Monty Hall

The widely used method of Bayesian statistics is not as robust as commonly thought. Researcher Thijs van Ommen of Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) discovered that for certain types of problems, Bayesian statistics finds non-existing patterns in the data. Van Ommen defends his thesis on this topic on Wednesday 10 June at Leiden University.

Op 4 juni vond op het CWI de première plaats van de korte internetfilm “Remembering ARRA”: A pioneer in Dutch Computing”. De film is geproduceerd door Google en tot stand gekomen in samenwerking met het CWI. De film is vanaf vandaag openbaar via het Google Computing Heritage Youtube kanaal. Het historisch beeldmateriaal toont unieke beelden van het Nederlands informaticaerfgoed.
