whipped mighty South Africa by 130 runs to step closer to a quarter-final berth in the World Cup on Sunday.
A boisterous crowd of 86,876 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground saw India pile up 307 for seven after electing to bat and then bowl out the Proteas for 177 with almost 10 overs to spare in the day-night Pool B match.
Faf du Plessis top-scored with 55 but India made regular dents in the South African batting, with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin taking three wickets and seamers Mohammad Shami and Mohit Sharma sharing four wickets. (As It Happened - India vs South Africa)
With two wins from as many games -- India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 76 runs last Sunday -- Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men will move into the quarter-finals if they beat the unfaniced United Arab Emirates in Perth on February 28.
South Africa, one of the pre-tournament favourites who beat Zimbabwe in their first match, have two points from as many games.
Dhawan, the left-handed opener who resides in Melbourne with his British-Asian wife Ayesha and three children, hit 16 boundaries and two sixes during his seventh one-day international century.
All his seven hundreds have come in a winning cause, but it was the confident display against Dale Steyn and company that would have pleased retired batting star Sachin Tendulkar who was present in the packed stands.
Steyn, one of the most fearsome fast bowlers in the modern game, was clipped by Dhawan over backward square-leg for six and driven over his head for another six by Ajinkya Rahane.
Steyn finished with figures of one for 55 from 10 overs. (Sachin Tendulkar Clicks Selfie, Steals the Show at MCG)
- Philander injury -
South Africa were hampered further when seamer Vernon Philander hobbled off the field with a hamstring injury after sending down just four overs.
Dhawan, who made 73 against Pakistan, put on 127 for the second wicket with Virat Kohli (46) and 125 for the third with Rahane (79 off 60 balls).
The 29-year-old Dhawan fell in the 44th over when Hashim Amla, who had floored a difficult chance off Wayne Parnell when the batsman was on 53, picked up an easy catch at fine leg off the same bowler.
India lost five wickets for 41 runs after being strongly placed at 261 for two, but they still managed to score 80 runs off the last 10 overs. (Highlights: India Crush South Africa by 130 Runs for Historic Win)
India broke through in just the fourth over of South Africa's innings when Quinton de Kock, who had hit centuries in each of the last three one-dayers against them, was caught at mid-off for seven.
Dependable opener Amla had made 22 when he top-edged a pull off seamer Mohit Sharma and Shami, who had claimed de Kock's wicket, took a well-judged catch at long leg.
Skipper AB de Villiers made 30 in a 68-run stand for the third wicket with du Plessis when he was run out as Mohit Sharma rifled in a throw from deep cover for Dhoni to break the stumps.
South Africa slipped to 133 for four in the 29th over when Mohit Sharma, returning for his second spell, had the dangerous du Plessis caught at mid-off by Dhawan.
Ashwin, who came into the attack in the 22nd over, had JP Duminy caught in the slips and then trapped Philander leg before.
In between those two dismissals, David Miller was run out for 22 to leave South Africa gasping for survival at 153 for seven in 34 overs.
The tail folded up as Shami dismissed Steyn, Ashwin bowled Morne Morkel and Ravindra Jadeja claimed last man Imran Tahir leg-before to spark wild celebrations in the stands packed with India supporters.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has not delivered on the promise of democracy and is losing popular support.
Is it time to revise the plan for a new constitution and elections next year? And what about the huge challenges Al-Shabaab present to this troubled East African nation? With Vuyiswa Ngqbongwana in the studio to discuss these issues are Duale Yusuf, foreign secretary of the Somali Unity Council, the Kenyan broadcaster and editor of Informer East Africa, Julius Mbaluto, and joining us on the line from London is the British Somali journalist, Ismail Einashe.
At the end of March in Kenya, Garissa, a university town 200 kilometers from the Somali border came under attack. Al-Shabaab insurgents stormed into Garissa College University, firing their guns indiscriminately. Over 20 people were killed and 65 others have been wounded.
Over the last two years, Al-Shabaab has managed to enter Kenya from Somalia, where they are based, and managed to create chaos and destruction, without much difficulty. The root of the problem is the ongoing political crisis in Somalia.
Corruption also remains rife. Political progress is slow and since late last year, the president and prime minister have been locked in an argument over who has the right to hire and fire ministers. The president won, a new prime minister was named, and in February, his cabinet was approved at the parliament’s third attempt. However, as a result of the crisis, it seems that the prime minister’s reputation is in ruins. There should be a new constitution and fresh elections by next year, but it seems unlikely that this deadline will be met. As Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud congratulated new elected Nigerian President General Muhamadu Buhari, his own country seems to be in a conflict without end.

VICE travels to West Africa to rummage through the messy remains of a country ravaged by 14 years of civil war. Despite the United Nation's eventual intervention, most of Liberia's young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. The former child soldiers who were forced into war have been left to fend for themselves, the murderous warlords who once led them in cannibalistic rampages have taken up as so-called community leaders, and new militias are lying in wait for the opportunity to reclaim their country from a government they rightly mistrust.

South Africa: ICC calls for arrest of Sudan’s president during regional summit
A South African court has issued an interim order blocking Sudanese President Omar Bashir from leaving the country, until a judge hears an application for his arrest.
Bashir, who is in Johannesburg for the African Union summit, is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) – accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity over atrocities during the Darfur conflict.
But an arrest in South Africa appears unlikely. President Jacob Zuma’s government has given immunity to leaders and delegates attending the summit.
Bashir, who started another presidential term earlier this year, was indicted more than a decade ago.

The first penile transplant is to become a father. The 21 year old South African man lost his penis in a botched circumcision when he was 18. The operation used techniques that lead to the first face transplant just a few years prior. Currently, Africa has a large need for transplants as many boys are maimed or die during traditional initiation ceremonies. We discuss the surgery success further on The Lip News with Nik Zecevic and Margaret J. Howell.

A group of around a hundred migrants from Africa have been prevented from crossing from Italy in to France in the border town of Vintimille.
The migrants staged a sit-in on Saturday after around a dozen French police blocked their path.
The officers said they had received orders from the regional Alpes-Maritime prefecture not to let the migrants pass because they didn’t have any papers.
The prefect of the region, Adolphe Colrat, said he was only applying EU rules, but the protesters refused to turn back.
“We risked our lives crossing the Mediterranean. It was hard”, said one of the migrants. “This is nothing but we do need aid and there’s

Kenya Urges Africa to Give Up Aid
Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged fellow African leaders to stop receiving foreign aid, saying it is not an acceptable basis for prosperity. In a tweet ahead of this weekend's African Union summit in South Africa, he said, "Dependency on giving that only appears to be charitable must end." The BBC's Robert Kiptoo in Kenya says it is not a government policy but a rallying cry for African leaders. Aid is believed to account for 5-6% of Kenya's total income.

South Africa is an ICC signatory, meaning its obliged to exercise arrest warrants.
The Netherlands-based court says members would have “deep concerns” if that did not happen.
But one ICC official has reportedly said that Bashir would be a “fool” if he had not sought guarantees before leaving for Johannesburg.

Omar al-Bashir: ICC urges S Africa to arrest Sudan leader (BBC, June 14, 2015)
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-33125108
"The International Criminal Court (ICC) has called on South Africa to arrest Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir who is in the country for an African Union (AU) summit. Mr Bashir is wanted for war crimes over the conflict in Darfur.
An ICC statement said South Africa should "spare no effort" in detaining him. But instead he was welcomed by South African officials on his arrival in Johannesburg, SABC tweeted.
Sudan's Suna news agency said he was accompanied by the foreign minister and other top Sudanese officials.
There are tensions between the ICC and the AU, with some on the continent accusing the court of unfairly targeting Africans. The AU has previously urged the ICC to stop proceedings against sitting leaders.
The warrants against Mr Bashir, who denies the allegations, have severely restricted his overseas travel. He has, however, visited friendly states in Africa and the Middle East.
The ICC has no police force and relies on member states to carry out arrests. As a signatory to the Rome Statute that established the ICC, South Africa is obliged to arrest President Bashir if he sets foot in the country, but correspondents say this is unlikely to happen.
The AU has previously refused to co-operate with the ICC, accusing it of bias against African leaders...."

French police block African immigrants trying to cross the border from Italy
A group of around a hundred migrants from Africa have been prevented from crossing from Italy in to France in the border town of Vintimille.
The migrants staged a sit-in on Saturday after around a dozen French police blocked their path.
The officers said they had received orders from the regional Alpes-Maritime prefecture not to let the migrants pass because they didn’t have any papers.
The prefect of the region, Adolphe Colrat, said he was only applying EU rules, but the protesters refused to turn back.
“We risked our lives crossing the Mediterranean. It was hard”, said one of the migrants. “This is nothing but we do need aid and there’s nothing, no humanity. We’re ready to cross the sea again. We’re ready to die.”
The Italian Red Cross have been handing out some food. The organisation said the
migrants had started to arrive on Thursday after traveling from the south of the country.
Some are reported as wanting to go to France, others to Switzerland, Germany and the UK.
A Red Cross spokesman said the Italian authorities had not yet made a decision on whether or not to establish a camp for the migrants in Vintimille.

World's Biggest Wine fair Eyes Africa's new Tipplers

BORDEAUX: The world's biggest wine fair opens in Bordeaux, wine capital of France, this weekend, with vintners eyeing new tipplers in Africa as global consumption rises in Asia and elsewhere.
The US and China are the world's top wine-lovers, but Africa is the industry's next "future destination", says the Vinexpo wine and spirits fair, in a market expecting 3.5 percent growth over the next three years.
In Bordeaux, 45,000 buyers from 120 nations will hop from luxury chateaux to prestige vineyards partying and guzzling as France, the world's leading wine producer, lays out its best bottles and fare for a five-day get-together starting Sunday.
Wine is France's second-biggest export after aeronautics, accounting for half a million jobs, and President Francois Hollande will be the first head of state to open the Vinexpo fair.
"But wine and spirits consumption, though buoyant, faces a changing picture and many uncertainties", said the fair's CEO Guillaume Deglise.
"We're at a moment of transition with well-developed markets on the wane, such as France because of changes in consumption patterns and differences between generations" Deglise told AFP.

World News - October 16, 2014 - Breaking Ebola virus outbreak in Africa news
Stories covered on this October 16, 2014 edition of the Nightly World News:
• White House Homeland Security adviser Lisa Monaco, who has no professional medical expertise, was named by the White House as the point person in charge of coordinating the government’s response to the Ebola outbreak.
• A doctor claims that he developed a successful drug to combat Ebola with the U.S. Army at Ft. Detrick Maryland but that the research was inexplicably shut down two weeks before the first outbreak of the virus in West Africa. Richard C. Davis, M.D., a former flight surgeon with the U.S. Navy, told Infowars that he was leading a project to develop a drug called RC-2Beta, which according to Davis works, “at the core of our cells to enhance mitochondrial efficiency and promote gene signaling to stimulate cellular self-repair and pathogen destruction.”
• Is convalescent serum unproven as the WHO says? It’s a treatment technique that’s been used effectively for 124 years, called passive immunity. Dr. Kent Brantley and others who have contracted Ebola have been eager to receive and to pass on blood from survivors of Ebola. He received blood plasma antibodies from a patient he treated in Africa that survived. After Dr. Brantley survived, he donated plasma antibodies to the next American doctor to be infected, Dr. Sacra who also recovered.
• Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said during a telephone press briefing Wednesday that you cannot get Ebola by sitting next to someone on a bus, but that infected or exposed persons should not ride public transportation because they could transmit the disease to someone else.

Watch Mission World Cup India Beat South Africa World Cup 2015 - India Vs South Africa 2015.,.

World's Scariest Drug (Documentary Exclusive)
World's Scariest Drug (Documentary Exclusive)
VICE's Ryan Duffy went to Colombia to check out a strange and powerful drug called Scopolamine, also known as "The Devil's Breath." It's a substance so intense that it renders a person incapable of exercising free will. The first few days in the country were a harrowing montage of freaked-out dealers and unimaginable horror stories about Scopolamine. After meeting only a few people with firsthand experience, the story took a far darker turn than we ever could have imagined.

ICC Urges South Africa To Arrest Sudan Leader
The International Criminal Court has called on South Africa to arrest the Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir - who has travelled there to attend the African Union summit later on Sunday. The ICC said two arrest warrants were still outstanding against President Bashir. He is wanted in connection with atrocities allegedly committed in Darfur. The BBC's Anna Holligan reports.

Penis Transplant For African Circumcision Victim
The first penile transplant is to become a father. The 21 year old South African man lost his penis in a botched circumcision when he was 18. The operation used techniques that lead to the first face transplant just a few years prior. Currently, Africa has a large need for transplants as many boys are maimed or die during traditional initiation ceremonies. We discuss the surgery success further on The Lip News with Nik Zecevic and Margaret J. Howell.
