Global Health Histories seminar 80: South Africa: Primary Health Care as a harbinger of democracy
During the 1940s, South African doctors Sidney and Emily Kark, pioneered a progressive social and community-oriented Primary Health Care (PHC) approach. BSMC: Is there room for me? An exploration of nursing leadership in primary health care in New Zealand
This presentation will discuss how eight nurse leaders were able to contribute to evolving primary health care collectives in New Zealand as part of the politically driven integration agenda, Better, Sooner, More Convenient. Findings suggest ongoing challenges to nurses leading in primary health care which includes fragmentation among nurses, variable investment in regional nursing infrastructure, interdisciplinary relationship issues and limited training to develop future nurse leaders. Addressing these results requires clinical, strategic
