Discovering the best shopping spots in cities under the fashion radar is the Style Jaunt mission and Lisbon was the perfect way to start our travel guide! Known as one of the city’s hotspots, the Chiado district stands out because of its interesting clash between old and new: you can go from sipping a coffee at Café à Brasileira, one of the oldest cafés in town, to finding smaller, hidden-gem boutiques like Organii for organic cosmetics. Canadian fashion bloggers Camille and Gracie meet for the first time at an outdoor book market, happening every Saturday. They quickly head off for some shopping at the Loja da Burel store, where they learn more about the artisanal Portuguese wool called Burel and find great accessories made out of this traditional fabric but with a modern edge.
Recognized as the beating heart of Lisbon, the Chiado district is also a must for foodies with its numerous 5-star restaurants. The two bloggers end their day at Cantinho do Avillez where they get to sample the cuisine of Lisbon’s local star chef José Avillez.

Style Jaunt is not only about shopping, it’s also about finding hidden gems in unexpected neighbourhoods. The Bairro Alto district has a reputation for amazing nightlife and restaurants, but what about about the many personalities and communities that make this place so vibrant and interesting? After a nice breakfast on the rooftop terrace at Hotel do Chiado, Gracie and Camille go to Facto Hair Salon to have local rock star Antony Millard style their hair as he explains that it is the eclectic people living in this neighbourhood that actually make it such a vibrant, one-of-a-kind place to visit. Although Bairro Alto is filled with fabulous places for cocktails and all sorts of great eateries, it is still a great place to visit during the day with the many street-art murals and walk-in boutiques such as Sky Walker and Véronique Boutique.
Lisbon is a city that was built on seven hills, which makes it perfect for streetcar cruising or watching the gorgeous sunset. Bloggers Camille and Gracie decide to finish their day at Pharmacia sipping cocktails on one of the most beautiful terraces in Lisbon, right above a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the river.

Once known only for its antique shops and gay bars, the Principe Real district in Lisbon is now going through a rejuvenation phase. It may be a residential district at its core, but the neighbourhood is becoming a serious shopping area! Off to a new start for Camille and Gracie, who get to enjoy their morning Americano coffee at the Jardim do Principe Real park under its iconic and towering cedar tree. Across the street is Embaixada, a beautiful retail gallery where the bloggers meet with General Manager Catarina Lopes, who tells them about the building’s history and its clever concept that seems to be perfectly adapted to the retail industry in Portugal.
Although the neighbourhood is surrounded by colourful 19th century mansions, like the Embaixada building, you don’t want to overlook its smaller boutiques! The two bloggers discover Alexandra Moura, a talented Portuguese designer who displays her styles in a beautiful shop on Dom Pedro V Street.
The fashionistas then lead us outside of Principe Real into the Alcântara district where they come across the LX factory. A manufacturing complex kept hidden for years, it has now become a full-blown creative district that serves the fashion, advertising, communication, fine arts, architecture and music industries, as well as all types of design fields, from home decor to office toys.

Travel Guide Portugal /// Lisboa
http://maartenkuijken.tumblr.com
Spread across steep hillsides that overlook the Rio Tejo, Lisbon offers all the delights you’d expect of Portugal’s star attraction, yet with half the fuss of other European capitals. Gothic cathedrals, majestic monasteries and quaint museums are all part of the colourful cityscape, but the real delights of discovery lie in wandering the narrow lanes of Lisbon’s lovely backstreets.
As bright yellow trams wind their way through curvy tree-lined streets, Lisboêtas stroll through the old quarters, much as they’ve done for centuries. Village-life gossip in old Alfama is exchanged at the public baths or over fresh bread and wine at tiny patio restaurants as fadistas (proponents of fado, Portugal’s traditional melancholic singing) perform in the background.
Meanwhile, in other parts of town, visitors and locals chase the ghosts of Pessoa in warmly lit 1930s-era cafés or walk along the seaside that once saw the celebrated return of Vasco da Gama. Yet, while history is very much alive in centuries-old Lisbon, its spirit is undeniably youthful.
In the hilltop district of Bairro Alto, dozens of restaurants and bars line the narrow streets, with jazz, reggae, electronica and fado filling the air and revellers partying until dawn. Nightclubs scattered all over town make fine use of old spaces, whether on riverside docks or tucked away in 18th-century mansions.
The Lisbon experience encompasses so many things, from enjoying a fresh pastry and bica (espresso) on a petite leafy plaza to window-shopping in elegant Chiado. It’s mingling with Lisboêtas at a neighbourhood festival or watching the sunset from the old Moorish castle.
Just outside Lisbon, there’s more to explore: the magical setting of Sintra, glorious beaches and traditional fishing villages.

In February I decided to test life as a digital nomad in Lisbon. I was excited to try out this new and exciting city for the first time.
http://www.1bag1life.com/lisbon-travel-guide-digital-nomads/
After the initial days I was so amazed I decided to stay for a long time. Based on mye experiences I have made a travel guide for digital nomads picking Lisbon as their destination.
I learned a lot about the ways of the city, and wanted to share my knowledge with others. This has resulted in a comprehensive guide to Lisbon on my blog. I talk about everything that a digital nomad needs to know.
In the travel guide I go into detail about several topics:
Accommodation - I tell you where it is good to stay in Lisbon. There are many options for nomads; like hostels, AirBnB and hotels.
Cost of Living - I talk about what you can expect in terms of cost related to everything from food to accommodation and nightlife. It is generally cheap in Lisbon compared to other European capitols.
When to go - To get the most out of your stay you have to go at the right time for you. This depends on which kind of weather and season you prefer.
Nightlife - The amazing nightlife of this city is perfect for digital Nomads. Barrio Alto is a great spot when you are visiting Lisbon.
I made this video to show you guys some of the most beautiful location in this digital nomad paradise. Lisbon has a lot of gorgeous attractions like Belem and the modern parks in town. If you are thinking of going to Portugal for your next trip you can find useful information covering every topic on my blog.

Olá! With Lisbon (Lisboa), it was love at first sight. Alan and I recently spent 4 days in the Portuguese capital and we had a fantastic time. The food was amazing, the climate perfect, the people lovely and the history fascinating. Also, everyone was fluent in English...which is always handy ;)
I could definitely recommended it for a cheap weekend away (or if you're lucky like us, 4 days...to properly enjoy all the beauties the city has to offer).
At a glance, these are the tourist sights we visited:
- Park Bar
- Praça dos Restauradores
- Praça Dom Pedro IV
- Elevador de Santa Justa • Santa Justa Lift
- Praça do Comércio
- Sé de Lisboa • Lisbon Cathedral
- Alfama
- Bairro Alto
- Castelo de Sao Jorge • Saint George Castle
- Torre de Belém • Belém Tower
- Ponte 25 de Abril • 25th of April Bridge
- Parque Eduardo VII • Eduardo VII Park
- Sintra
- Pálacio Nacional de Sintra • Sintra National Palace
- Pálacio Nacional da Pena • Pena National Palace
- Pálacio de Monserrate • Monserrate Palace
- Castelo dos Mouros • Castle of the Moors
- Parque das Nações • Park of Nations

Travel video about destination Sevilla in Spain.
Seville is a gem of a city and Andalusia’s most fascinating metropolis. In the centre of the old town is the Real Alcazar, that was originally home to numerous Moorish monarchs and later the domicile of Spanish kings. It’s said to be the oldest and most fascinating palace complex in the whole of Europe. Christopher Columbus was welcomed in the palace when he returned from his second voyage to America after having established a trading route with the New World. Its unique mixture of numerous cultures and époques augments the atmosphere of exquisite luxury. With its labyrinth of white alleys, Santa Cruz is the city’s old Jewish district and is located close to both the Real Alcazar and the Catedral. Grated windows, flowerpots on the walls and old wooden gates are typical of this area of the city that exemplifies the traditional Andalusian way of life. The Plaza De Toros and the seasonal hustle and bustle of its bullfights, dominates the El Arenal, the city’s former harbor district. Designed in the 18th century by Vicente San Martin, the bullfight arena was fully restored in the middle of the 19th century. La Giralda and the Patio de los Naranjos are the only remains of Sevilla´s Almohad Mosque. The rest of the temple was destroyed by the Christians. Construction began in 1401 and it became the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. After the Petersdom in Rome and St.Paul’s in London, it is the third largest Christian building in the world. With its rich cultural inheritance bequeathed by both the Moors and the Christians, Seville is a truly incredible city with a flamboyant way of life and fiery Latin temperament!
