Travel video about destination London in England. London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts. The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison. After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created. The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began. Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex. The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history.

Here it is, our pilot episode! Why am I doing this? I travel a lot. Too much. And recently I find myself rocking up in a city that I've never been to before and know very little about. On any level. Culture, language, transport, money, food, etc. But most travel shows are an hour-long, US-centric, full of bad information, and almost exclusively aimed at tourists. So I wanted to create something different. Something aimed at the frequent traveller, something portable and short-form. Something...useful. In our pilot episode we get you in, out, and around the wonderful city of London, England. We tell you the best way to get from the airport into the city, the best way to get around, how much things cost, and why you should ALWAYS stand on the right. In follow up episodes we'll be adding a food and drink segment, as well as tips on how to avoid those awkward social and business faux pas. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this and welcome any thoughts, feedback, ideas, and suggestions for future episodes. Travel is my passion and I'm excited to share it with you. Oh and don't forget to subscribe for new episodes in a city near you! Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/attache_travel Currency conversion tool: http://www.xe.com/

The sleepy residential suburb is conveniently located in South London and thanks to it's excellent transport links, it only takes 15 minutes to get here. Clapham high street is a great place to buy some gifts, there's a wide range of varied and exciting shops to check out. I also visited the 24 hour market on Venn Street. It's a great place to pick up some locally grown vegetables and freshly baked goods. Many travel to Clapham for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and if peace and quiet is what you're after then Clapham Common is the place for you. Anglo Saxons first settled on the common in 1887, now-a-days it's used purely for recreation and hosts many music festival. Whether you're into football or dogging, there's something for everyone on the common. Well I had a lovely day in Clapham and I'd highly recommend it to anyone. __________ Music: http://audiojungle.net/item/spanish-rhythmic-guitar/151349 / http://audiojungle.net/item/spanish-summer-dance/2421901

The Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals Cats and Evita are both returning to the West End of London, it was announced on Friday.
The Guardian 2014-06-27Patrick Halpin, from Galway, disappeared during a night out in the West End of London on Wednesday night.
The Guardian 2014-02-07London i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, the largest metropolitan area in the United Kingdom, and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures. Located on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its square-mile mediaeval boundaries. Since at least the 19th century, the name London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms the London region and the Greater London administrative area, governed by the elected Mayor of London and the London Assembly.
London is a leading global city, with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its prominence. It is the world's leading financial centre alongside New York City and has the fifth-largest city GDP in the world (and the largest in Europe). London has been described as a world cultural capital. It was the world's most visited city during 2011 and London Heathrow is the world's busiest airport by number of international passengers. London's 43 universities form the largest concentration of higher education in Europe. In 2012 London will become the first city to host the modern Summer Olympic Games three times.
The West End of London (more commonly referred to as simply the West End) is an area of central London containing many of the city's major tourist attractions, shops, businesses, government buildings, and entertainment venues (including the commercial West End theatres). Use of the term began in the early 19th century to describe fashionable areas to the west of Charing Cross. For strategic planning the area is identified as one of two international centres in the London Plan.
The West End is the most expensive location in the world in which to rent office space.
Located to the west of the historic Roman and Mediaeval City of London, the West End was long favoured by the rich elite as a place of residence because it was usually upwind of the smoke drifting from the crowded City. It was also located close to the royal seat of power at Westminster, and is largely contained within the City of Westminster (one of the 32 London boroughs). Developed in the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, it was originally built as a series of palaces, expensive town houses, fashionable shops and places of entertainment. The areas closest to the City around Holborn, Seven Dials and Covent Garden historically contained poorer communities that were cleared and redeveloped in the nineteenth century.
