http://exopolitics.org/corporate-bases-on-mars-and-nazi-infiltration-of-us-secret-space-program/
http://exopolitics.org/multiple-moon-bases-u-s-military-space-shuttles-as-cover-programs/
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=FREE+THE+COLONIES!&iso;=20150530T141111&p1;=137
Instruções:

Take a tour of Malacca A Famosa Ruins in Malacca, Malaysia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The ruins of the A Famosa fortress are an impressive piece of history, even though only the gatehouse remains.
This fort, built by the Portuguese in 1511, is located in Malacca, Malaysia, once a part of the Portuguese Empire.
Construction on the fort began almost immediately after the Portuguese captured Malacca, to prepare for potential resistance.
A Famosa later was transferred to Dutch control and then to British, who wanted to destroy it for strategic military reasons.
When pickaxes and crowbars proved to be insufficient to damage the walls, explosives were used in the demolition.
Near the end of the demolition, Sir Stamford Raffles was able to preserve the last bit of A Famosa, the gatehouse.

The History of Portugal by WanderTooth. We spent about 2 months in Portugal and found the stories of its history fascinating. From the first settlers, the Romans, the Moors, all the battles won and lost, Kings, Queens and other nobility and eras of dominance followed by eras of oppression. All of this has shaped the Portuguese people, from the food they eat, to the songs they sing, to they way they interact with others and so on. A visit is highly recommended and there is something for everyone. Landscapes, castles, Roman ruins, Port wine tasting, Fado music, beaches, and more. And being a relatively small country, everything is easily within reach! GO! ENJOY!

Travel video about destination Malaysia.
Malaysia is an exotic world located in the Far East, full of tradition and history. We begin our journey in Malacca, the oldest city on the southwest coast of the Peninsular Malaysia that boasts six hundred years of history. Both Portuguese and Jesuit settlers lived here for a hundred and thirty years and introduced their culture to the region. The city’s history dates back to 1403 when Hindu prince, Paramesware of the Sri Vijaya Realm in Sumatra, established a sultanate. The Chinese-dominated area of the city extends across the opposite banks of the river where the mainly two storey residential and business premises are densely packed together. In contrast, the Cheng Hoon Temple is one of the oldest temples in Malaysia and nearby is the Kampung Kling Mosque which is of ancient Sumatran design. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s modern capital city, is relatively young. It originated in the middle of the nineteenth century at the junction of two rivers. Chinese pioneers discovered an abundance of minerals here. Since then, however, things have much improved and Kuala Lumpur is now one of the cleanest cities in the world with two steel towers as its unmistakeable landmark, connected by an impressive bridge. Since 1926, tea has been cultivated in the Cameron Highlands where the mild and rainy climate is ideal for its growth. British surveyor, William Cameron, discovered this region in 1885 and soon afterwards its wooded hills were transformed into tea plantations that now attract tourists from all over the world. Sarawak is located in Borneo, the third largest island on the planet. We start our journey through this Malayan federal state, in the northwest of the island, in the capital, Kuching. The British Empire had various buildings constructed in the city but its ethnic groups were content to remain within their own surroundings. Malaysia is like a magnificent fairy tale, a melting pot of various cultures and ethnic groups amid abundant tropical vegetation. Although Malaysia has changed, it has not forgotten the rich traditions of its indigenous tribes yet it is now a country that is travelling into a new age.

Chinese admiral Zheng He was also traveling far and wide in the largest wooden ships ever built. Columbus, whether portrayed as hero or villain, is usually credited as the great sailor of the 15th century, but he definitely wasn't the only contender. What better way to settle this question than with a knock-down, drag-out, no holds barred, old-fashioned battle royal? We were going to make it a cage match, but welding is EXPENSIVE.

Sintra is approx. 25 km northwest of Lisbon and part of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra which became UNESCO world cultural heritage in 1995.
In the municipality of São Martinho you find the Royal Palace, Palácio Nacional de Sintra, essentially built by King Manuel I. It is known by the distinctive shape of the two chimneys.
Under the rule of Manuel I, Portugal developed into a world power. The sea route to India was discovered and the diplomatic representations were extended from Malacca to East Timor and Macao and thus broke the Arabs' trade monopoly for spices. In addition, Brazil was discovered and incorporated as a colony. As a result a considerable quantities of gold and silver came to Portugal.
The Seteais Palace, Palácio de Seteais, was built in 1787 by the Dutch Consul Daniel Gildemeester. In 1802, it was rebuilt in honor of Prince Regent John VI and Princess Carlota Joaquina in its present form. At present, it serves as a Tivoli Hotel.
The Monserrate Palace, Palácio de Monserrate, served as traditional summer residence of the Portuguese royal family. Its architecture was inspired by the Indian Mughal Empire and is unique in Portugal.
The Palácio National de Pena, which we show in a separate video, rises majestically above the landscape.

Porto (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpoɾtu]), also known as Oporto in English, is the second-largest city in Portugal, after Lisbon, and one of the major urban areas in Southwestern Europe. The urban area of Porto, which extends beyond the administrative limits of the city, has a population of 1.4 million (2011) in an area of 389 km2 (150 sq mi), making it the second-largest urban area in Portugal. Porto Metropolitan Area, on the other hand, includes an estimated 1.8 million people. It is recognized as a Gamma-level global city by the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) Study Group, the only Portuguese city besides Lisbon with such recognition.
Located along the Douro river estuary in Northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and its historical core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. The western part of its urban area extends to the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Its settlement dates back many centuries, when it was an outpost of the Roman Empire. Its Latin name, Portus Cale, has been referred to as the origin of the name "Portugal", based on transliteration and oral evolution from Latin. In Portuguese the name of the city is spelled with a definite article ("o Porto"; English: the port). Consequently, its English name evolved from a misinterpretation of the oral pronunciation and referred to as Oporto in modern literature and by many speakers.
One of Portugal's internationally famous exports, port wine, is named for Porto, since the metropolitan area, and in particular the adegas of Vila Nova de Gaia, were responsible for the production and export of the fortified wine.In 2014, Porto was elected The Best European Destination by the Best European Destinations Agency.

Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic (Portuguese: República Portuguesa), is a unitary semi-presidential republic. It is located in South-Western Europe, on the Iberian Peninsula, and it is the westernmost country of mainland Europe, being bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and by Spain to the north and east. Aside from continental Portugal, the Portuguese Republic holds sovereignty over the Atlantic archipelagos of Azores and Madeira, which are autonomous regions of Portugal. The country is named after its second largest city, Porto, whose Latin name was Portus Cale.[12]
The land within the borders of the current Portuguese Republic has been continually fought over and settled since prehistoric times. After a period of Roman rule followed by Visigothic and Suebian domination, in the 8th century most of the Iberian Peninsula was conquered by Moorish invaders. During the Catholic Church oriented Reconquista, Portugal established itself as an independent kingdom from Galicia in 1139.[13] In the 15th and 16th centuries, as the result of pioneering the Age of Discovery, Portugal expanded western influence and established the first global empire,[14] becoming one of the world's major economic, political and military powers, and ultimately dividing the world with Spain.
The Portuguese Empire was the longest-lived of the modern European colonial empires, spanning almost 600 years, from the capture of Ceuta in 1415 to the handover of Macau to China in 1999 (de facto) or the granting of sovereignty to East Timor in 2002 (de jure). The empire spread throughout a vast number of territories that are now part of 53 different sovereign states, leaving a legacy of over 240 million Portuguese speakers today (making it the sixth most spoken first language) and a number of Portuguese-based creoles. Portugal's international status was greatly reduced during the 19th century, especially following the Independence of Brazil, its largest colony. After the 1910 revolution deposed the monarchy, the democratic but unstable Portuguese First Republic was established, itself being superseded by the "Estado Novo" right-wing authoritarian regime. Democracy was restored after the Portuguese Colonial War and the Carnation Revolution in 1974. The revolution in 1974 also resulted in the independence of Angola, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Timor-Leste, Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau in 1975.
Portugal is considered a developed country with an advanced economy and high living standards, listed with the nineteenth-highest quality of life index rating in the world as of 2005. It's one of the world's most globalized and peaceful nations.[15] It is a member of the United Nations, European Union, Eurozone, OECD, NATO, WTO, Schengen Area, and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. On 31 May 2010, Portugal became the sixth country in Europe and the eighth country in the world to legally recognize same-sex marriage on the national level. The law came into force on 5 June 2010. Besides having a common language, the five former colonies of the Portuguese Empire share a strong “cultural identity, a similar system of governance and a long tradition of contacts and exchanges amongst themselves”. In 1992, the five Lusophone African countries formed an interstate organization called PALOP, a colloquial acronym that translates to African Countries of Portuguese Official Language. The PALOP countries have signed official agreements with Portugal, European Union and the United Nations, and they work together to promote the development of culture and education and the preservation of the Portuguese language. Together with Portugal and Brazil in 1996, the Portuguese-speaking African countries established the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, which East Timor later joined in 2002 and Equatorial Guinea in 2014.

It all started when a bunch of spanish settlers and missionaries followed conquistadors to Spain's new Empire. While there they made their own colonies wherever they went, claiming any land they came by as their own. After a while new cultures came out that reflected European Native American and African traditions. The government of the spanish empire helped the catholic church to convert native americans to Christianity. Winning Christianity was as important as gaining land, therefor the spanish wanted to spread their culture and religion and they did so whenever and wherever they could.
On the portuguese side it all started when the Treaty of Tordesillas took place in 1994. Portugal claimed its empire in East, Brazil. Portugal began to issue grants of their land to portuguese nobles. The nobles agreed to develop the land and share its profits and findings with the crown. Smugglers traded illegally with portuguese and spanish colonists. They had to do this very secretly because they had to get around the country's strict control over colonial trade. The Portuguese turned to plantation and cattle as resources and way to gain income because they couldn't get wealth from gold or silver like Spain.
This affected us in many ways, we have certain celebrations and traditions now based on what happened back in the 1500s. We continue to practice different religions because of the wide spread of Christianity and other religions throughout portugal and spain's colonies.

English/Nat
As the Portuguese colony of Macau prepares to return to Chinese rule in 1999 the government has decided it will turn Macau's most famous hotel into the private home for the first Portuguese consul-general.
The decision has generated outrage in the local community.
The Portuguese colony of Macau - a place known for its casinos.
Located just one hour away from Hong Kong by boat, it has long served as a getaway paradise for the people of Hong Kong and travellers from around the world.
After more than four-hundred years under Portuguese rule, its sovereignty will be returned to China in December 1999.
The transition process has already sparked some concern from the local population.
The people of Macau learned weeks ago that the Portuguese Government had purchased the five-star Hotel Bela Vista for use in relation to the turnover.
The hotel is to serve as the private residence of the first Portuguese consul-general to Macau after the handover to China on December 20, 1999.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"Every room has a little story to say, all the food has the origin of Portugal, of Macau, so it's basically carrying on the tradition of Macau and keeping it alive."
SUPER CAPTION: Paul-Andre Guidat, Manager of Hotel Bela Vista
Although little could be done to prevent the hotel's transformation, locals say they will still remember what they called their "Palace."
Built in 1870, the Bela Vista has gone through a series of changes.
Over the years, it has served as a school, asylum, military retreat and refugee centre.
A 6.5 (m) million U-S dollar agreement was signed in 1990 with a international hotel management group to renovate the run down building into today's five-star Hotel Bela Vista, making it a landmark for Macau.
With only eight suites, the five-star hotel offers many of the comforts one finds at home - with a mixture of Portuguese and Chinese furniture and decor.
The hotel has also received many accolades, such as when the Tatler/Cunard Travel Guide 1998 listed it as one of "five great escapes for the city slickers" in the world.
Guests at the luxurious hotel say they are sad to hear the hotel and its place in Macau's society will not be around for much longer.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"I think it's a great shame to lose a restaurant like this, not just because of the food, we haven't eaten here yet, but because of its ambience, because of the history that it has and it will be a pity to see a part of Portugal go."
SUPER CAPTION: Olaf Lambert, hotel restaurant diner
The hotel will be officially closed on March 31 of next year.
Until then, interested parties still have a year to come and stay in this cosy hotel, with room rates ranging from three-hundred to seven-hundred U-S dollars a night.
As Macau prepares for its return to the Chinese rule, many government positions are now being offered to local Chinese where they were only available to Portuguese years ago.
There are less than 10-thousand Portuguese left in Macau and many of them will be retreated back to Portugal once the turnover takes place.

The State of India, formally, Estado da Índia Portuguesa, and commonly Portuguese India, was a colonial state of the Portuguese Empire, six years after the discovery of a sea route between Portugal and India, to serve as the plenipotentiary governing body of a string of Portuguese fortresses and colonies overseas. The first viceroy was Francisco de Almeida, who established his headquarters in Cochin (Cochim, Kochi). Subsequent Portuguese governors were not always of viceroy rank. After 1510, the capital of the Portuguese viceroyalty was transferred to Goa. Until the 18th Century, the Portuguese governor in Goa had authority over all Portuguese possessions in the Indian Ocean, from southern Africa to southeast Asia. In 1752 Mozambique got its own separate government and in 1844 the Portuguese Government of India stopped administering the territory of Macau, Solor and Timor, and its authority was confined to the colonial holdings on the Malabar coast of India.
At the time of British India's independence in 1947, Portuguese India was subdivided into three districts located on India's western coast: Goa; Daman (Portuguese: Damão) which included the inland enclaves of Dadra and Nagar Haveli; and Diu. The territories of Portuguese India were sometimes referred to collectively as Goa. Portugal lost effective control of the enclaves of Dadra and Nagar Haveli in 1954, and finally the rest of the overseas territory in December 1961, when it was taken by India after military action (although Portugal recognised Indian control only in 1975, after the Carnation Revolution and the fall of the Estado Novo regime).

Bonga was born in the province of Bengo, and left Angola when he was 23 years old to become an athlete, becoming the Portuguese record holder for the 400 metres (Angola was at the time one of Portugal's five African colonies). He had already begun his singing career at the age of 15.
Bonga abandoned athletics in 1972, concentrating solely on his music, and immediately became famous in his native Angola, as well as in Portugal. After the Carnation Revolution in April 1974, he would become a hit both with immigrants from the ex-Portuguese colonies, and Portuguese of both African and European descent. He has released over 30 albums, singing in Portuguese and traditional Angolan languages. His tracks are a mixture of Portuguese folk sounds, semba, kizomba and latin elements.
While Angola was still a Portuguese colony, Bonga was an outspoken supporter of independence. This led him to be exiled from Angola in the early 1970s.
At this time, Portugal was ruled by the authoritarian and conservative Estado Novo regime government, founded by Salazar. Bonga's status as a Portuguese star athlete allowed him the rare freedom of movement, which he used to carry messages between exiled pro-independence African fighters and compatriots still in Angola. As the movement for independence heated up, Bonga was forced into exile in Rotterdam, where, in 1972, he adopted the name Bonga Kwenda and recorded his first record, Angola 72. His iconic track "Mona Ki Ngi Xica", which would feature on the soundtrack of Cédric Klapisch's 1996 film When the Cat's Away (Chacun cherche son chat), was introduced on this album. A warrant for his arrest was issued in Angola for the seditious lyrics of the album, forcing him to move nomadically between Germany, Belgium and France until Angola's independence from Portugal in 1975, brought about by the events of the Carnation Revolution. While in Europe, Bonga met other Portuguese-speaking musicians and adapted the sounds of samba to his already diverse music style.
After independence, the new Angolan government took Angola's best solo acts and founded and supported an orchestra called "Semba Tropical". The purpose was to revive the lost music industry, as described by a People's Republic of Angola ministry spokesman during the band's tour in Europe in the mid-1980s: "We had great problems because of the war for independence. When the Portuguese left they dismantled some of the basic structure by smashing and sabotaging equipment and we had to start from scratch. After independence there were no bands at all. Those which were formed were not active because they had no instruments." In good truth, the newly independent country, with good infrastructure for African standards at independence, and blessed with rich natural resources, was in fact badly mismanaged and plagued by corruption, failed central planning and multiethnic armed conflict for several decades after independence from Portugal.
After Angola's independence Bonga established his main residence in Lisbon, and lived for some time in Paris and Angola. As post-colonial life in Angola disintegrated into corruption, squalor, brutality, and an interminable and bloody civil war, Bonga remained critical of the political leaders on all sides. Bonga's voice of peace and conscience continues to make him a hero to the people of Angola no matter where he resides. He remains fiercely dedicated to the ideal of nonviolence, he states simply: "We must live without harming others."

After not having played EU4 since launch, I decided to start up an Ironman campaign to pick up a few achievements. Since I new it was a sort-of easy start, I picked Portugal and decided to go colonizing. Feel free to give advice, though I can't say I'll be able to take it in this game.

Portugal on the periphery? Scenarios from the History of Sexuality, 1900-1960
Richard Cleminson
(Leeds)
Within the History of Sexuality, Portugal rarely gets a mention. This may be in part to what the sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos called its semi-peripheral geo-political position in western Europe, Anglo-American scholars' lack of familiarity with the Portuguese language or a general lack of prominence in social and political history of Iberia as a whole.
This paper aims to illustrate how research on the history of sexuality in Portugal is worthwhile not only for a broader history of this country but what for it may tell us about the broader history of European sexualities, sexology and sexual knowledge. Two principal subject areas will be focused on. First, more briefly, the sexological work of Nobel Prize winner Egas Moniz, whose frequently revised volume A Vida Sexual (first edition 1901) was one of the principal works of Portuguese sexual science. Specifically, Egas' understandings of male and female homosexuality will be analysed. Second, the paper will analyse some questions pertaining to the reception of eugenics in Portugal, its relation with the Salazar New State in the 1920s and 1930s and the discussions within eugenics of the question of 'race', particularly in the context of the Portuguese colonies.

On May 14, 1607, a group of roughly 100 members of a joint venture called the Virginia Company founded the first permanent English settlement in North America on the banks of the James River. Famine, disease and conflict with local Native American tribes in the first two years brought Jamestown to the brink of failure before the arrival of a new group of settlers and supplies in 1610. Tobacco became Virginia’s first profitable export, and a period of peace followed the marriage of colonist John Rolfe to Pocahontas, the daughter of an Algonquian chief. During the 1620s, Jamestown expanded from the area around the original James Fort into a New Town built to the east; it remained the capital of the Virginia colony until 1699.
After Christopher Columbus’ historic voyage in 1492, Spain dominated the race to establish colonies in the Americas, while English efforts, such as the “lost colony” of Roanoke (1587), met with failure. In 1606, King James I granted a charter to a new venture, the Virginia Company, to form a settlement in North America. At the time, Virginia was the English name for the entire eastern coast of North America north of Florida; they had named it for Elizabeth I, the “virgin queen.” The Virginia Company planned to search for gold and silver deposits in the New World, as well as a river route to the Pacific Ocean that would allow them to establish trade with the Orient. The Jamestown settlement in the Colony of Virginia was the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. William Kelso says Jamestown "is where the British Empire began ... this was the first colony in the British Empire." Established by the Virginia Company of London as "James Fort" on May 4, 1607 (O.S., May 14, 1607 N.S.),and considered permanent after brief abandonment in 1610, it followed several earlier failed attempts, including the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Jamestown served as the capital of the colony for 83 years, from 1616 until 1699.
The settlement was located within the country of Tsenacommacah, which was administered by the Powhatan Confederacy, and specifically in that of the Paspahegh tribe. The natives initially welcomed and provided crucial provisions and support for the colonists, who were not agriculturally inclined. Relations with the newcomers soured fairly early on, leading to the total annihilation of the Paspahegh in warfare within 3 years. Mortality at Jamestown itself was very high due to disease and starvation, with over 80% of the colonists perishing in 1609-1610 in what became known as the "Starving Time".
In 1608, in the Second Supply, the Virginia Company brought eight Polish and German colonists, of whom some built a small glass factory, although the Germans and a few others soon defected to the Powhatans with weapons and supplies from the settlement. The Second Supply also brought the first two European women to the settlement. In 1619, the first documented Africans -- about 50 men, women and children -- came to Jamestown aboard a Portuguese slave ship that had been captured in the West Indies and brought to the Jamestown region. They most likely worked in the tobacco fields as indentured servants initially. The modern conception of slavery in the future United States was formalized in 1640 (the John Punch hearing) and was fully entrenched in Virginia by 1660.
The London Company's second settlement, Bermuda, claims to be the site of the oldest town in the English New World, as St. George's, Bermuda was officially established (as New London) in 1612, whereas James Fort, in Virginia, was not to be converted into James Towne until 1619, and further did not survive into the present day. In 1676, the town was deliberately burned during Bacon's Rebellion, though it was quickly rebuilt. In 1699, the capital was relocated from Jamestown to what is today Williamsburg, after which Jamestown ceased to exist as a settlement, existing today only as an archaeological site.
Today, Jamestown is one of three locations comprising the Historic Triangle of Colonial Virginia, along with Williamsburg and Yorktown, with two primary heritage sites. Historic Jamestowne, the archaeological site on Jamestown Island, is a cooperative effort by Jamestown National Historic Site (part of Colonial National Historical Park), and Preservation Virginia. Jamestown Settlement, a living history interpretive site, is operated by the Jamestown Yorktown Foundation in conjunction with the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This documentary traces the discovery of America and early voyages by European explorers. It shows Indian civilizations encountered by the Spanish, Spanish colonization, English freebooters on the Spanish Main, and the life of early settlers in New England and the South.

The colonial history of the United States covers the history of European settlements from the start of colonization of America until their incorporation into the United States. In the late 16th century, England, France, Spain and the Netherlands launched major colonization programs in eastern North America. Small early attempts often disappeared; everywhere the death rate of the first arrivals was very high. Nevertheless successful colonies were established. European settlers came from a variety of social and religious groups. No aristocrats settled permanently, but a number of adventurers, soldiers, farmers, and tradesmen arrived. Diversity was an American characteristic as the Dutch of New Netherland, the Swedes and Finns of New Sweden, the English Quakers of Pennsylvania, the English Puritans of New England, the English settlers of Jamestown, and the "worthy poor" of Georgia, came to the new continent and built colonies with distinctive social, religious, political and economic styles. Non-British colonies were taken over and the inhabitants were all assimilated, unlike in Nova Scotia, where the British expelled the French Acadian inhabitants. There were no major civil wars among the 13 colonies, and the two chief armed rebellions (in Virginia in 1676 and in New York in 1689–91) were short-lived failures. Wars between the French and the British—the French and Indian Wars and Father Rale's War—were recurrent, and involved French support for Wabanaki Confederacy attacks on the frontiers. By 1760 France was defeated and the British seized its colonies.
On the eastern seaboard of what would become the United States, the four distinct British regions were: New England, the Middle Colonies, the Chesapeake Bay Colonies (Upper South) and the Lower South. By the time European settlers arrived around 1600–1650, the majority of the Native Americans living in the eastern United States had been ravaged by new diseases, introduced to them decades before by explorers and sailors.
Colonizers came from European kingdoms with highly developed military, naval, governmental and entrepreneurial capabilities. The Spanish and Portuguese centuries-old experience of conquest and colonization during the Reconquista, coupled with new oceanic ship navigation skills, provided the tools, ability, and desire to colonize the New World. England, France and the Netherlands started colonies in both the West Indies and North America. They had the ability to build ocean-worthy ships, but did not have as strong a history of colonization in foreign lands as did Portugal and Spain. However, English entrepreneurs gave their colonies a base of merchant-based investment that needed much less government support.
English colonies:
England made its first successful efforts at the start of the 17th century for several reasons. During this era, English proto-nationalism and national assertiveness blossomed under the threat of Spanish invasion, assisted by a degree of Protestant militarism and the energy of Queen Elizabeth. At this time, however, there was no official attempt by the English government to create a colonial empire. Rather, the motivation behind the founding of colonies was piecemeal and variable. Practical considerations, such as commercial enterprise, overpopulation and the desire for freedom of religion, played their parts. The main waves of settlement came in the 17th century. After 1700 most immigrants to Colonial America arrived as indentured servants—young unmarried men and women seeking a new life in a much richer environment. Between the late 1610s and the American Revolution, the British shipped an estimated 50,000 convicts to its American colonies. The first convicts to arrive pre-dated the arrival of the Mayflower.
New England:
New England is the oldest clearly defined region of the United States. While New England was originally inhabited by Indigenous peoples, English Pilgrims and especially Puritans, fleeing religious persecution in England, arrived in the 1620-1660 era. They dominated the region; their religion was later called Congregationalism. They and their descendants are called Yankees. Farming, fishing and lumbering prospered, as did seafaring and merchandising.
