Rwanda (/ruːˈɑːndə/ or /ruːˈændə/ ( listen); Kinyarwanda: U Rwanda [u.ɾɡwanda]), officially the Republic of Rwanda (Kinyarwanda: Repubulika y'u Rwanda; French: République du Rwanda), is a sovereign state in central and east Africa and one of the smallest countries on the African mainland. Located a few degrees south of the Equator, Rwanda is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A guide book or travel guide is "a book of information about a place, designed for the use of visitors or tourists". Travel guides can also take the form of travel websites such as the free and open Wikivoyage.
It will usually include full details relating to accommodation, restaurants, transportation, and activities. Maps of varying detail and historical and cultural information are often included. Different kinds of guide books exist, focusing on different aspects of travel, from adventure travel to relaxation, or aimed at travelers with different incomes, or focusing on sexual orientation or types of diet.
A forerunner of the guidebook was the periplus, an itinerary from landmark to landmark of the ports along a coast. A periplus such as the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea was a manuscript document that listed, in order, the ports and coastal landmarks, with approximate intervening distances, that the captain of a vessel could expect to find along a shore. This work was possibly written in the middle of the 1st century CE. It served the same purpose as the later Roman itinerarium of road stops.
www.theredquest.com My arrival into the Rwandan capital coincided with the 18th anniversary of the Genocide. I check into the Top Tower Hotel and see the sights, including a city centre walk, a trip on the back of a motorbike taxi, a visit to the Genocide Memorial Centre, and a beer in the Milles de Collines, the hotel made famous by the movie 'Hotel Rwanda'. Read my book about visiting every former Soviet Republic. Visit www.theredquest.com

Country #19 in 2015 was RWANDA! This country was hands down our favorite in Africa. Despite all the challenges, struggles and down right treacherous past the country has had, the government and people are making great gains to preserve their beautiful piece of this planet. The streets are clean, the people overwhelmingly friendly and hard working, plus the wildlife is out of this World. Gorilla trekking in the Virunga Mountains goes on our top 5 travel experiences of all time. Check out what adventure we are doing right now at http://www.divergenttravelers.com/
This is a very short chronicle of my recent 6 day media trip to Rwanda, courtesy RwandAir & the Rwandan Development Board (RDB), in which I went around the country and learned a lot about Rwandan Culture and Tourism. Rwanda has come a long way from its history of Genocide, turning what could have been the most crippling part of its' story into a triumphant one, with developments in Agriculture, Infrastructure, and of course, Tourism, which has become a big revenue source for the nation. It's impossible to show the true beauty of Rwanda, I hope my small story encourages you to visit and see more. English/Nat The Rwandan army has invaded neighbouring Zaire in a major escalation of the conflict around the refugee camps in the eastern part of the country. Rwandan troops are now openly fighting alongside Tutsi rebels against Zairean soldiers. Reports say Rwandans have captured the Zairean town of Goma. Meanwhile thousands of refugees are on the move, prompting a massive humanitarian disaster which the United Nations is unable to cope with. Rwandans from the border town of Gisenyi are gathering up their belongings and leaving in their thousands. The roads leading out of Gisenyi have been filled with Rwandans on the move - some carrying clothes and mattresses on their backs. The exodus follows the shelling from across the border in Zaire of Gisenyi's main market...
