Roger Harry Daltrey, CBE (born 1 March 1944), is an English singer, musician, songwriter and actor, best known as the founder and lead singer of English rock band The Who. He has maintained a musical career as a solo artist and has also worked in the film industry, acting in a large number of films, theatre and television roles and also producing films. In 2008 he was ranked number 61 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.
Roger Harry Daltrey was born in the Hammersmith area of London, but was brought up in Acton, the same working class suburban district that produced fellow Who members Pete Townshend and John Entwistle. He was one of three children born to parents Irene and Harry Daltrey, and grew up with two sisters, Gillian and Carol. Harry Daltrey worked for a water closet manufacturer, and Irene Daltrey was told she would be unable to have children because of losing a kidney in 1937. Nevertheless, she went into labour during a World War II air raid and gave birth to her son at the nearby Hammersmith Hospital, West London. At the age of three, the young Roger swallowed a rusty nail which had to be surgically removed, leaving a visible scar. At the age of five, the rust from the nail caused an ulcer in his stomach which required him to be hospitalised.

Set it here, set it here
What is this, boy, what's the deal here
What's the deal here?
Come on with it, come on with it, speak up
Speak up, you better be cool, suckas
You better be cool
You don't know who I am, do you, chump?
I'm the death to you, boy
To you, and you, and you, better remember now
What goes around, comes around
I'm coming here, don't fuck me with now
You'll be dead
[Intro: Eyeslow (Allah Real)
Yo, Tommy what you doing out here, man?
(Our little Tommy is thugging)
You only 13, man, you should be in the crib, man
You know if your brother was here, man
(Selling drugs and he's buggin')
You know what they do to you, man
Word, I'll let him know, Jamaica, Queens
(Our little Tommy is thugging)
When we get smoked out, we just be buggin'
Knowhatimsayin', check it
(Our little Tommy is thugging)
Yo, yo, yo
[Eyeslow]
Aiyo, I'm looking for that Dolly Parton
So I skeet right on the salad garden
Key up her ignition, after, whippin' it, I'm valet parking
Fine gray buddha, now we sparking
Fingers cob webbin', cop weave through four Jamaican's bobsledding
I'm top ranked with the bank, it's no more stolen cars
Fightin' over tuna cans and living off granola bars
I put my work in like the Older Gods
And gotta mob with status, Martin Lawrence
Made it word, to rob and har'ass
And my hood is villain blocks, niggaz killin' cops
Cops killin' niggaz, dirty chicks and penicillen shots
I'm sick of seeing bitches lyin' with a straight face
Friendly orgy turning into Kobe Bryant's rape case
My block is where the drama take place
Fightin' mocassen, dippin' from Johnny Depp and Ali Robinson
21 Jump Street jake, NYPD license plates
I ripe with grapes, pipe the eighth, but only if my life's at stake
Yo, I'm trynna get my cash established
Three-two, Eyes -

[Bald Head]
Little Tommy got his hands on a gun, he only 13
Smoking weed, running from thugs that's like 33
He try'nna grow through fads, it ain't cool
Cuttin' school, at a hooky party, feelin' on ass
Til some hatin' cats came in, Tommy started grippin'
Dude looked him up and down, and Tommy got offended
Shots rang up, everybody run and rappin'
Little do they know, Tommy love gun clappin'
The kid bounce before he even got hit
Messed up when shorty got caught, between that shit
Now, who gonna tell honey moms how she cut school
At a hooky school with girlfriends and wild dudes
Who gonna talk to the cop, who gettin' locked for it?
Tommy fled the scene, before somebody else saw him
He ran fast, down Fulton Ave., tossin' his gun
Thinkin' to himself; 'What the fuck I've done'
[Chorus x2: Angie Neil]
Tommy, Tommy
Tommy, Tommy
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy
[Bald Head]
His pops left when he was young, brother got locked up
In the car chase, cause somebody got shot up
A prime example of a man in your life
A little dude like to fight for what's wrong, and not right
Livin' life, it ain't life no more, homicide outside
Lookin' in, about to knock on his door
And little Tommy in a jam now, he going out
Deja vu, but he seen what his brother would do
So he flew out the back, on the run for the rest of his life
Somebody told, he did it that same night
A news flash, girl shot dead, her family sad
And little Tommy couldn't live with that, he'd rather die
Commited suicide, blew his brains out, his moms cried
Only son left, took his last breath, closed his eyes now
He on the other side, feeling good, talk to the God
Understanding why he had it so hard
[Interlude: Angie Neil (Allah Real) {Bald Head}]
Tommy is buggin', oh yeah
Tommy is thuggin'
Tommy hisself, Tommy hisself
(Said he thugged and he bugged)
Tommy is buggin', Tommy is buggin'
(Drugs... did that)
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Tommy
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Tommy
Tom, Tom, Tom, Tom, Tommy
{Brooklyn, nigga, yo Mathematics
They ain't understanding, man
This is real serious, word haha
It's a lot of little Tommy's all over the US ghetto
You know what I mean? I mean these young dudes
Really don't know, man, I think the TV
Manipulate they minds man, they raising our kids
Man, too many of them, we gotta control it, word
And this what happens when you can't control it}
I was talking to my friend Tommy, he's almost 6.3 years old. I said, "Is it just me, or has
Power Rangers gone to shit this season?" and he shook his head and said, "I know." I
said, "That Turbo movie was stupid," and Tommy said, "I didn't even go." And he said, "I
can't keep track of the Zords." And he said, "I hardly even watch it anymore." I said, "I
think they lost when they all switched colors just for the hell of it," and Tommy said, "That
'White Ranger's long-lost brother' theme didn't seem relevant." I said, "It's just like
Darkman--it started out fine but it sucked by the time they made Darkman III: Die Darkman
Die. Everything good turns to crap eventually," and that's when Tommy said, "Isn't that
just the way it is?" And Tommy said, "What happened to my friend Barney? Yesterday he
was a king, now he's a dinosaur. And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just doesn't hold my
interest anymore." I said, "Team Knight Rider was a letdown too." He said, "It's true, but
not as disappointing as Secret Wars II." I
said, 'It's just the same as G.I. Joe. I recall he was one foot tall. He'd of stepped on Cobra
Commander and drop-kicked Destro." He said, "It's just like the New Kids--I thought they
were cool but I felt like a fool when I found out Donnie Wahlberg was in graduate school." I
said, "Or consider Duran Duran since they got that other fella: they went from Seven and
the Ragged Tiger to Electric Barbarella. Tommy said, "Can you explain why nothing ever
stays the same? Adam, can you help me, man? Can you help me understand? Who,
what, where, when, how, and why? Is there a God? And who am I? And do you think
they'll really remake the original Planet of the Apes?" I said, "don't ask me, I'm only 28."
And it's just like Tommy said, "Isn't that just the way it is." That's just the way it goes.
That's just the way the cookie crumbles. That's just the way the old ball bounces. Shit
happens. Isn't it a shame? Isn't it a crying shame? It's a crying shame. Crap! Crap crap!
Crap, crap. It turns to crap. It turns to crap an
d it won't turn back. Crap, crap. It turn to crap. C'mon everybody c'mon and do the crap
clap. Crap. Crap. It turns to crap. It turns to crap and it won't turn back. Like Spinal Tap
and white boy rap and every singing family since the von Trapps. Crap: The Gap, the
Mercator map the movie Zapped! and the game Mousetrap. The clap? Crap! The guy from
Tap! Fiesta wraps and Rob Liefeld's Cap. Everything good turns to crap. It turns to crap

Tommy, allow me to be near...
Tommy, lay it on me, right here,
where the yin and the yang collide,
Never, never, never again
Will Tommy die for you
Over the top the unknown go
Into a land where no man lives
Say goodbye to his friends
Cause they will never see Tommy again
General, general on the top of the hill
Middle class man whose blood won’t spill
Kept out of the action, out of harm’s way
Cause he’s gonna find that Tommy’s dead
Never, never, never again
War is over so they say
How many Tommys died that day
Now it’s over count the cost
A ring of roses for those that lost
A place in history is what they’ve got
For what they paid it’s not a lot
Medals and statues are no compensation
For working class heros who died for you
Never, never, never again
Will Tommy die for you
Over the top the unknown go
Into a land where no man lives
Say goodbye to his friends
Cause they will never see Tommy again
General, general on the top of the hill
Middle class man whose blood won’t spill
Kept out of the action, out of harm’s way
Cause he’s gonna find that Tommy’s dead
Deaf, dumb and blind boy
He's in a quiet vibration land
Strange as it seems
His musical dreams, ain't quite so bad
Ten years old with thoughts as bold
As thoughts can be
Loving life and becoming
Wise in simplicity
Sickness will surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know
A vague haze of delirium creeps up on me
All at once a tall stranger I suddenly see
He's dressed in a silver sparked glittering gown
And his Golden beard flows nearly down to the ground
Nothing to say, nothing to hear
Nothing to see
Each sensation makes
A note in my symphony
Sickness will surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know
His eyes are the eyes that transmit all they know
Sparkle warm crystalline glances to show
He is your leader, he is your guide
On the amazing journey together you'll ride
Tommy: Jacob Ray Salazar
There once was this kid whose name was Tommy,
Tommy grew up without a daddy or mommy Well he was 12 years old and had a heart of gold but lived on the roads He came outside with a bloody nose into the snowy cold
And his mom was screaming at him “Go Tommy Go”
But Tommy just said “No, I want to stay cuz this is my home”
She said “Tommy just go you don’t know what’s going on
Then the dad came out and she said “Run Tommy run, your daddy’s got a gun
Your daddy’s been drinking and just killed someone”
Tommy heard screaming and then he heard the gun, then he saw the cops pull up on his front lawn.
Tommy started running, trying not to turn around
But then he heard the cops, say “drop your gun on the ground”
Tommy looked and saw his dad with the gun at his head
And Tommy never forgot the last words his dad said,
“Tommy you do whatever you set your mind to,
I don’t know how long it’ll take but I’ll find you
But until then don’t let nobody tell you what to do and do what you want for you
Cuz if I die tonight I want you to know I aint go without a fight
And Imma make everything right tonight and when I die I aint want you to cry
So wipe those tears from your eye and remember what I said
and Imma come back after im dead
Then his dad moved the gun to the cops, away from his head,
But before he could pull the trigger he was shot dead.
Every cop shot him with at east one round
and he had twenty bullets before he hit the ground
Tommy started running now he’s all alone, never looking back at his once called home
Now its 4 years later and his feet are hurtin and burnin but he’s still running scared
Running without fear cuz no one ever cared
He had to go to school just to get something to eat
But he was fightin with every wangsta that he meet
And then he got every gangster at his feet and everyone that step up just get beat
He used to carry a knife, now he carries a peace
He had to make money so he sold some weed
and now he needs some weed so his body can feed
but now he cant quit cuz the sh** addicting
he can’t live without it, now it’s a need, and without the weed his body will bleed
a couple months later and now he quit and since he quit he aint going back to that sh**
Now hes singin bout everything that he did
And everything that happened when he was a kid hes rappin bout everything his dad said and how he saw his dad get shot dead
And hes rappin how it was groin up and now everyones callin hhis phones blowin up
And now everyone gets their hands and throws em up
He’s rappin so hard he wants to start throwin up
Then he gets his middle finger and he throws it up
And says wait sop I don’t I give a f***
Cuz where were you at when I was in need
Where were you at when I didn’t eat and now that I made it you beggin me please
Cuz now I got everyone on their knees
Im on the top of the stsage everyones surroundin me
Im in the middle and can barely breathe
now im standin on the world and for once its going my way
Und Tommy
der ist noch ein Kind
wie Kinder eben nun mal sind
und träumt von Rittern und von Feen
und sagt er habe sie gesehn
und will ein Fußballstar mal sein
ein Tiefseetaucher
ein Pilot
und übers Meer will er allein
in einem kleinen Segelboot.
Und Tommy
der ist noch ein Kind
wie Kinder eben nun mal sind
was der für Fragen stellen kann
warum wohin woher wie wann
sag mal
warum sind Blumen bunt
wo geht der Tag des Nachts denn hin
warum ist denn die Sonne rund
sag mal
hat alles einen Sinn.
Und Tommy
der ist noch ein Kind
doch nicht wie andre Kinder sind
er spielt mit seiner Phantasie
auf Beinen stehn wird Tommy nie
wenn Mama ihn nach Hause rollt
dann kann er das noch nicht verstehn
und schaut sie lange an und schmollt:
Mama
warum kann ich nicht gehn.
Die Wolken ziehen schwer und breit
ich hör viel von Gerechtigkeit
von Gut und Böse und Moral
den Wolken ist das wohl egal
warum
warum ist alles so
warum nicht anders
warum so
und mein Gehirn kann nicht verstehn
was meine Augen täglich sehn.
When I was young I had a friend
We were always together, Tommy and me
We trusted each other, did everything together
Smoked stolen cigarettes, taught each other to fight
Broke windows and escaped on rusty bikes
To the docks, where we fished until the sun went down
But Tommy is dead now, the police killed him
He lies dead and cold on the floor of a cell
One day Tommy moved away, and I lost a friend
It was a bad place his family moved to
The years past and Tommy grew cold and sad
Problems and pills was all he had in the end
He was seen alive, for the last time
A new year's ewe when the cops dragged him away
The next morning his mother's phone rang:
Your son has been found dead in a detention cell
The Danish police killed Tommy
And when cops kill, they investigate themselves
When they cut Tommy open and found drugs in his blood
They congratulated each other, and smiled relieved
They had all they needed to cover their tracks
In court they just said: O.D. and they walked free
Because the judge was in agreement with the police:
Tommy was a preacher’s son
Now he's running through the jungle "yes sir!"
Fingers cold and fire
When you get so tired and we're so tired
Lazing back in this desert
Waitin’ for that sunny day
Tommy was a preacher’s son
Now he's running through the streets sellin’ up that cocaine
Those fires will get ya
When you get too tired and we're so tired
Eyes blister beaded fortress rolling fevered freight trains in
Well I met three men with friends in office
Smooth dark skin and ivory teeth smiles
Our boots come alive in this mud and this shit
"Life is hard to fill with teeth that bite and eat up our fears"
Through August fall of ‘69
Jesus had birthed him
He spoke in guns through crippled sheets
For Jesus had birthed him
Sugar cubes fingernails worming snakes that built the fire

This can't continue, It makes no sense
We're getting nowhere, I've lost all my confidence
The boy wants something, I'm satisfied
He needs attention and care our love can't provide
And then there's the matter of us.
I'd like to prove that I don't feel that you've seen the best of me
I've stood up for the boy and I've clung to the hopes and the lies
I wish that the pain in your gaze could again be a test of me
But when I look in the mirror
I believe my own eyes.
I believe my own eyes
Know I've come to the end
All my patience is gone
When I'm doubtful I tend,
To believe my own eyes
I'd like to declare this devotion and care is the life to live
That nothing has changed and that time isn't passing us by
But I have to say here that for us,
There's a clear-cut alternative
When we look at each other, we believe our own eyes.
I believe my own eyes
Know I've come to the end
All my patience is gone
When I'm doubtful I tend
To believe my own eyes.
This has gone far enough
After all we've been through
We can't be blamed,
We've done all we can humanly do
It's a time to be tough
A time to be wise
We must stop chasing false dreams,
and recover our lives.
I believe my own eyes
Know I've come to the end
All my patience is gone
When I'm doubtful I tend
To believe
I'd like to believe that I don't feel that we've seen the best of us
And the way to believe is to see where the real future lies
I hope that the pain in your gaze can again be a test of us
But when I look in the mirror
I believe my own eyes
Let's believe our own eyes
Know we've come to the end
All our patience is gone
Let's admit we intend
To believe our own eyes
To believe our own eyes

Lonely in your wardrobe, hanging there since '99
You've probably forgotten me and how you taught me your words so fine
Home sweet home was on your lap, something you wouldn't understand
The shows we did near or for - we drove the globe in your red car
It's needless to say I'm on my own
Since you've got nothing for me to say
I was your best friend in the 90'ies
But still not thrown away
The times of fame and fortune all have passed or at least I wish
Setting your friend aside while I sek aside your teddy bear
It's needless to say I'm on my own
Since you've got nothing for me to say
I was your best friend in the 90'ies
But still not thrown away
But I'm brobably your favorite so I'll keep smiling
For all I can do is put on a happy face
It's needless to say I'm on my own
Since you've got nothing for me to say
I was your best friend in the 90'ies

God knows where he got it from
He got it back in 61
Man that boys in trouble
He's been left here on his own
Tommy boy he is all alone
He makes him worse, should not been born
And is still awake
He learned to fight not to run
He's not scared of anyone
It seems so long, so long ago
Where has he to go?
The police are on Tommy's back
They say he has been doing crack
He says it gets his mind on track
Now his lifes a ....
Tommy boy is now doing time
He says he didnt commit the crime
Jack says hes no friend of mine
He's got no real friends
He learned to fight not to run
He's not scared of anyone
It seems so long, so long ago
Where has he to go?
(x2)
Bad boys and addicted trouble
He's sinking like a stone
Yeah he's going nowhere
Bad boys and addicted trouble
He's got no place to go
And he's going nowhere
(x2)
We lie in this salty embrace
A sunny day, this special place
Tonight the sea is ours
And restless with sand in our shoes
A golden mile, that special smile
Asleep in a lover's arms
And if heaven sent a kiss
Would it be something like this?
Would it soar above the waves?
Is that how a kiss behaves?
Is that how a kiss behaves?
And colours so icy and bright
Are swimming round my head tonight
A clear and sleepy tide
But watch with a heavier heart
As I try to tear it all apart
With a greed that's all my own
And if heaven sent a kiss
Would it be something like this?
Would it soar above the waves?
Is that how a kiss behaves?
Is that how a kiss behaves?
Why don't you tell me?
(N. Bottini)
She closed the door of their house
She didn't make any noise
Then she looked at the clock in the street
It was 5 a.m., the air was quite cold
She had no bags in her hands
On her face were no tears
But she kissed her man twice when she left
He was sleepin' in the warmth of their bed
Now she's gone
CHORUS:
Oh Tommy, oh Tommy
Just sit and wait for her at home
Oh Tommy, oh Tommy
She will come back when she has grown
Slept for a while on that bus
She didn't know where it was goin'
Just knew that it was goin' to take her away
And away was enough
She didn't care about love
About what she once had in her life
Just wanted to find something to soothe the hunger
That burned in her heart
Man, she's gone
CHORUS
Once more he found that
Tomorrow is always so fleeting
She left him with thousands of questions
But carried the answers with her
Wonderin' about what is right
He just waits for the day when
His love will be weakened enough
And the pain will turn into anger
Yeah, she's gone

Tommy Shea
Tommy Shea
Now Tommy Shea was just 22 years old
Sketchy lanky blonde brave and bold
He walked the strip of Newbury Street in Boston
He never noticed me cause I was a kid and only 10 now
He used to skank it up like I never ever saw
That Tommy kid yeah he really had really fucking had it all
Black boots flak jacket shaved head and all
That kid was a wrecking shop
Yeah he was a fucking wall
Remember when Tommy used to say
Oi Oi
Remember when Tommy used to scream
Oi Oi
I throw my Pac-Man shirt on (I throw my Pac-Man shirt on)
My cordoroys and my velcro on my feet
Because I never knew what was going on (what's going on)
Until I found Boston's own Middle East
Because upstairs downstairs I didn't give a care
I was happy just hearing all the ska blare
A funny thing a thing that made me just so fat so
In 82 I guess it's worth it to take a look back
Remember when Tommy used to say
Oi Oi
Remember when Tommy used to scream
Oi Oi
Tommy kicked ass in 82
He kicked ass in 82
Tommy kicked ass in 82
That's right he kicked ass in 82
Hey Tommy where did you go
I wanna find you to let you know
This sketchy song is just for you
I'm not kidding I really wanna find you
Hey Tommy where did you go
I wanna find you to let you know
This sketchy song is just for you
I'm not kidding I used to wanna be like you
Remember when Tommy used to say
Oi Oi
Remember when Tommy used to scream
Oi Oi
Tommy kicking ass I said in 82 well all right now
I said he kicked ass in 82 that's right
I said he kicked ass in 82 come on
Heavens above, his mother would say
My Tommy's in love, he's moody all day
He's out of his mind, suspended in time
But he tries alibis and he tries to explain, sayin'
Let me go, let me
Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go
And he tries little lies then he tries to refrain, sayin'
Let me go, let me
Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go
Listen to me, his mother would say
You're young and in love, it won't last that way
You're only a boy, you'll grow up in time
But he tries alibis and he tries to explain, sayin'
Let me go, let me
Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go
And he tries little lies, then he tries to refrain, sayin'
Let me go, let me
Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go
Tommy's in love, he's always that way
Whatever he does, if only he'd say
He's feelin' so fine, she's lookin' so sweet
But he tries alibis and he tries to explain, sayin'
Let me go, let me
Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go
And he tries little lies, then he tries to refrain, sayin'
Let me go, let me
Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go
And he tries alibis then he tries to explain, sayin'
Let me go, let me
Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go
And he tries little lies, then he tries to refrain, sayin'
