A selection of familiar scenes from around Edgware and Golders Green tube stations. Pleasing to see a few ALX-bodied Tridents still around, although these are gradually disappearing, along with Plaxton President-bodied vehicles (like the Volvo being towed at 12:05). Only one Dennis Dart in evidence on the morning I visited.
On this day I was harangued by two male bus drivers who didn't want their picture taken. In a country that allegedly has more CCTV cameras than anywhere else in the world, this seems laughably precious behaviour to me. My view is that if you're in a public place, there's nothing you can do about it - it's not against the law, and I can't see why anyone would protest if they have nothing to hide. [working while claiming benefits, perhaps?]
Filmed in 4K UHD and downsampled to HD. Mostly shot hand-held, some clips were stabilised using proDAD Mercalli, but it's not perfect, which is why there's an occasional jitter.
Filmed at many locations in and around Central London during Summer 2014 this is how the transport scene was looking. There is a focus on WVL's and PVL's South of the Thames aswell as the Heritage route 9 operated by Routemasters.

An October 2015 update film about the New Bus For London / New Routemaster buses which were created and brought into use to fulfil an election manifesto promise by Mayor Boris Johnson.
Designed by Heatherwick studios they are being built in Ireland by Wrightbus of Ballymena.
There are now over 500 of these buses in daily public service, with (in October 2015) at least several hundred more yet to come. As per the election manifesto promise some of them are used with the rear doorway open so that passengers can "hop on - hop off" when the bus has been caught at red traffic lights (signals) or become stuck in heavy traffic.
Some people see these buses as being iconic, others see them as a mayoral vanity project / a waste of money.
The footage showing these buses was filmed to show many well-known locations, including: Embankment, Trafalgar Square (several, including Nelson's Column), The Houses Of Parliament, St Pauls Cathedral, Bank, The Supreme Court, The Royal Courts of Justice, The Gherkin, The 'Walkie-Talkie', Marble Arch, Park Lane, Oxford Street, Victoria Bus Station,The British Telecom Tower, Tottenham Court Road, Fleet Street, Strand, Aldwych station...
Also seen are: the Old Shoreditch station, disused 1983 Tube Stock trains on a disused section of North London Line viaduct, the cycle superhighway in Clapham, some Regent Three (RT) buses, trolleybuses and real Routemaster buses - the latter both in their 'present-day' guise as heritage buses and in the 1990s when in full daily public service.
The film comprises 69 individual scenes, or 72 if each image within the four image montage is counted individually. It took at least 30 hours to make, spread over about 8 days. This excludes time spent visiting the locations to source the footage.

The second (and long overdue!) volume of buses in London! First we see lots of variety with Transport for London and Intalink buses meeting at Waltham Cross bus station, just north of London. Next we see new Borismasters and old AEC Routemasters along with other TFL buses and sightseeing buses at St. Paul's Cathedral. After this we head over to the Marble Arch where we see more TFL buses along with lots of long-distance buses operated by Green Line, National Express and Stagecoach. Our fourth destination is Waterloo, where we see lots of TFL double-deckers as well as some single-deck hydrogen-powered buses in operation. Finally we see TFL buses operating into, out of and past Tottenham Hale Station, and also a special rail-replacement service due to Victoria Line Engineering work which took place between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central in August, 2015.

London Buses is the subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL) that manages bus services within Greater London, England. Buses are required to carry similar red colour schemes and conform to the same fare scheme. All services are provided by private sector operators.
Transport for London's key areas of direct responsibility through London Buses are the following:
All bus operations are undertaken under a tendering system in which operators bid for routes in return for a set price per route operated. Bus routes run for approximately 5 years before being re-tendered. Routes are set up, controlled and tendered out by TfL and they provide day to day assistance via CentreComm which coordinates a large scale network of Network Traffic Controllers to help with any traffic issues that may occur. Operators provide staff to drive the buses, provide the buses to operate and also adhere to set TfL guidelines. Operators are then in return paid per mile that each bus runs, the pricing is announced on new tenders.

A selection of familiar scenes from around Edgware and Golders Green tube stations. A selection of familiar scenes from around Edgware and Golders Green tube stations. Pleasing to see a few ALX-bodied Tridents still around, although these are gradually disappearing, along with Plaxton President-bodied vehicles (like the Volvo being towed at 12:05). Only one Dennis Dart in evidence on the morning I visited.
On this day I was harangued by two male bus drivers who didn't want their picture taken. In a country that allegedly has more CCTV cameras than anywhere else in the world, this seems laughably precious behaviour to me. My view is that if you're in a public place, there's nothing you can do about it - it's not against the law, and I can't see why anyone would protest if they have nothing to hide. Filmed in 4K UHD and downsampled to HD. Mostly shot hand-held, some clips were stabilised using proDAD Mercalli, but it's not perfect, which is why there's an occasional jitter.

An October 2015 update film about the New Bus For London / New Routemaster buses which were created and brought into use to fulfil an election manifesto promise by Mayor Boris Johnson.
Designed by Heatherwick studios they are being built in Ireland by Wrightbus of Ballymena.
There are now over 500 of these buses in daily public service, with (in October 2015) at least several hundred more yet to come. As per the election manifesto promise some of them are used with the rear doorway open so that passengers can "hop on - hop off" when the bus has been caught at red traffic lights (signals) or become stuck in heavy traffic.
Some people see these buses as being iconic, others see them as a mayoral vanity project / a waste of money.
The footage showing these buses was filmed to show many well-known locations, including: Embankment, Trafalgar Square (several, including Nelson's Column), The Houses Of Parliament, St Pauls Cathedral, Bank, The Supreme Court, The Royal Courts of Justice, The Gherkin, The 'Walkie-Talkie', Marble Arch, Park Lane, Oxford Street, Victoria Bus Station,The British Telecom Tower, Tottenham Court Road, Fleet Street, Strand, Aldwych station...
Also seen are: the Old Shoreditch station, disused 1983 Tube Stock trains on a disused section of North London Line viaduct, the cycle superhighway in Clapham, some Regent Three (RT) buses, trolleybuses and real Routemaster buses - the latter both in their 'present-day' guise as heritage buses and in the 1990s when in full daily public service.
The film comprises 69 individual scenes, or 72 if each image within the four image montage is counted individually. It took at least 30 hours to make, spread over about 8 days. This excludes time spent visiting the locations to source the footage.
