Shenyang

Shenyang (simplified Chinese: 沈阳; traditional Chinese: 瀋陽; pinyin:  Shěnyáng), formerly known by its Manchu name Mukden (Manchu: ᠮᡠᡴᡩᡝᠨ), and Chinese names Shengjing (Chinese: 盛京; pinyin: Shèngjīng) and Fengtian (Chinese: 奉天; pinyin: Fèngtiān), is the provincial capital and largest city of Liaoning Province, as well as the largest city in Northeast China by urban population. According to the 2010 census, the city's urban area has 6.3 million inhabitants, while the total population of the Shenyang municipality is up to 8.1 million. In the 17th century, Shenyang was conquered by the Manchu people and briefly used as the capital of the Qing dynasty.

Along with its nearby cities, Shenyang is an important industrial centre in China, and serves as the transportation and commercial hub of China's northeast—particularly with Japan, Russia, and Korea. A center of heavy industry in China since the 1930s, and the spearhead of the Chinese central government's Northeast Area Revitalization Plan, the city has been diversifying its industry and now has a solid industrial foundation, a good land and air transport network, abundant natural resources, and a skilled workforce.

Shen Yang (simplified Chinese: 沈阳; traditional Chinese: 沈陽; pinyin: Shěn Yáng; born January 23, 1989 in Nanjing, Jiangsu) is a Chinese chess player who holds the titles of International master and Woman Grandmaster.

Shen Yang plays for Jiangsu chess club in the China Chess League (CCL).

Career

In 2001, she won the U-12 Girls section of the World Youth Chess Championship in Spain.

A notable game occurred in the World Team Chess Championship, held in Beersheba, Israel on October–November 2005, where Shen - then rated 2326 - managed to defeat 2652-rated Russian GM Sergei Rublevsky.

In the May–June 2006 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin she was part of the Chinese team that came third in the women's section.

In October 2006, she won the Girls' World Junior Championship in Yerevan, Armenia.

In May 2007, she was part of the Chinese team that won the first Women's World Team Chess Championship in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

In the Russian Team Championship Shen plays for the women's team of ACADEMY Tomsk on Board 2.

Xiaoshenyang

Shen He (born 7 May 1981), better known by his stage name Xiaoshenyang (Chinese: 小沈阳; pinyin: Xiǎoshěnyáng; literally: "Little Shenyang"), is a Chinese actor. He was a student of Zhao Benshan and was an errenzhuan performer before joining the film and television industry. His teacher, Zhao Benshan, is a widely recognized comedian. Zhao`s company, Benshan Media, stives to promote and preserve the art of Errenzhuan. This is a traditional form of Chinese entertainment, over the years through everyone in Benshan Media, it is gradually gaining influence.

Xiaoshenyang became famous immediately in China after the 2009 CCTV New Year's Gala, where he stole the thunder from Zhao playing an effeminate restaurant waiter in a skit. He also showed off his considerable vocal prowess. He continued to attend the CCTV New Year's Gala during the following three years, and now attends New Year's Gala in Beijing TV and Liaoning TV.

Shen He changed his name to "Xiaoshenyang" to show his sincerity for his wife—the name was based on his wife's name, "Shen Chunyang". "Yang" means sun, therefore, his fans are the "Yangguang" ("Sunshine")
