Uncle Sam (initials U.S.) is a common national personification of the American government that according to legend came into use during the War of 1812 and was supposedly named for Samuel Wilson. The first use of Uncle Sam in literature was in the 1816 allegorical book The Adventures of Uncle Sam in Search After His Lost Honor by Frederick Augustus Fidfaddy, Esq.
The earliest known personification of what would become the United States was "Columbia" who first appeared in 1738 and sometimes was associated with Liberty. With the American Revolutionary War came "Brother Jonathan" as another personification and finally after the War of 1812 Uncle Sam appeared.
Sam Wilson was a meat packer in New York, who supplied rations for the soldiers. They had to stamp their contractors name and where the rations were coming from, onto the food they were sending. On the package, it was labeled “E.A – US.” When someone asked what that stood for, a coworker joked and said “Elbert Anderson (the contractor) and Uncle Sam,” referring to Sam Wilson, though it actually stood for United States. As early as 1835 Brother Jonathan made a reference to Uncle Sam implying that they symbolized different things: Brother Jonathan was the country itself while Uncle Sam was the government and its power.

A parent and a child. The past and the present. Memories and secrets. Can you know someone for a lifetime.... and not know them at all? The life of a father. Through the journey of a son.
Between every father and his son there is a story to be told.

Arthur Morrison: [inside a car in a desert beach] Time you learn to drive.::Young Blake Morrison: What? Here?::Arthur Morrison: Well, at least here there's no one for you to smash into!

Blake Morrison: And when did you last see your father? Was it when they burned the coffin? Put the lid on? When he exhaled his last breath? When he sat up and said something? When he last recognized you? When he last smiled? When did you last see your father? The last time he was healthy, active? The last time he had an argument about something? Those weeks in which we tried to say goodbye were like a series of depletion's. Each day I thought 'he can't get less like himself than this.' Yet each day he did. So I've been trying to recall the last time I actually saw him. The last time he was unmistakeably... there. In the fullness of being, I dunno... him.

The story of the imperial German government's spies, plots and propaganda in the United States
I heard you when you cried
And gave a quiet sigh
You don't need another tear to fall
You don't need him at all
You don't know how much you mean
You mean the world to me
In my sky you are the star
Baby, baby you are
Baby you are my Cinderella
Baby you are my love forever
You're the kind of girl I thought I'd never have
Baby you are my dream come true
And my happiness is you
You're a star
Baby, baby you are
It's not easy on the heart
When a love has come and gone
But I'll help you dry you tears
And I'll nurse your broken heart
The funny thing about love
Is it can never be denied
So won't you let me be your anchor hold
And I'll guide you through the night
And if you should ever fall
I will hold you strong and tall
You're a star, baby you are
Baby you are my Cinderella
Baby you are my love forever
You're the kind of girl I thought I'd never have
Baby you are my dream come true
And my happiness is you
You're a star
Baby, baby you are
Early one mornin' while you were asleep
I received a letter but there was no addressee
So I paid it no mind, in fact, I wanted to send it back
But something that I was feeling said open it
It said, "Dear reader, once close friend of mine
Hope that this letter finds you in time
'Cause your love is endin' and my life's just beginnin'
With a woman that I know you hold dear to you"
And it made me wanna say
I don't ever wanna see you again
But I stuck by you till the end
And my conscience is clear
And I can move on from here
But I wish I could say the same for you, baby
I don't ever wanna see you again, no, yeah
But tell me why did it have to be my best friend?
That you were messin' around with
I didn't want to notice it
I was true to my love for you
It took me a minute to wake up and see
What the love of my life was doin' to me
I wanted to lay down and die
'Cause my pride wouldn't let me cry
Somehow I knew I had to get over it
He said he couldn't understand
Until he felt your touch
Now he can see why I love you so much
And that's so unfair
I never thought I have to share
Your love that I thought was given
To only me and that's why
I don't ever wanna see you again
But I stuck by you till the end
And my conscience is clear
And I can move on from here
But I wish I could say the same for you, baby
And I don't ever wanna see you again
But tell me why did it have to be my best friend?
That you were messin' around with
I didn't want to notice it
I was true to my love for you
And you say you love me?
Love must've been blind
'Cause I sure didn't see this one comin'
My best friend, huh?
They say keep the one's you love close
And your enemy's even closer
But I can't win for losin', girl
'Cause the one I thought was a friend to me
Ended up being my true enemy
Listen to me, baby
I gave you everythin'
My love and my ring
And you violated me
And I don't wanna see you again
I don't ever wanna see you again
But I stuck by you till the end
And my conscience is clear
And I can move on from here
But I wish I could say the same for you, baby
I don't ever wanna see you again
But tell me why did it have to be my best friend?
That you were messin' around with
I didn't want to notice it
I was true to my love for you
I don't ever wanna see you again
But I stuck by you till the end
And my conscience is clear
And I can move on from here
But I wish I could say the same for you, baby
I don't ever wanna see you again
But tell me why did it have to be my best friend?
That you were messin' around with
Word up, hear ye, hear ye
Uncle Sam, Stone Creek for the 9's
Word is bond, I hope you paid your taxes
'Cause it's time to bring the ruckus
That's what's up, yo Sam, bring it on
I'm gonna steal your love from your man
And put it in my pocket
Turn your heart around never let you down
And then I'm gonna knock it
For all you do, this bud's for you
And give you almost everything you want
Just enough to please you
Are you down? Can you feel it?
I need to know now what you feel
I got love girl, can you feel it?
And no need to hide if it's real
Pop a little Cristal
Even though I don't drink at all
Put your mind in a vibe
Make you feel all funny inside
Hey, no need to worry
'Cause I won't hurt you
'Cause I won't hurt you
Just wanna give you all
The feel-goods you deserve
Girl, I'm gonna be the one
To make this night
A night you won't forget
Are you down? Can you feel it?
I need to know now what you feel
I got love girl, can you feel it?
And no need to hide if it's real
Are you down? Can you feel it?
I need to know now what you feel
I got love girl, can you feel it?
And no need to hide if it's real
Popa Chief threw the stone in the Creek
Can I tempt your tummy with the taste of nuts 'n honey
Can I be your playboy you can be my bunny
Take all my money, treat me like a dummy
And in the morning, wake and rub me on my tummy
Tickle my fancy and guess what
I'll tickle you back with something lacey
I'll massage and crack your back
The roughneck chicken needs a roughneck chickadee
The question of the day, is you down with me?
Time ticks, just me and you on the miss
Grant your every wish
Be your favorite dish, plus dessert
Doesn't matter what time when I do work
Perform like a one man concert
Here's the plan pop in a tape of Uncle Sam
Then I'll show you how nice I am
'Bout to make your mate insanely jealous
And if he don't like it, he got to find us to tell us
Are you down? Can you feel it?
I need to know now what you feel
I got love girl, can you feel it?
And no need to hide if it's real
Are you down? Can you feel it?
I need to know now what you feel
I got love girl, can you feel it?
And no need to hide if it's real
Are you down?
I need to know now
I got love girl
And no need to hide if it's real
Are you down?
I need to know now
[Verse 1:]
Never knew love was real
Until you walked into my life
My every fantasy
Was made true before my eyes
You came right on time
Put a new smile apon my face
No longer out of order
Everything fell right in place
You gave love just as good as you received
Oh it's been a long time
Since I ever felt the need to have a woman around
I need
[Chorus:]
Someone Like You
To hld me oh so tight) (I need)
Someone Like You
To give me all her love and more) (I want)
Someone Like You
To satidfy my yearning heart) (I gotta have)
Someone Like You
[Verse 2:]
Never thought that anyone
Could understand my moody ways (and)
They parlay in the sunshine
But when it rain they couldn't stay
But you gave me the difference
That I had to have around me
You made love very possible
When I started to disbeleive
You gave love to someone
Who was long gone
Helped me get over
Gave me the strenght to carry on
Helped me move on (I need)
[Chorus:]
Someone Like You
To hld me oh so tight) (I need)
Someone Like You
To give me all her love and more) (I want)
Someone Like You
To satidfy my yearning heart) (I gotta have)
Someone Like You
[Bridge (Adlibe):]
Oh baby
I need you baby
Never thougth I could
Ever feel this way (never)
But baby girl I want you to stay
With me is where you need to be
Right here with me baby)
Gotta have
Your love every minute of the day (every minute)
Keep you satisfied in every way
I'm taking you to your extasy (Oh I need)
Oh listen to me baby
Look into my eyes
And hear what I say
(Someone Like You)
Oh you ste my world on fire baby (I need)
(Someone Like You)
Oh to satisfy my hearts desire baby (I want)
We've been lovers
For a very long time
Been friends much longer than that
But due to circumstances beyond our control
We had to hide the very thing we know is fact
Now the rumor has it, we're messin' around
People seein' us together all the time
Things you say to your friends 'bout me
Things I say 'bout you
It becomes obvious and such a clear sign
So baby
Why don't we just stop playin' the masquerade?
And let it fade
1 - Everybody knows that I love you baby
And they know that you love me too
Why don't we stop foolin' around?
They all think that both of us is actin' kinda crazy
Tryin' hard to hide what's true
Why don't we stop foolin' around?
Baby girl, I love you
Like the rays of the sun
And it's written all over my face
(Written all over my face)
Wanna be with you always
'Til my days are done
'Cause no one could ever take your place
And baby, I know, I know
That you feel the same
So no more games
Repeat 1
o baby
Why don't we just stop playin' the masquerade?
And let it fade
Go to work give your shares, we'll drain the life from you
The Internet so cool tax dollars hard at work
Built my new swimming pool you think you elected me
So trust I know what's best for you
What do I get for my taxes? Social security
You will never control me
Sit down watch the news, we censored it for you
We control everything you're thinking, so don't be feeling blue
Conform and don't ask questions, you'll wind up in jail
Subliminal happiness is what you want as we can tell
Kicked in the head for non conformity
You will never control me
Uncle Sam, he wants you to take his hand, see you through
Give your life, never trust no one who lies to you
Remember Vietnam nothing but total scam
Can you trust Uncle Sam when he smiles and lies to you?
Nixon Watergate, Clinton, it's too late
(Thompson/Foreman)
Here they come again hop scotching up to my door
One by one again knockety knock knocking upon my floor
Swinging on my gate they gain entry by the yard
Pulling at my hair they scream paint your thoughts upon my card
But not tonight I've got studies to examine
Tomorrow I'll be watching all the Queen's men
A talent contest on Monday with my Uncle Sam
Who now takes up all of my time he gives me things to do
'Cause he's a wonderful man
But I'm sailing across the sea to see my Uncle Sam
I'm sailing across the sea to be with my Uncle Sam
To be with my Uncle Sam
Silly little sniggers from the women liberators
But I'll stand and hold my post
Polished buttons and erect I'll raise the flag
I'll show those women who's the most
But not tonight I've got studies to examine
Tomorrow I'll be watching all the Queen's men
A talent contest on Monday with my Uncle Sam
Who now takes up all of my time, gives me things to do
He's a wonderful man
But I'm sailing across the sea to see my Uncle Sam
I'm sailing across the sea to be with my Uncle Sam
I'm sailing across the sea to see my Uncle Sam
I'm sailing across the sea to be with my Uncle Sam
But not tonight I've got studies to examine
Tomorrow ah ah ah
And tomorrow I'll be watching all the Queen's men
A talent contest on Monday with my Uncle Sam
Who now takes up all of my time he gives me things to do
'Cause he's a wonderful man
I'm sailing across the sea to see my Uncle Sam
I'm sailing across the sea to be with my Uncle Sam
I'm sailing across the sea to see my Uncle Sam
I'm sailing across the sea to be with my Uncle Sam
When you're all alone do you think about me?
Do you think about me?
'Cause I think about you all the time
How long do you think about me?
Do you think about me? Baby
Baby, baby, do you have a minute or 2 to spare?
'Cause I, I'm not the same when I'm by myself
Your face always seem to appear in my mind
All I wanna know is
When you're all alone do you think about me?
Do you think about me?
'Cause I think about you all the time
How long do you think about me?
Do you think about me? Baby
Do you get my message?
Can you read between the lines?
Need to know just what the deal
It's the perfect situation
'Cause you and I have been cool for a while
And I've been diggin' your style
So do you wanna explore the chances
Of makin' it much more than just talkin' on the phone, baby?
See if our feelings of love enhances
If it's alright with you, tell me what you wanna do, baby?
When you're all alone do you think about me?
Do you think about me?
'Cause I think about you all the time
How long do you think about me?
Do you think about me? Baby
You're on my mind every day
And I want to know if you think about me
When you're all alone do you think about me?
Do you think about me?
'Cause I think about you all the time
How long do you think about me?
Do you think about me? Baby
When you're all alone do you think about me?
Do you think about me?
'Cause I think about you all the time
How long do you think about me?
Do you think about me? Baby
When you're all alone do you think about me?
Do you think about me?
'Cause I think about you all the time
How long do you think about me?
The word of mouth has reached my ears
We just became volunteers
I can't picture you in uniform
Your heart is much too frail
You're better off in jail
They asked us both to join their gang
Could it be you'd rather hang?
Don't want you to die for me
Why should I for you?
Hope you see it too
Well, I'm going across the border
Watch what happens to me
Well, I'm going across the border
Watch what happens to me
With my name on the blacklist
I can find a new place to be
And if they still come looking
On the road is where I'll be
And if they still come looking
Just a few things you make me feel like
Tuesday nights, black lights, velvet pictures, movie in
Zodiac signs, street lights
Shine through the window, 50 candles in yellow
Got a lot, a lot of love for you, baby
Got a lot, a lot of love
I wanna put you up there now baby
Wanna place you up above
Ooh, you make me wanna stare at you, baby
Make me wanna look and see
'Cause I like the way you move your sexuality
Girl you make me feel like
Touching you
Girl you make me feel like
Holding you
Girl you make me feel like
Needing you
Girl you make me feel like
Making love to you
Baby, baby, won't you come to me, baby?
Baby, baby, come to me
'Cause I've got this feeling, darlin'
And it's really killing, see
If I take you in, will you come up?
I need to know right now
I wanna see if it's real now, baby
What's this thing all about?
Girl you make me feel like
Touching you
Girl you make me feel like
Holding you
Girl you make me feel like
Needing you
Girl you make me feel like
Making love to you
If I ask you, can I touch you there, baby
Does it feel good?
'Cause when you touch me
You make me feel like a real man should
Please be gentle, I'll be gentle
That's alright
'Cause I wanna do you, baby, all night
Girl you make me feel like
Touching you
Girl you make me feel like
Holding you
Girl you make me feel like
Needing you
Girl you make me feel like
Making love to you
Girl you make me feel like
Touching you
Girl you make me feel like
Holding you
Girl you make me feel like
Needing you
Girl you make me feel like
Making love to you
Girl you make me feel like
Touching you
Girl you make me feel like
Holding you
Girl you make me feel like
Needing you
Girl you make me feel like
Making love to you
Girl you make me feel like
Girl you make me feel like
Girl you make me feel like
Girl you make me feel like
Sometimes I wonder how I'd ever make it though
Through this world without having you
I just wouldn't have a clue
'Cause sometime it seems like
This worlds closing in on me
And there's no way of breaking free
And then I see you reach for me
Sometimes I wanna give up
Wanna give in, I wanna quit the fight
And then I see you baby
And everything's alright, everything's alright
When I see you smile, I can face the world, ooh
You know I can do anything
When I see you smile, I see a ray of light, ooh
I see it shining right through the rain
When I see you smile
Baby, when I see you smile at me, oh yeah
Baby there's nothing in this world
That could ever do, what the touch of your hand can do
It's like nothing that I ever knew
And when then rain is falling, I can feel it
'Cause you're here with me now
And one look at ya baby
It's all I'll ever need, it's all I'll ever need
When I see you smile, I can face the world, ooh
You know I can do anything
When I see you smile, I see a ray of light, ooh
I see it shining right through the rain
When I see you smile
Baby, when I see you smile at me
Sometimes I wanna give up
I wanna give in, I wanna quit the fight
Then one look at ya baby
And everything's alright, yeah, everything's alright, so right
When I see you smile, I can face the world, ooh
You know I can do anything, yeah
When I see you smile, I see a ray of light, ooh
I see it shining right through the rain, yeah
When I see you smile, yeah I can face the world, ooh
You know I can do anything
When I see you smile, oh yeah, baby
(Intro)
I don't know what to do
She's all I've ever wanted
I'mma have to let this feeling go
Because I can't have her
It's killing me
I never wanted anything in this world
As much as I want you, mmm
>From the first moment I saw you
I felt my heart yearning
But I know you gotta man
And you love him real strong
He claims he loves you too
But I know
That he don't love you like I do
And I can't help the way I feel
Everyday it gets so hard to deal
The one I love so much, don't feel the same about me
Gotta let it be
1 - I keep tellin' myself, better walk on
Leave well enough alone
Better find a woman of my own
Keep on tellin' myself I can't make her my very own
Leave well enough alone
Better move on
Only know your man by seeing him with you
Respect forces me not to pursue
Don't worry
Steppin' out of line, I will never do
I pray that one day
You'll have a change of heart
(I promise we'll never part, oh no)
You'll be cherished by me like a work of art
I just can't hold what's inside
My foolish pride won't let me hide
Can't stop my love
'Cause you are my destiny
Repeat 1
But you love someone else
Why'd you have to love someone else baby?
Mmm mm mm
I need something to know
And I can't help the way I feel
Everyday, it gets so hard to deal
Can't stop my love
'Cause you are my destiny
Hey, hey, hey
(Intro)
What's wrong baby?
What's goin' on?
I don't understand, ya know?
Won't you tell me what's wrong
We been together for too long
For you to just throw it all away
Talk to me
I wanna know how you feel
'Cause baby, I care
So tell me, what's the deal?
[Uncle Sam]
What have I done
To make you go away
I can't understand why you don't wanna stay, oh
Was it somethin' I said
To make you feel this way
Baby I'm sorry
Please give me a chance to make a brighter day
Lady tell me what...
1 - [Johnny, Shawn, & Uncle Sam]
What can I say or do
For you
To know that my heart is true
My love
Turn my gray skies to blue
'Cause I can't go on without lovin' you
[Uncle Sam]
Can I, can I re-write the chapter in our lives
Where we went wrong
'Cause your love's been around for oh so long
And I can't believe that it's over
Not able to love, kiss & hold you
Baby that ain't cool, oh
Why you treating me oh so cruel
Now tell me what...
Repeat 1
[Uncle Sam]
Ohh, so tell me what must I do...
Repeat
Shawn & Uncle Sam]
Can we start our love over again?
(Can we start all over again?)
It's in your hands baby, don't let it end
(It's in your hands, baby)
'Cause I can't see a thing without your love to guide my way
(Guide my way)
Baby, come back to me to stay
People give a listen to what I say
It's on word is born
The party's jumping
At the creek tonight
Ladies leave your man at home
Fellas come along
Cause what we're doing
Will not be done til the early light
[Chorus]
All the ladies in the house throw your hands in the air
All the fellas in the house throw your hands in the air
If you're high on life let me hear you say yea
Everybody in the house throw your hands in the air
It's three o'clock in the morning
And the fun has just begun
The party's on a high
No player haters inside
Love is in the air
My peoples everywhere
So pop some Dam and free your mind
And have a good time
[Chorus]
All the ladies in the house throw your hands in the air
All the fellas in the house throw your hands in the air
If you're high on life let me hear you say yea
Everybody in the house throw your hands in the air
[Bridge]
I'm chill baby
If you're chill
If it's all right
I'm gonna chill
[Chorus]
All the ladies in the house throw your hands in the air
All the fellas in the house throw your hands in the air
If you're high on life let me hear you say yea

What the love of my life was doin' to me
I wanted to lay down and die
'Cause my pride wouldn't let me cry
Somehow I knew I had to get over it
He said he couldn't understand
Until he felt your touch
Now he can see why I love you so much
And that's so unfair
I never thought I have to share
Your love that I thought was given
To only me and that's why
I don't ever wanna see you again
But I stuck by you till the end
And my conscience is clear
And I can move on from here
But I wish I could say the same for you, baby
And I don't ever wanna see you again
But tell me why did it have to be my best friend?
That you were messin' around with
I didn't want to notice it
I was true to my love for you
And you say you love me?
Love must've been blind
'Cause I sure didn't see this one comin'
My best friend, huh?
They say keep the one's you love close
And your enemy's even closer
But I can't win for losin', girl
'Cause the one I thought was a friend to me
Ended up being my true enemy
Listen to me, baby
I gave you everythin'
My love and my ring
And you violated me
And I don't wanna see you again
I don't ever wanna see you again
But I stuck by you till the end
And my conscience is clear
And I can move on from here
But I wish I could say the same for you, baby
I don't ever wanna see you again
But tell me why did it have to be my best friend?
That you were messin' around with
I didn't want to notice it
I was true to my love for you
I don't ever wanna see you again
But I stuck by you till the end
And my conscience is clear
And I can move on from here
But I wish I could say the same for you, baby
I don't ever wanna see you again
But tell me why did it have to be my best friend?
That you were messin' around with
I'm your nephew, yes it's true, oh, can't you hear me Uncle Sam
Can I sit upon your bended knee just like the other man?
Didn't I die in Vietnam and didn't I walk in Birmingham?
I'm your nephew, yes it's true, oh, can't you hear me Uncle Sam
Hear me, hear me
Didn't I sail the water against my every will?
Didn't I fetch that water when your bucket needed a refill?
Where was all the water when the fire was burning up the cross?
I'm your nephew too it's true, oh, hear me, Mr. Boss
Can you hear me, can you hear me? Listen to me
Didn't I get all A's in school, oh, yes I did now Uncle Sam
My books did not have covers on 'em still I did the best I can
How come I can't get no job, I just don't understand
Don't you love me anymore, why can't you tell me Uncle Sam
I'm your nephew, yes it's true, oh, can't you hear me Uncle Sam
Can I sit upon your bended knee just like the other man?
Didn't I die in Vietnam and didn't I walk in Birmingham?
I'm your nephew, yes it's true, oh, can't you hear me Uncle Sam
I've lived the life a citizen's supposed to
So why I gotta be the illegitimate nephew
Remember me, Uncle Sam I fought your war
And went all out not knowing what I was fighting for
Sam why'd you let them rape my great grandmother?
Then go to the oak tree and hang her brother
When Abe was slaving there wasn't a fuss
So where was you when they was in my yard burning the cross?
Do you love me or what, Uncle Sam, what is it?
You wanna maim me and claim the grand wizard
I'll let that pass and marched for a just 'cause
Then got uncivilized rights with unenforced laws
Passed your curriculum got a diploma
And can't get a job 'cause my skin has color
You say things changed between now and then
Now, I wanna know the difference between me and him?
I'm your nephew, yes it's true, oh, can't you hear me Uncle Sam
Can I sit upon your bended knee just like the other man?
Didn't I die in Vietnam and didn't I walk in Birmingham?
I'm your nephew, yes it's true, oh, can't you hear me Uncle Sam
Can't you hear me Uncle Sam
Can't you hear me Uncle Sam
I'm your nephew, yes it's true , oh, can't you hear me Uncle Sam
