Dan Geer is a computer security analyst and risk management specialist. He is recognized for raising awareness of critical computer and network security issues before the risks were widely understood, and for ground-breaking work on the economics of security.
Geer is currently the chief information security officer for In-Q-Tel, a not-for-profit venture capital firm that invests in technology to support the Central Intelligence Agency.
In 2003, Geer's 24-page report entitled "CyberInsecurity: The Cost of Monopoly" was released by the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA). The paper argued that Microsoft's dominance of desktop computer operating systems is a threat to national security. Geer was fired (from consultancy @Stake) the day the report was made public. Geer has cited subsequent changes in the Vista operating system (notably a location-randomization feature) as evidence that Microsoft "accepted the paper."
Geer received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, where he was a member of the Theta Deuteron charge of Theta Delta Chi fraternity. He also received a Sc.D. in biostatistics from Harvard, and has worked for:
Richard Heinberg is an American journalist and educator who has written extensively on energy, economic, and ecological issues, including oil depletion. He is the author of ten books. He serves as the senior fellow at the Post Carbon Institute.
Heinberg, after two years in college and a period of personal study, became personal assistant to Immanuel Velikovsky in November 1979 and after Velikovsky's death assisted Mrs. Velikovsky editing manuscripts. He published his first book in 1989, Memories and Visions of Paradise: Exploring the Universal Myth of a Lost Golden Age, which was the result of ten years of study of world mythology. An expanded second edition was published in 1995. He began publishing his alternative newsletter, the MuseLetter, in 1992. His next book was published in 1993: Celebrate the Solstice: Honoring the Earth's Seasonal Rhythms through Festival and Ceremony.
In June 1995, speaking to the International Society for the Comparative Study of Civilizations in Dayton, Ohio, Heinberg provided "A Primitivist Critique of Civilization" and discussed the ways in which "We are, it would seem, killing the planet."

She'll dive into anything
She's got the golden ring
She's got the moon in her hair
To touch her is permanent
Salt on her satin skin
It's all okay when she's there
I don't want to
But I have to
Leave it all up in the air
When she comes in waves
And then slips away
And I wish she'd stay
But you can't always get what you want
And she comes in waves
Here she comes
She's pretty when she smiles
And it goes on for miles
Finds me wherever I am
Then I wake up alone
Like a bird that has flown
Into something I don't understand
Check the rear-view mirror
Watch it all wash away once again
When she comes in waves
And then slips away
And I wish she'd stay
But you can't always get what you want
And she comes in waves
Don't know what I'm doing
It's pushing and pulling me underneath
It's hard to breathe
And I know that tonight
I'll be thinking it might
Be the last time that she leaves
She's here when she's here, then she's gone
When she comes in waves
And then slips away
And I wish she'd stay
But you can't always get what you want
And she comes in waves
Here she comes
Here she comes
We'll run, we'll dance, we'll fly.
This is our time.
We'll stay all day, all night,
Side by side.
C'mon, we're gone.
So put your hand in mine.
Pushing on towards the sun.
Let's come undone.
I get such a rush.
It's almost too much.
Locked into a moment in frozen time.
I get such a rush.
All I feel is love.
I want your universe to collide with mine.
Just take a look around.
There's only now.
We can't go back.
It's lost but look at what we found.
We're here inside the fire.
We're burning bright,
Perfect and forever young.
Let's come undone
I get such a rush.
It's almost too much.
Locked into a moment in frozen time.
I get such a rush.
All I feel is love.
I want your universe to collide with mine.
Let it go.
Let it go baby.
Here we go.
Here we go baby.
Let it go.
Let it all come undone.
I get such a rush.
It's almost too much.
Locked into a moment in frozen time.
I get such a rush.
All I feel is love.
I want your universe to collide with mine.
I could stay here in the darkness
to dream all alone
But the daylight follows
wherever you go
I could fade out and back down
like I always do
I can't take the chance of losing you, no
Now I couldn't lose you
I don't wanna wait for something I want
A minute too late, the moment is gone
I don't wanna be stuck in my head
With nothing to show
I don't wanna wait for something I need
And maybe I don't know what I'm doin'
But it's the sweetest confusion
It could be I'm crazy, got lost in your eyes
yeah it could be I'm headed for a painful suprise
And the clock ticks on, the days are gone
You're out on your own
It's why I can't keep letting you go, no
Baby all I know
And time keeps wasting away
Silently fading
I don't wanna wait for something I want
(Where you are the daylight follows)
I don't wanna wait for something I need
(I don't wanna dream alone)
I don't wanna wait for something I need
And maybe I don't know what I'm doin'
It's the sweetest confusion, oh
Everything seems ok
His playing the perfect game
Everything is black and white
Leaving for a while
The silence is beautiful
At the centre of his whole world
No one is welcome in
The place is alone
When you feel the light surround you
Don't push the chance away
Close your eyes
And say you'll come with me
Realise
Maybe you're not alone in this
You won't know until you hold on tight
And begin to see
Realise this world wont wait for you and me
The world won't wait for you and me
She never asked for this
Craving for one last kiss
Captured in everyway
Broken and ashamed
A whisper came from within
So desperate so deafening
In the arms of her angels now and she knows
When you feel the light surround you
Don't push the chance away
Close your eyes
And say you'll come with me
Realise
Maybe you're not alone in this
You won't know until you hold on tight
And begin to see
Realise this world wont wait for you and me
The world won't wait for you and me
Just close your eyes
Close your eyes
And say you'll come with me
Realise,
Maybe you're not alone in this
You won't know until you hold on tight
And begin to see
Realise maybe your not alone in this
You won't know until you close your eyes
And say you'll come with me
Realise this world wont wait for you and me
Save your breath
I see the storm comin'
I feel the clouds closin'n
Hush your mouth. I'll find the words for you
Oh your poor heart don't feel the same
We'll still be friends
But I'm alone again
So you don't have to say
What you're thinkin now
Baby don't be afraid
I'll try and make it easy for you
I'll cry the tears a little later on
You don't need to worry
I know I have been replaced
It's written all over your face
You wish you could
Feel the way that I do
You never meant to hurt me
The clichés good. Theres someone out there waiting
Oh that I'll find along the way
But I thought that was you?
Yet I'm alone again
So you don't have to say
What you're thinkin' now
Baby don't be afraid
I'll try and make it easy for you
I'll cry the tears a little later on
You don't need to worry
I know I have been replaced
It's written all over your face
It's the hardest thing
You've ever had to do
You just wanna tell the truth
Well that's nice of you
But you don't have to say
What you're thinkin' now
Baby don't be afraid
You were always there.
Why did they take you away?
I was never scared
In your arms i felt invincible
Wanted you to see, the world beneath my feet
I wish that you could stay
I would tell you; you're unbelievable
And i want you to know
You're who i wanna be
And I'll sing with everything
I have inside of me
You're always in my heart
There's no letting go
You gotta know
You're unforgettable (you're unforgettable)
They say I've got your eyes,
Still it's so hard to see.
I couldn't even say goodbye,
Cause you were taken without even letting go.
This crimson,
Runs through my veins.
It's your life,
Your the energy.
And i want you to know
You're who i wanna be
And I'll sing with everything
I have inside of me
You're always in my heart
There's no letting go
You gotta know
You're unforgettable
I just need to hear you speak
Hold onto my hand
There's nothing in between us
I know you're thinking of me
You'll be there when i reach
And i want you to know
You're who i wanna be
And I'll sing with everything
I have inside of me
You're always in my heart
There's no letting go
You gotta know
You're unforgettable
And i want you to know
You're who i wanna be
And I'll sing with everything
I have inside of me
You're always in my heart
There's no letting go
You gotta know
All the maps on the wall
Are held there with pins
To show where we've been.
A box of our memories
Are packed by the door,
The end of our war.
As I watch you sleep
your hand still reaches for mine.
You are so beautiful,
You are,
I want you to know
I won't let it go,
I won't let it slip
Any day of the week.
I should not talk
But I would like to say,
I want you to know
I want you to stay
Here
Our songs that we've sung
like a slip of the tongue
Forgotten old time
so give, give me your best shot
put me to the test, the bullet proof vest
You are so beautiful,
You are,
I want you to know
I won't let it go,
I won't let it slip
Any day of the week
I should not talk
But I would like to say
I want you to know
I want you to stay
Here
If you give the word
If you sense a sign
To come back this way
To come today
Just give me the word
Just give me the sign
Oh yeah yeah
I want you to know
I won't let it go
I won't let it slip
Any day of the week
I should not talk
But I would like to say
I want you to know
I want you to stay
I was young then
But I remember when
When I'd need to hide away
I had a secret place I'd go
Where I could just be on my own
And I didn't feel afraid
But even though I'm older now and things have changed
When I'm in your arms I'm right back there again
You're the place that I can run to
When I need somewhere to hide
You're my compass and my lifeline
All wrapped into one
You're where I feel safe
You're my secret place
You're my secret place
When no one understands
And I feel like half a man
And I can't make it through the day
When nothing's makiing sense
And my soul is bruised and bent
And I've lost all of my faith
You always seem to find a way to get me through
All I know is I'm a better man with you
You're the place that I can run to
(You'rer where I belong)
When I need somewhere to hide
(The road that takes me home)
You're my compass and my lifeline
All wrapped into one
You're where I feel safe
You're my secret place
You're my secret place
You're my only shelter from the rain
You're the silver lining to my grey
And when the storm is oover
You're the sunlight onn my face
You're the dream I try to chase
You're the place that I can run to
(You'rer where I belong)
When I need somewhere to hide
(The road that takes me home)
You're my compass and my lifeline
All wrapped into one
You're where I feel safe
You're my secret place
I don’t know
How to feel
Let the words
Come easily to me
You seem lost
In your thoughts
I find it hard to breath
Why won’t you tell me what it is
It’s driving me crazy trying
To second guess you
Don’t say you love me
I don’t believe it
Don’t say the words
If you don’t mean it
Don’t wanna hear it
Out in the open
Keep it inside
If you don’t mean it
Don’t even wanna talk about it
I know that I could live without it
If it’s right
If it’s wrong
Will someone let me know
It’s a game
I can play
Do I just let you go
Maybe it’s just the way it is
‘Cause I get the feeling that you
Know it’s over
Don’t say you love me
I don’t believe it
Don’t say the words
If you don’t mean it
Don’t wanna hear it
Out in the open
Keep it inside
If you don’t mean it
Don’t even wanna talk about it
I know that I could live without it
I just don’t wanna talk about it
God knows
I could live without it
If you don’t mean it
You gotta let me know
Don’t say the words
If you don’t mean it
Don’t wanna hear it
Out in the open
Can’t take it back
If you don’t mean it
Don’t even wanna talk about it
I know that I could live without it
Don’t say the words
If you don’t mean it
Don’t wanna hear it
How you feel
If there's chance to make it
Either way I'll take it to be by her side
To swim in her affection, bathe in her attention
Could she be mine?
Can I look through into her eyes, into her disguise?
Does she see me, how can I make her realise
She takes me to higher ground,
And I'll never come back down
If I had a moment I'd show her all that we could have
But we're still strangers, but we're still strangers
Do you know I'm waiting?
Right here for the taking
I'll play my part
Don't leave me out here stranded with a love abandoned
This could be a start
Can I look through into your eyes, into your disguise?
Do you see me, how can I make you realise
You take me to higher,
She takes me to higher ground,
And I'll never come back down
If I had a moment I'd show her all that we could have
But we're still strangers, but falling for you
If I had my way
You'd be in my arms
And she takes me to higher ground,
And I'll never come back down.
She takes me to higher ground,
And she's everything I wanted.
She takes me to higher ground,
And I'll never come back down.
If I had a moment I would show her all that we could have.
She takes me to higher ground,
And I'll never come back down.
If I had a moment I'd show her all that we could have.
The strands in your eyes
that colour them wonderful
stop me and steal my breath
emeralds from mountains
that first touch the sky
never revealing their deaths
tell me that we belong together
dress it up, with the trappings of love
ill be captivated, ill hang from your lips
instead of shallowed heartache
from heartache that hangs from above
ill be your crying shoulder
ill be loves suicide
and ill be better when im older
ill be the greatest fan of your life
Rain falls angry on the tinned roof
as we lye awake in my bed
your my survival, your my living proof
that love is alive and not dead
so tell me that we belong together
dress it up with the trappings of love
ill be captivated, ill hang from your lips
instead of shallowed heartache
from heartache that hangs from above
ill be your crying shoulder
ill be loves suicide
and ill be better when im older
ill be the greatest fan of your life
and i dropped out, ive burned up
ive fought my way back from the dead
and i tuned in, i turned on
remember the things that you say
cuz ill be your crying shoulder
ill be loves suicide
and ill be better when im older
ill be the greatest fan of you life
ill be your crying shoulder
ill be loves suicide
and ill be better when im older
So let me get my head straight
I think I'm gonna breakdown
You see I'm crazy and I don't know why
I don't know if it's ever
Ever gonna make sense
To close my eyes
And walk behind
Round and round we go
But we're getting nowhere
I can't be
All you need
Up and down we go
But I'm changing nothing
I can't be you
Been searching for a new face
It's something I don't wanna change
It's the one thing I can never hide
I gotta a ticket for the next plane
And I'm standing on the runway
I cannot move
I still feel you
Round and round we go
But we're getting nowhere
I can't be
All you need
Up and down we go
But I'm changing nothing
Your silhouette it haunts me now
A thousand times a day
Skin from tears of days the past are all that still remain
Seems nothings gonna change round here
The way I feel, I'm feeling now
Your photographs they taunt me now
Portray my yesterdays
Frozen by the same old fears that keep me in this space
Is there nothing I can do or say to change you mind?
Girl, to make you mine
I'd give anything to see you again
I'd give everything to hold you
Angel, won't you save me from myself?
Coz the words I've spoken left me broken now
Angel only you know how
Shadows of a distant past dance around the room
All these walls are empty now but for memories of you
Is there nothing I can do or say to change you mind?
Girl, to make you mine
I'd give anything to see you again
I'd give everything to hold you
Angel, won't you save me from myself?
Coz the words I've spoken left me broken now
Angel wont you save me? Save me!
My soul has spoken
I cant turn back now
Angel, what I've said and done
I cannot hide except in stone and its just in time
And I plea with you just one more chance to show you who I am
Angel wont you save me? Save me!
Coz the words I've spoken left me broken now
Angel wont you save me from myself
Won't you give me your hand?
Coz only you know how
