International concern -- and diplomacy -- over Iran's nuclear program have focused largely on Tehran's growing abilities to enrich uranium, a process essential for both peaceful nuclear energy and to make a bomb. But a second key issue is the Islamic Republic's ability to actually deliver the world's deadliest weapon if it decides to make a bomb. Here are four essentials to know about Iran's ballistic missile program: Is Iran capable of striking the United States with a ballistic missile? No. Iran has focused its attention on developing short- and medium-range missiles capable of reaching targets throughout the Persian Gulf and Israel, which is about 600 miles (1,000 km) away. The Ghadr-1 -- a modified version of the No-dong missile Iran purchased from North Korea -- is Iran's longest-range, operational missile. It can deliver a warhead to roughly 1,000 miles (1,600 km). The Sajjil-2 is expected to fly about 1,200-1,400 miles (2,000-2,300 km). However, the Sajjil will not be ready for military use until it completes several more years of testing. There is no evidence to suggest that Iran is actively developing an ocean-spanning, intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of reaching America's east coast, more than 5,400 miles (9,000 km) away. If Iran decides to develop the capacity to threaten the United States, a decade or more of technology development and testing will be needed to create a combat ready ICBM. But didn't an unclassified Defense Department report say that Iran could have an ICBM by 2015? The April 2010 Department of Defense report to Congress said, "With sufficient foreign assistance, Iran could probably develop and test an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of reaching the United States by 2015." The key words are "develop and test." The report does not say Iran will have an operational ICBM by 2015. Iran could conduct a preliminary, proof-of-concept test of a missile capable of reaching the United States in 2015. The technology demonstrator would likely be relatively unsophisticated, cumbersome, and unreliable. And if Iran wanted to transform the missile into a military asset, it would have to be submitted to a lengthy testing program to verify its reliability and operational readiness. Flight-test programs in other countries rarely take fewer than three years, most take longer. Iran is no different. Recent testing programs for the Shahab-3 and Ghadr-1 lasted five years each, and they were much simpler systems. Consequently, Iran is unlikely to field an operational ICBM before 2020. Is Iran's space program a cover for the development of long-range ballistic missiles? Iran has an ambitious space program, to be sure, and is making steady progress toward its officially stated goal of launching a man into space within a decade. In early 2008, Iran placed a small satellite into earth orbit using the domestically developed, two-stage Safir space launcher. Last year, with great fanfare, Tehran unveiled a much larger satellite carrier rocket, the Simorgh, whose maiden voyage of is scheduled for February or March 2011. Still larger launchers are almost certainly on the drawing boards of Iran's space agency. The technologies used to launch satellites can also be used to develop ballistic missiles, so there is good reason to be concerned about Iran's space activities. The Simorgh, for example, could in theory be converted into an intermediate-range missile capable of reaching most of Europe from Iranian territory. Space launcher and ballistic missiles are founded on similar technologies, but there are many fundamental differences between the two systems. For starters, space launchers are normally prepared for flight over a period of many weeks, components and sub-systems can be checked and verified before launch, and the mission commander can wait for ideal weather before initiating the countdown. And if during the countdown an anomaly is encountered, the launch can be delayed, the problem fixed and the process restarted. Think of how many times a Space Shuttle launch has been delayed for one reason or another.

Some western observers have accused Tehran of exaggerating its space program. The satellite called Omid, or hope in Farsi, was launched late Monday on Feb 2nd 2009 (Washington time) after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave the order to proceed. The satellite was taken into orbit by a Safir-2, or ambassador-2 rocket, which was first tested in August and has a range of 155 miles (250 kilometers). Omid is Iran's second satellite in orbit. A previous Iranian satellite, Sinah 1, was built and launched for Iran by Russia in 2005. Title: Pyongyang conducts new engine test for KN-08 ICBM: 38 North We begin with North Korea this afternoon… Reports coming out of Washington suggest the regime has conducted another engine test for the KN-08 - North Korea′s intercontinental ballistic missile. Pyongyang is also suspected to have upgraded one of its major rocket launching sites. Ji Myung-kil has our top story. U.S.-based think tank 38North says satellite imagery shows the missile′s first stage engine was tested in mid August at the Sohae launch site in North Korea′s northwestern Tongchang-ri region. This adds to a series of engine tests Pyongyang has carried out since 2013. It remains unclear how successful these tests have been though. Security expert Joel Wit, who runs the 38 North website at Johns Hopkins University, says North Korea could be moving on to full-scale tests of the KN-08 because these kind of engine tests are normally stepping stones to that end. The missile is believed to have a range of at least five-and-a-half thousand kilometers which means the U.S. state of Alaska is within its range. North Korea is not only testing engines either. It has also completed a major program to upgrade the Sohae satellite launching station that begun late last year. A gantry tower was raised to 55 meters by adding three new platforms to handle up to 50 meter-long rockets. The existing launch pad has been upgraded to launch rockets even larger than the Unha-3 North Korea sent into space in late 2012. With the completion of the engine test,... 38North says Pyongyang may decide to test-fire another rocket before the year is out. Die beiden Spiele wurden am 7. Mai 2014 vorgestellt und werden am 28. November 2014 in Europa erscheinen. Wie ihre beiden Vorgänger Pokémon X und Y werden Omega Rubin und Alpha Saphir nur teilweise den 3D-Effekt nutzen. Das erste Bildmaterial aus den Spielen wurde drei Tage nach der offiziellen Ankündigung ausgestrahlt. Es handelt sich um einen Teaser mit Kyogre und Groudon, in dem diese beiden legendären Pokémon das Wetter beeinflussen. Das Spiel findet wie schon Pokémon Rubin und Saphir in der Hoenn-Region statt, die auf der japanischen Region Kyūshū basiert und aus einer Insel und einem ziemlich großen Meer besteht. Wie in Pokémon-Spielen üblich ist es auch in diesem Ableger das Ziel eine Verbrecherorganisation aufzuhalten und Champ der Pokémonliga zu werden. Die Verbrecherorganisation hängt dieses Mal jedoch wie schon in Pokémon Rubin und Saphir von der Edition ab. In Omega Rubin ist diese Team Magma, die das Ziel hat das Land zu vergrößern, während in Alpha Saphir Team Aqua die Verbrecherorganisation darstellt, die versucht die Meere zu vergrößern. Die Handlung des Spiels, die sich sehr an Pokémon Rubin und Saphir orientiert, beginnt damit, dass der Protagonist in nach Wurzelheim in der Hoenn-Region umzieht. Der Vater des Protagonisten, Norman, leitet dort in der Stadt Blütenburg City eine Pokémon-Arena. Bei der Wahl des Protagonisten kann zwischen dem männlichen Protagonisten Brix und dem weiblichen Protagonisten Maike entschieden werden, der Name ist jedoch frei wählbar. Daraufhin lernt der Spieler seinen Rivalen kennen, welcher der Sohn oder die Tochter von Professor Birk, dem Pokémon-Professor der Region ist, und schon Erfahrung als Trainer hat. Bei der Wahl von Brix als Protagonist nimmt hierbei Maike die Position als Rivale ein , bei der Wahl von Maike ist es dementsprechend umgekehrt. Daraufhin bekommt der Spieler vom Professor, der gerade von einem wilden Pokémon angegriffen wird, sein erstes Pokémon, um den Professor zu retten. Dabei kann der Spieler zwischen den drei Pokémon Geckarbor, Flemmli und Hydropi wählen., welche alle in ihrer letzten Entwicklungsstufe eine Mega-Entwicklung ausführen können. Nachdem er den Professor gerettet hat, macht sich der Protagonist auf die Suche nach seien Rivalen und trägt daraufhin seinen ersten Pokémon-Kampf gegen diesen aus. Daraufhin beginnt der Spieler seine Reise durch die Hoenn-Region. In Blütenburg City trifft man erstmals auf Norman, den Vater des Protagonisten, welcher dort eine Pokémon-Arena leitet, welche der Spieler aber noch nicht herausfordert. Hier trifft man auch erstmals auf Heiko, der einen weiteren Rivalen darstellt und den der Spieler beim Fang seines ersten Pokémon unterstützt. Daraufhin setzt der Protagonist seine Reise fort. Kurz vor Metarost City, wo die erste Arena liegt, trifft der Spieler erstmals im Blütenburgwald auf ein Mitglied von Team Aqua, dessen Absichten der Spieler an dieser Stelle aber vereiteln kann. Im weiteren Spielverlauf muss der Spieler je nach Edition Tem Aqua oder Team Magma bekämpfen und die Leiter aller 8 Pokémon-Arenen besiegen, um Champ zu werden. Dabei spielen wie in Pokémon Rubin und Saphir die legendären Pokémon Groudon und Kyogre eine große Rolle, die nun nach einer Protomorphose eine zusätzliche Form annehmen können. Eine weitere wichtige Rolle nimmt Rayquaza ein, welches eine Verbindung zum Geheimnis der Mega-Entwicklung besitzt. Auch der Champ der Pokémon-Liga, Troy Trumm, soll sich mit der Mega-Entwicklung befassen und soll in der Lage sein, sein Metagross in seine Mega-Form zu entwickeln.

Iranian Omid Satellite Placed In Orbit By Safir 2 Rocket. Iran has successfully sent its first domestically made satellite into orbit, another development in the country's ambitious space program that has worried many international observers. Some western observers have accused Tehran of exaggerating its space program. The satellite called Omid, or hope in Farsi, was launched late Monday on Feb 2nd 2009 (Washington time) after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave the order to proceed. The satellite was taken into orbit by a Safir-2, or ambassador-2 rocket, which was first tested in August and has a range of 155 miles (250 kilometers). Omid is Iran's second satellite in orbit. A previous Iranian satellite, Sinah 1, was built and launched for Iran by Russia in 2005. The first successful orbital launch using the Safir launch system took place on 2 February 2009 when a Safir-2 carrier rocket placed the Omid satellite into an orbit with a 245.2 km (152.4 mi) apogee.
A sub-orbital test flight, named Kavoshgar-1 (Persian: کاوشگر ۱, "Explorer-1"), was conducted on 4 February 2008, as announced by state-run television. A launch on 25 February 2007, may also have been of the same type. The first flights carried instruments to measure the higher atmosphere. The rocket launched on 4 February 2008 was a liquid-propellant-driven rocket, probably a derivative of the Shahab-3, that reached an altitude of 200–250 km in space, and successfully returned science data according to the Iranian News Agency.
On 19 February 2008, Iran offered new information about the rocket and announced that Kavoshgar-1 used a two staged rocket. The first stage separated after 100 seconds and returned to earth with the help of a parachute. The second stage continued its ascent to the altitude of 200 kilometres. However it was not intended to reach orbital velocity.

A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle which obtains thrust from a rocket engine. In all rockets, the exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before use. Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forwards simply by throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast.
While comparatively inefficient for low speed use, rockets are relatively lightweight and powerful, capable of generating large accelerations and of attaining extremely high speeds with reasonable efficiency. Rockets are not reliant on the atmosphere and work very well in space.
Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.
