Dorothy King against FYROM's propaganda. Archaeologist Dorothy King states the historical truth and stands against FYROM's (the Former Yugoslav Republic of "Macedonia", which actually corresponds to ancient Paeonia, not to ancient Macedonia) propaganda. "Macedonia was - and still is - a territory of northern Greece. The Ancient Macedonians were of Greek origin and spoke a broader rougher dialect of Greek." (Stephen Batchelor, “The Ancient Greeks for Dummies”, 2008) "The so-called Republic of 'Macedonia' is located in what was ancient Paeonia." (Paul Cartledge, University of Cambridge, UK) “Paeonia, roughly where the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is today.” (Timothy Howe, Jeanne Reames, “Macedonian Legacies”, Regina Books, 2008, p.239) “Ovid was lax in his geography, not least ov...
Date Shot: 16 August, 2015 Each day the number of refugees (and migrants) crossing from Greece into the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia increases. Most are from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. UNHCR is working with the government to improve registration, and to building a ‘waiting area’ with better conditions near the train station. The goal of most is to get to Western Europe, but without a registration paper they are stuck. Despite registering 2,200 people a day, conditions are chaotic, as people wait in the sun and sleep in the street while they wait. Once registered, they jam the trains that would take them to the Serbian border. Others take buses. Some with money take taxis. The Bosnian War was an international armed conflict that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 6 April 1992[8][9][10] and 14 December 1995. The war involved several factions. The main belligerents were the forces of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and those of the self-proclaimed Bosnian Serb and Bosnian Croat entities within Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska and Herzeg-Bosnia, who were led and supplied by Serbia and Croatia respectively.[11][12][13] The war came about as a result of the breakup of Yugoslavia. Following the Slovenian and Croatian secessions from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1991, the multi-ethnic Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was inhabited by Muslim Bosniaks (44 percent), Orthodox Serbs (31 percent) and Catholi...
The final episode of "Being a black man Europe" in Europe (sorry for the delay) which leads to main question many of you have been asking me from the start of the series "what is it like being black in the Balkans". However, I decided o change the focus/title of the final episode to "Being a black man in Former Yugoslavia" as it is the only region of the Balkans I have spent significant time in. Therefore, my experiences and reflections are specific to my time in former Yugoslavia. https://www.youtube.com/user/smoothdeep https://www.facebook.com/smoothdeep @SmoothDeep (twitter) Smooth_Deep (Instagram)

[Phone interview with Redmond Weissenberger] There seems to be a resurgence of nostalgia for the "good old days" among the citizens of countries that were once known under the common name of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. This article is dedicated to all of us former Yugoslavs, especially those who think that the Yugoslav economy during Tito's rule was built on a stable foundation. If we look at and analyze economic indicators, we have to admit that the idea of the robustness of the Yugoslav economy was an illusion and that the "well-being" that many former Yugoslavs are recalling with nostalgia was borrowed at the expense of future generations. These generations are now paying the bill for the collapse of the unsustainable economic system of socialist Yugoslavia, along with p...
The Yugoslav Wars were ethnic conflicts fought from 1991 to 1999 on the territory of former Yugoslavia. About the book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0156806630/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp;=1789&creative;=9325&creativeASIN;=0156806630&linkCode;=as2&tag;=doc06-20&linkId;=ba27672962235c1ac53a359a472adbb1 The wars accompanied the breakup of the country, where its constituent republics declared independence, but the issues of ethnic minorities in the new countries (chiefly Serbs in central parts and Albanians in the southeast) were left unresolved after those republics were recognized internationally. The wars are generally considered to be a series of largely separate but related military conflicts occurring and affecting most of the former Yugoslav republics: War in Slovenia (1991) Cro...
